- I show you step by step how to use a Portable RV waste tank. I use a Camco Rhino 21- gallon tank for my RV. I've owned a few of these tanks and this is the best so far. And I have had some very expensive tanks.

I would suggest dumping black water tank first
Then grey water tank
Grey water then partially rinses your tank and after done dumping, use the water rinse to finish cleaning your rhino tank
Indeed! I agree with you! Black first and then grey! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks. Helpful but I have a couple of suggestions: Wear rubber or latex gloves. Check how full the portable tank gets (shut the trailer valve & look through the clear elbow), disconnect from the trailer 1st to drain the water in the hose into the tank.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
I don't wear the gloves on purpose. I once had an accident with a hose...while wearing gloves. Basically a hose busted and got all over my gloved hands. Guess what, I had sewage in between my glove and my hand... Grossed me out bad.
That was the last time I did the doo with gloves.
I use sanitizing hand wipes and hand sanitizer and wash my hands well after I'm done.
Thanks for your excellent video!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! Very helpful
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Great video, extremely helpful. I thought I’d practice with grey water first, sure enough I over filled it and thought this would’ve been awful if I had started with the black tank. Thank you!
You are welcome! It’s one of those things that are simple…yet takes practice to get the feel for it. Glad I was able to help some.
Take care friend, have a great day.
Seriously Thank you ! Thinking about what size to get . Your video made some good points. Now I feel way more comfortable after I purchase this.
Still on the fence which size 28/36 🧐
@@chuckpoz1968 my pleasure! I’ve done pretty well with the 21 gallon version. I just watch it and don’t over fill it. Remember that a gallon of water weighs about 8 lbs. depending on your strength level 60-80 lbs can make a big difference. Think about your weaker partners that the job may fall to if you get hurt.
I know that sounds crazy but I had to help a lady with her 48 gallon tote. Her husband had recently been injured and couldn’t lift it.
In a pinch, my wife (or a young teen for example) could handle the 21 gallon tank with relative ease. Just a few more thoughts.
Thank you, just what I needed.
Glad it helped!
I tried to figure out how the tow hook goes on my "turdle" for most of fifteen minutes. I had to bring my boss lady in for further consultation and she couldn't figure it out either. I looked for your video here and scrubbed forward to where to attach the tank to your truck and give myself a concussion smackin myself in the forehead.
Nice work, thanks.
Back on the short bus, now...
No worries! I'm glad it was able to help! Thank you for watching.
Super helpful video. Everything worked exactly as you described. Thanks!
I am glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
This was definitely helpful!
Thank you! I am glad it was helpful! Take care, and thank you for watching!
@jeremsgarage
I literally just took my Rhino out of the box, and I'm getting ready to use it for the first time. I've never drained an RV before, and I was really pleased to find your video on CZcams. It's the only one I saw that covered the process start-to-finish.
@@cornpop7805 thank you for letting me know! It’s pretty straightforward but if you have any question please let me know.
Thank you ! Good idea to bring bucket !
Greetings from Montréal Canada !🇨🇦
You are welcome! Thanks for watching! I’d love to get up to Montreal Canada one day! Beautiful country you have there.
Great video. Thank you for making it. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Great video. Thank you. Only thing missing was the rinsing process!!
Thank you!!!
You are most welcome.
Thanks for the video. I didn't realize the campground I booked up the upcoming solar eclipse (April 2024) doesn't have sewer hookups. While we will be next to the bath house it would be nice to have something like this to deal with kitchen sink water.
That sounds like a fun trip! Glad I could help some! The little tank makes things much more comfortable.
Thanks a million, should I just get a cameo the size of my tank?
No problem! That is really up to you! Getting a tank the same size as the tank in your trailer eliminates the possibility of overfilling. But if you have a 30-40 plus gallon tank it can make handling the Camco tank harder. Each gallon of water is about 8 lbs.
Mine didn’t come with directions.... everything really is self explanatory for an experienced RV'er... but i could not figure out the hitch... thx for making me feel like an idiot 😂😂😂😂
My pleasure 😅
I want to make a simple outdoor bathroom with a tank that I can periodically take to a dump station. . Will this work somehow by connecting a regular toilet to it? Can it hold poop?
Yes it would work. But I would not connect a regular toilet to it. A regular toilet uses way too much water. I’ll be honest, a standard sized porta potty would be a much easier option.
Bayonet fitting.
Yep! Thanks for watching!
Does that fit a 2 and 5/16 ball? Thank you!
Yes it does! No problem! Thanks for watching!
I got to haul mine a good ways , what’s the fastest you can go while pulling it ?
I think it’s about 5 mph.
Directions says 5 mph
Any issuesing towing with the truck? It says not to tow with a truck but rather a golf cart or ATV
yes just purchased new unit and the accordion dump tube was torn I tried to call and email campco and no response. I'm not happy with their customer service. Someone packed damaged goods and sent it to a paying customer. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a repair
First, always wear protective gloves. Second, always get a extra tank that's at least as big as your rv tanks, so there's no chance of an accidental overflow/spill. Lastly, if that tank were full of black tank waste, it would weigh about 175 pounds. Those plastic wheels/axle wear out fast, and when they fail you have a mess. Since you have a pick up truck, it would have been better to carry the full tank in the bed of the truck, as opposed to pulling it over gravel terrain for any distance.
Meh, appreciate the comment but I just take extra trips. I’ve been RV’ing for over 12 years and have had my share of experiences. I am NOT lifting a full waste tank into the bed and the transfer tank is just nasty. Gloves kind hold stuff in so that’s experience for me. I just wash my hands, super easy, clean, and simple. If I wear it out I’ll just buy another one. (I’m on my third)
Would the the wastewater be able to travel up the hose and into the bed of the truck or would gravity stop that from working?
Now putting it into practice..yeehaw..first time doing this, totally a poop noob.
Spoiler alert...It all comes out in the end 😆
How fast can u tow with it?
Really pushing it at 15 MPH. I usually crawl at about 5 mph.
So make 2 trips (one for each tank…)
Yes! If needed! Typically for a weekend I don’t need to dump the black tank but when I pull out. If you are going to dump the black into the tote make sure to fill up the gray tank in the camper. Dump the black into the portable tank. Dump it…then dump the gray into the portable tank to rinse it out.
Where could I get one

👍
Thank you for watching!
The head mounted camera was not pointed at the subject very well.
Thanks for the feedback.
Is it okay to use this for the black and gray tank or is this primarily meant for the gray tank only?
Hi! You can use both! I would do the black tank first, haul that off to the dump. Then do a second trip with gray water. This will keep your tank… cleanish.
To bad the handle is a poor design
I hit a small bump and the part that fits on hitch pur pressure on handle and broke it right off
I speak from experience too. As a detective that worked numerous crime scenes for 25 years I never had a glove failure and I worked some messy scenes, not to mention years of RV experience.
But whatever. Your monkey, your circus.
You, in 25 years have never torn a glove? I mean, not one glove failure? Realllly?
he prolly thinks a mask can stop a fart too cant stop it nor the smell lol. latex gloves always tear. just wash your hands. @@jeremsgarage
Nasty without gloves, I know you're going to say it's a close system, and you don't get anything on you. Even if that was true it's still nasty as hell not to use gloves.
Okay! Thanks for watching. Gloves are nasty and gross. I just wash and sanitize after. Sweaty hands, leaky liquid. Gets in side. Not good. I even change oil with a bare hand. Lol. I guess I’m living on the edge.
We don't use gloves either lol, we carry sanitizer with us then wash hands when done.
@@Hotmesshomesteadin every experienced RV’er I know doesn’t use gloves. Something about experience 😅 thanks for watching!
@@jeremsgarage well good for you! It's still NASTY!
@@michaelmitchell9612 😅 NASTY
If i were you id grab a sandwich and eat while you’re working
I May for the next video. Just to make the glove patrol lose their minds. I've seen guys put on gloves up to their shoulders just to pull a lever. 😆
What planet are you on that gravity doesn’t exist? You didn’t even drain the waste out your tote was higher that the rv outlet, you didn’t even empty the hose.
Ha ha ha.. You do know that EDITING is a thing. Right? lol
Wear some gloves.
Hard pass. Thanks for watching. Gloves are gross. Super good at holding the ick inside of them. If you’re gonna wear gloves get them up to your shoulders. I speak from experience.
