- Hello everyone! This is my first one year tasting of a cider that I have made on this channel! This one is my Blueberry Lemon Cider and it is the first cider that I would recommend that people make from this channel.
It has a nice red-wine like presence, but really lacks the lemon note that would make this cider more well balanced. While it misses the mark on that, I still quite liked this cider and think that it is a nice crisp and refreshing cider that aged quite well!
I liked watching all 3 videos in a row
Hey Kevin! This came to me through the algorithm. Your videos are pretty cool topics to cover and I've not seen much like it on here (at least for the common viewer and not an enthusiast on brewing.) This video in particular was an attention grabber and really like what you're going for. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks! I really enjoy home brewing and try and pass that on to anyone who will listen to me :)
a lot of the essential oils lie within the peels of citrus.. I suggest lemon zest avoiding the white pith under the yellow, the white pith will add bitter notes..
Yeah, that is true. I didn't have my wonderful zester that I own now when I made this one, but I agree that it would be the best option, if not a little annoying to do so much zesting for 5 gallons! The sacrifices that we make to homebrew.
Great video. I've always passed over blueberry ciders thinking they were gimmicky but I'll have to try one now on this recommendation. Question: how did you store the cider for a year? In your earlier video you had kegged the cider. A year is a lot of time to use valuable kegerator space...
Good question. I force carb then bottle using The Last Straw from Northern Brewer about 1 gallon of each batch. Then, I pasteurize the bottles and store them in my cellar.
Keg space is definitely at a premium.
Maybe you could it just add lemon zest or better yet lemongrass (tinance) on the bottle so flavour will remain you want it.
Other than that, nice job on the brew, something i wanna give it ago in the future! :)
That's an interesting idea!
@@CiderWithKevin Yeah, i started add flavours on the bottle for my spiced cider
