It's New Years Eve 2021 and I'm sad to announce that Betty White died today at age 99. She outlived everyone from The Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and everyone in the game show community now together again with her husband Allen Ludden. Thank you for entertaining us, making us laugh, and playing along. You will always be on in reruns forever. Until we meet again, RIP.
This video also makes me think of what a wonderful household they must have had. Allen and Betty exuded “positivity.”😊
I so wish that she could have lived to celebrate her 100th Birthday...
The color on this old videotape is just beautiful. I'll bet it looked great on those early color TVs
They used a lot of brighter primary colors in clothing in primetime shows, and after watching black and white TVs for years, it was stimulating to the brain's eyes...
This episode was mid-1960's. At that time, daytime game shows were just beginning to be broadcast in color. The producers purposely assembled sets and fashion designs that were as colorful as possible.
You can tell that they adored each other.
Allen was such a great host! "You did everything but lay those eggs!"
I LOL when Allen said that! , 🤣😂
Yeah that was a great line :D
Go betty! She's so sharp and intelligent here. A natural.
A total natural. She rocked!!
Are you trying to get in her will?
She was even very sharp at the game when she was 88 and it is on CZcams...
She did not look 45,and now she doesn't look ALMOST 100,beautiful woman
Frank sure was movie star handsome
Isnt he Frank Gifford? Married to Kathy Lee?! Yaa they were a gorgeous pair
And a cheater big time.
But one of the dumbest guests, ever. Those blank stares were an indication of his no clue to give clues. Hilarious.
hahaha@@sogorgeous2257
Allan and Betty were the definition of class!
🎠 Betty looks so beautiful in that yellow dress ! Blessings and prayers to her family and fans ! From California. 🕊
💕love Allen and Betty
I love how well Betty White played “Marshmallow” in the Lightning Round. She stayed with it when most players would have become flustered when her partner kept answering incorrectly.
She Loved that man! I am stating the obvious...
Thank you for this upload. Enjoyed this.
Betty White, always a class act.
Yep, forgot how beautiful she was too. RIP Betty 🙏
Yes and very competitive.
I watched this game as far back as 1966, but because I was in school I had to watch it in summer or holiday time away from school. My brothers and I watched it alot, and learned some new words too, so it was educational in that sense.Betty White was on it several times. I liked the deep voice of the man who announced each word to the TV audience.Luden was the best game host of all time.Frank Gifford was cute then, sure looks young. He just doesn't seem to be into the game.
He is playing with a pulled groin.
@@robertsprouse9282 Ouch
What an incredible treat to see the late, great Roger Sturtevant - he was one of a kind, and this is a treasure.
Oh my! That was Roger Sturtevant! Didn't catch that! Thanks!
Allen and Betty are a great duo, and seeing Betty White with hair other than white/gray feels so strange.
Betty was a very attractive young woman.
She's actually 45 years old in this :)
She's a cuti PIE!
Beautiful
When these shows were made, and I remember watching them when they first came out, especially in the summer, these words were everyday words that were frequently used. People, in general, read many, many more books in those days and so everyone had a much larger vocabulary than now. Very few people read books other than the ones they are forced to read in school. Very few people read for pleasure anymore and if they do, they aren't reading the classics.
That is very true. People read a lot of texts and social media posts today but those tend to use simple everyday words and slang. People probably aren't exposed to such a wide range of vocabulary any more.
Like frankfurter,gulf, warble👍
Not only that but people don't know how to spill, when to CAPITALIZE, and how to punctuate correctly anymore?
When Frank Gifford thinks you can literally hear the cogs whirring.
But enough about your supersonic hearing..
Robert Sprouse Not my x-ray vision?
@@elspethcoogan1499, you mention " literally HEAR(my emphasis)"..
That would be aural..wouldn't it?
@@elspethcoogan1499 Robert's right. Your password is INCORRECT. An X-Ray would see through the screen you're watching this through. Unless you can time travel, I think he gets the option here.
@@iCuMlOuD I was being sarcastic 🙄
Frank surely was a good looking, smart dude and a gentleman.
For scoundrel, a good clue would have been "rapscallion," which is a term that was much more common then, than now.
And a good clue for titillate would have been "enrapture."
*R.I.P. BETTY WHITE !!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!! ☹*
Betty is like 45 but she looks like she's 30..♡ and i also love her hair
Betty looks like a stranger so young. It's amazing.
WOOOOOOOW! I think this is the first time I've seen Betty with sleeves!
I'm surprised that the word "yolk" wasn't given as a clue for the word "egg". But of course, sometimes when you're under pressure, I'm sure the words don't always come to you so easily!
Sometimes these champions are so good it makes me want to see their original games.
This game is do addictive
She is still very sharp and intelligent
Gulf of Aqaba was big in the news at that time. This episode was toward the end of the Six Day War.
I admire bette white all her life. Gosh what a sweetheart
Frank is 37 yrs old here. He looks much younger.
Oh you know you'd bone him in a minute.
Linda's whole look was giving!!! (2022 talk) 😂
What a short haircut Bruce Boston has for 1967! That was kind of unusual for that time period unless he was in the military.
Looks like a mishap at the 💈Barbershop to me !!! Blessings from California. 🐩
When color tv was becoming popular 👏beautiful 😊
Allen Ludden was a lucky man! Betty White was hot back then!
She was gorgeous.
She was lucky too. He was a very handsome man. They were a beautiful couple, very much in love. ❤️🌹❤️
😂
Frank Gifford was handsome. Can't believe he made it out of pro ball with that face undamaged.
Hilarious.. Alan said you did everything but lay those eggs
That was particularly witty.
I love her dark hair also, she and Frank did alot of password together.
now i`ve always dug allen ludden. password, match game. great shows. seem like a cool pseudo guy. didnt know that he and betty white were married. even more. when they were married!! now ludden passed away in 1981.i remembered that. a few months before my 18th birthday & H.S. graduation. what i DIDN`T know was that he & betty white were married for 18yrs!!! their marriage being a few months before I was born in the summer of 1963!!!
My ma would have been seven months, 3 days pregnant with me during this airing. 😁
Betty what Class!
When Frank Gifford is thinking, he always looks like tumbleweeds are blowing through his brain.
I was 8 days old.
You are young!
americas sweetheart::::frank gifford...
I wish they showed the commercials too ☺️
Good clues for egg: chicken, scramble, lay
The summer of love ✌❤😊
And, irresponsible drug taking, but not much intellectual development..
The beginning of idiocy and lemming behavior as a higher ideal, most appreciated by their rulers, not at the time, but decades later..
Overly romanticized pablum and prolonged adolescence which remains to this day..
Divorce rates began to skyrocket, out of wedlock births, selfish stupidity and we continue paying the price for this dysfunctional family destroying narcissism today..
Other than that..shoooot..
he won $700. That's $6,300 in today's money 😮
Betty = Lake Placid, twinkle toes
I want to know what her skin care is cause she looks 30 in this video, not 45
Hyphenated words are not allowed as clues, is that right?
At about 11:15 Betty's partner uses the word "top-notch".
I checked a few online dictionaries and the word seems to always be hyphenated.
That's what I thought too lol
I see both.
Password Tournament champion dream matchup: Peter Lawford vs. Frank Gifford, Carol Burnett vs. Betty White
this is fun!
Good clue for keep: retain
It's Sue Ann Nivens!
Betty was so cute. Jimmy Fallon brought me here. I think were smarter back then.
we were. The US was tops in the world in education then. Today we're 27th. thank the dems for that
Roger Sturtevant? The casting director?
Alan's sign-off "see you tomorrow I hope" always seemed strange to me, even watching as a kid.
I wonder if he worried about his mortal self much.
He did die so young.
I think he was just encouraging the audience to tune in every day without fail.
I think he was worried about enough people watching so he could keep his job.
That sport caster is fine
"The Sport Caster" ... LOL
He's only one of the most famoust football players of the last century and had a INFAMOUS marriage to Kathy Lee.
Have you never SEEN a tabloid cover or been through a check out lane?
@@infonutok boomer not all of us are on our deathbeds
I'm a boomer, never heard of him. Seems a bit lispy to me.
Was 10 days from my 1st birthday here.
👶 How adorable !! I am afraid l was old enough to be your babysitter !! I was born in 1954 🧸 . Blessings from California. 🎠
You are young!
@ 3:09 the Lady says "Fuck"
Now for whoopee you probably would say makin, but goldberg.
I dont get it
How would i know that this is the Roger Sterling episode of Password??
"Let's try rascal again" is 4 words.
🤔
Watching in 2019 and I don’t know half of the words
I don't think that is something I would admit unless English is not your first language.
With Florence Henderson
Password with Florence Henderson
Mid sixties
And Lloyd Bridges
lets watch this ---simple -say my name at 9 34
Wow youtube
Although at first glance, one might think it wouldn't qualify, but for "Warble" (especially after the bird clues) one could proffer, "Wobble," (said - or sung - very enunciatedly, so as not to make the judges think that you're saying the word :-)
i thought you could not say the word inhale exhale?
Why is equivalent allowed for equal? They have the same root.
Because they are two different words. Lots of words have the same root but are different words. If they are both listed in the dictionary, then they are both stand alone words, even if their meaning is the same or similar. I can see why you may not know this because very few people use dictionaries anymore.
@@faithfulforever6331 I can see why you may be confused because lots of people jump to an over-simplified conclusion just to make a personal point on the internet nowadays. But there are instances on this show when a derivative of the password was not allowed as a clue, and let’s face it, Dr. Reason A Goodwin was not a machine.
I haven't seen that in Password.
By definition, "Equal and equivalent are terms that are used frequently in mathematics. The main difference between equal and equivalent is that the term equal refers to things that are similar in all aspects, whereas the term equivalent refers to things that are similar in a particular aspect." Equivalent can mean, but does not have to mean, equal.
@@faithfulforever6331 I don’t mean that they are not two different words, but the Password rule was, insofar as we could trust Wikipedia and as I can’t recall in which episode the rules were stated in the game, an illegal clue is when part of the password is contained in the clue. I fail to see why two words of the same root didn’t qualify under that rule.
Frank Gifford was not a good player. He gave some of the strangest clues.
He was funny to watch.
He was in a lot of pain as he was dealing with an injury
Mollie Pop Agree. Gifford was not a good player of Password. He was a good player and cheater on his wife, though.
Did he cheat with a dude?
@@sharksport01 Airline stewardess.
isthmus? wtf
Is betty wearing a wig
No.
Yes, it matches her hapsburg chin.
When Men were men and the women knew it.
And, so did the male person in question who was not questioning.
Frank Gifford is way you slow.
Where did Allen Luden get that ridiculous hairdo?
What an unacceptable amount of background hum in that studio!
Frank looks good. Lousy password player.
He wasn't that bad. He was up against Betty White who was one of the all-time best players.
Gifford was awful.
Frank Gifford didn't even know the meaning of the words.
@jNBKozmosLLC Gifford is so dense.
You can tell that they adored each other.
Frank and Allen? Yes, they did.
