This sounds so random but if you give a name to the sound and say the words each time Carl hears it he will be less afraid. Make sure to say the words in a happy voice and maybe even reward him each time he hears it. Our dog used to bark at neighbors or people walking outside until we said in happy voices “those are neighbors” and tel her we saw them too, she stopped barking after a few weeks (this was something a trainer told us to do!)
what happens if you happen to have actual break ins? then your dog wont be able to warn you??

Just a thought for next year and the upstairs tree. You could always run an extension cord under your rug (where your couch will cover it as well) so you can put it next to the railing where you originally wanted it to go.

So pretty! We moved to the country this summer and used green paint. We chose Benjamin Moore October Mist. It’s absolutely stunning. I love your choices as well. Your home is so serene. Angie, I love your new house and the wine room! The one thing that I am concerned about is the master bedroom where you want to put fabric on the walls. The fabric you picked is lovely for the winter, but I am concerned that you may not love it in the summer as it may seem too heavy. What I suggest is that you upholster the walls using foam board with Velcro so that you can take the "heaviness" off the wall when it is warm out and create a more summer feel. I know you love the winter feel, but you have not experienced it in the spring and summer, so I suggest you wait until you have lived in the house for the "seasons" before making final changes to the house. Take it from someone who has gone through the same feelings you are now with a new home.
Hi, I seen the post below about the happy voices, it works. I used a snap of my fingers to first get their attention and explained in the voice below, "happy", about how we didn't bark at our neighbors. I have three large dogs and their all my babies. I'm the worst at baby talking them.
OK CARL, I died lmbo. When he was sitting there in front of the camera I was dying. Then you turned around and saw him and you and I both pointed at the screen at the same time. I was laughing so hard at him, he's so stinkin cute, and has such a character about him. He was just sitting there with this humongous personality about him while doing nothing hahaha.

I would recommend taking a walk around Fort Wilderness/ Wilderness Lodge for cabin Disney decorating ideas. Or better yet the Grand Californian. When was the last time you visited Disneyland? :) Beautiful Canadian mountain home. Beautiful Floridian home. I love seeing people living out their dreams. 💕🐶💙 All of your hard work is paying off. It’s not always easy but always worth it. Congratulations!

The same leather furniture cleaner wipes I use too....and just ordered "another bunch" of awesome sweat shirts/sweaters tonight.......they make great gifts!!! We started shopping at Canadian Tire more and more over the past years, this year they have upped their game. I had or still have a concussion since the summer, so bending my head is not a pleasant feeling. So, this year we bought some outdoor timers. They are on sale right now for $13 at C.T. We also bought more Dollarama timers, they are $5. I set the timers at 3pm-10pm, which go off when we are in bed. 5am-8am when we wake up in the morning, then they turn off again until the evening ... I love it!... I don't have to touch the Christmas decorations. I noticed you went and turned on the Christmas light, hopefully, this helps you and others.

LOVE the mirror choice and yes 2!!!! When we decided to make our move and brand new built one of the most important things for me before doing the whole decision was making sure my hubby knew I needed all new furniture and decor budget because I didn’t want a empty house or move stuff that I knew wasn’t gonna work! And our whole moving truck literally was a dining room set, bedroom set (for guest rooms) and my holiday decor. And I’m so happy I made sure we budgeted for it!! From a house that guest ask if it was the model ( I love that) and finding the perfect handy man and having the walls paneled and painted and totally budgeted for literally a resort swim up bar pool! It’s made life amazing and not having to worry that we didn’t budget for everything!! You truly could be my child Angie and I love your videos!! I love how so many of us on here our minds are all on the same page!! Also LOVE LOVE YOUR MERCH!!!! Love you girl and congrats 🎉🎊🍾

In dog training based on animal psychology (ethology) there is a thing called habituation. Which is where something new and unusual draws your attention, but as you get used to the same thing it will become normal and usual instead. Like when you move to a busy road and for the first week all you can hear are the cars. After living there for a year you’re so used to them you don’t even notice.
So to use this for dogs start small. As I know you usually have some ambient sound on in the background continue with that. Then on the lowest setting start using the sound he reacts to. He shouldn’t be bothered by the sound at this point. Don’t make a big deal out of it. Pretend it’s nothing. When he’s calm and unbothered by the noise up it a step (in volume) and continue on in this matter until it can ring at full volume and he doesn’t even care because it’s so normal.
This is a great tool to use on dogs that show some kind of aversion of anything. Like fireworks, other dogs or anything the like. A tip is to start for smaller amounts of time in the beginning and do it when they’re already calm and tired if it’s possible. This WILL take time. Lot’s of time, effort and energy, but will work wonders when it’s done.
