Tony Randall, if you notice, when his side is losing, he blames himself, but when they win he tells his partner they played well, deferring the honor. Classy, actually.

Tony Randall is the BEST and funniest Felix Unger I ever saw. In real life, he fathered a child at 77 years of age. He was Great. Carol Lawrence got great acclaim for playing Maria on Broadway in West Side Story.

For the word Bud I was thinking Weiser for a clue. I wonder if Budweiser beer was popular during the 1960s as it is now.

Poor Carol Lawrence. Affecting singing and acting performer who, after initial successes in Broadway plays like "West Side Story" could never find her niche as a top star afterwards and then she started to look too old to be cast as ingenues. Then she had no where else to go but bad tv shows, commercials and lurid b horror movies. Show biz is indeed cruel.

I always heard she refused the casting couch. People often talk about how pure the 50s and 60s were...far from it.

She seems to me to have the physical presence of Julie Newmar, but sweeter. Her prime was before my time, but I remember her singing and dancing on variety shows. I know her name and remember her just from her guest appearances. I did not think she was too old. During that time, youth was valued but not as much as it is now. From these videos, I now know she was very beautiful.

@@eyextacy8412 Since before Shakespeare there were casting couches. Show business has never been considered a moral business, with only a few exceptions, historically, it was always considered low status, low class, until the flickers came in to create the larger than life stars on the screen. There's a reason why actors and actresses historically were considered equal status in society as prostitutes and rent boys. The reason the casting couch exists is because so many played that game over the centuries (including some of the biggest stars of the film era~ male and female) they accepted the couch then took the parts resulting.
