Are you able to name some of the locations at the start of this video. Thanks
MINE COMES TODAY!!! Just turned 72 haven't been this excited in a long time will save this video for future use THANKS!!!!!
Kev's voice in this video sounds like a professional guy talking 😂😂
i was camera shy
Haha😂
True
😂😂
Lol, now he’s louder then a talk show host!!! A lot better louder. He seems exited and it makes me exited.
Kevin talbot, 4yrs ago, u are so calm and chill compared to your modern day self. Interesting going back in time with these old videos eveyr once Ina while
Amazing video for a xmaxx beginner like me. Thank you
best Xmaxx rebuild video on CZcams! love this video!
I watched the whole thing and I don’t even own a x max 😂
Same here.
Grant Andrews, same lol
Grant Andrews ... I watched this vid and I ain’t even got a rc car of any description ... seriously thinking of getting an x-max tho ,
Same 😂😂
Dave, an X Maxx is a really bad choice as a first rc car. Start with a rustler or stampede or something.
Had one of my XMAXX’s completely disassembled for 3 years, building it now, thank god for the schematics! Easy to work on though. Just keeping track of were to put the bolts that are in a zip lock bag. Lol having a build one helps to!
Fantastic vid, Kev. This is by far the best tear down and rebuild of the X-Maxx that I've seen. I learned a ton. Thank you for posting this.
This was very interesting to watch! Reminded me of when I was a teenager building and rebuilding my Clodbuster.
I had a Clodbuster too, and Big Boss...same era !!!
The front tires where on backwards
Im am not the only person who hates it when people mount the front tires wrong. I think he mounted the front tires backwards for more grip while braking but it looks stupid.
@@olivier_w7395 I agree but i don't hate it. RC has alot of personal preference things involved, and some people might like it that way some don't. Have a nice day man 🤟
In general I've found its for the traction in reverse...you spend alot of time trying to back out of situations lolololol
The front tires are always in the air anyways
He does that so he gets grip when he reverses.
I really appreciate this video. I just got my first X-Maxx, bought it used so I need to take it apart like you to tune it up. Bought new parts too.
Am I the only one that doesn't wear gloves to work on my RCs?
nope
Nope
Justin Green nope
I wear gloves but they rip so easily. So I basically don't wear gloves...
I don't!
Nice one Kev‼️ How to clean in a good way, I'm no expert. This helps a lot‼️
I wonder after 3 years if he sees this. Kev, you’ve improved so much over the years. I’ve watched you from the beginning and you are honest on every rc car you test.
I have to say I really enjoyed this fix it video were u tore the hole truck down. You really are my favorite R/C CZcamsr.
Great video that was a lot of work👍
Hey Kev... amazing video. Only one question... why are the front paddle tires installed the wrong way? 🤣 I can't be the only one who noticed that.
lel
it will submarine with 1st water crossing xD
I noticed, I have run dual paddles, and the fronts will shovel copious amounts of sand into the car/drivetrain..thats a guess, or, he just put them on wrong..lol
BEST X-MAXX REBUILD ON THE NET FOR ME THIS WILL BE THE ONLY WAY WHEN MY TIME COMES.
Very helpful and entertaining at the same time. Thanks for posting!
I don't even own a xmaxx and watched this from start to finish!!!
Nice to see you giving your trucks some love for once.
I am sure the noise was figured out awhile ago but mine made a similar noise and I looked at the same things you did. In the end my noise came resulted from one of the bearings in the motor that went out causing the motor shaft to rub on the inside. Thanks for the great content!
Kevin your awesome you are the one that taught me how to grease gears and take care of the car thx I really appreciate what you do
Hey Kev didn't go all through your comments but I was thinking the aluminum driveshaft may have stripped out, I noticed there was a lot of slip back and forth and at any givin moment the shaft could be further on either the front or the back pinion gear splines, I added an o rig to take up some of the slop and it will flex and squish with chassis movement. Just an idea! An awesome video for sure!!! Great job
Thinking about that That's a good idea I've actually had that happen myself on another truck. I hope that was what was wrong just because that's a very good idea and I'm mad I didn't think of it. Not my video but good comment my friend
I'm loving your videos. This one is fantastic to see what goes into a total strip down and rebuild. Keep up the good work. There's no one else on this earth who bashes an X-maxx as hard as you do hahaha.
haha I try my best :) Cheers
I loved seeing it jump out an upper story window. Unexpected and fun. Impressive!
My 6S diff break after 3-4 runs, thanks for the advice with the 8S diff.
Great video, Kev!!!!
Very fun to watch. Going to rebuilt my tmaxx soon.
Drone Matrix It's cool to see another Maxx owner. I have a emaxx myself. Most people have revos
Tmaxx is the way to go
How the hell do you remember where everything goes? Well done kev! I love diy and how to videos!
Hey Kevie Kev - Loved watching the clean, it’s so satisfying as a viewer to see before and after haha. Remember ‘stay low, move fast and trust no one’.
Definitely the center driveshaft I have a cut through one completely. It's amazing that that The plastic will cut that center driveshaft in half
I just watched this and was like damn. Lot of work.... I’m lazy and just buy a new one lol.
I know this is an older video, but wow, you are so much more calm in this, you really show your passion for the cars when you are rebuilding these, love this video man.
Really enjoy watching ur xmaxx tear down n rebuilds. Thanku kev
Amazing looks brand new, a lot of work though, paid off though thumbs up 👍🏻
If I attempted this, My RC would end up in a box in the garage no chance I'd ever get it back together correctly.
Watch a video while you're doing it, also take pictures as it comes apart so you know where certain parts go.
Nah it’s not that hard , I was 11 when I completely rebuilt my slash 4x4 , only problems I had was gear mesh.
@@sbworks2047 not easy for everyone though slash is not as intimidating
Bear gear mesh was the biggest SOB for me but once u see once how its set u pretty much know how to do it forever.
Me to I’m not capable of remembering and doing this I only do easy stuff like shocks arms sometimes even riffs if I need to get back in action
Try marine greses has to be blue stuff on all moving parts have to do maintance half as much
Can I use white marine grease?

@@hootingshark8068 fdgdhd
The difference i hear in this video and now is insane! You've really gotten a long way!
This has become one of my most watched channels. Would love to get into this hobby but worried about the maintenance
It was one of the housings or structural pieces that were cracked and enabling the gears to separate from each other?
What was it in the end? Iwas thinking this and also wondering if the wheels hex nuts or drive pins were stripped out.
@@izzzzzz6 Not sure to be honest, I didn't see it mentioned in any posts as of yet.
The Xmaxxes have come a long way, and so has this channel. From hard bashing, to brutal breaks. I love to see it new again. It looks better than ever! Another astonishing video Kevin!
Thanks dude, means a lot :) Cheers
Went from ex-lax to X-MAX! Looks better than ever! It's ALIVE! Great video Dr. Kev!
Piece of thick as fits in there steel bar for the center driveshaft?
Wait he said “COOKIES” THATS ILLEGAL
I love x maxxes
I love refrigerators.
I love x maxxes
Only if they did not cost 1000
me to
I've had to drill out so many screws on my slash 😂 nice video, makes me want to rebuild my slash
Hard to beat a good xmaxx bash session!
Great footage!
yea the wheels are backward but nice vid mate!!!😁
they r put like that so u have grab in reverse
TheoneNonly why do you need grip in reverse?
Nope, that's how they are supposed to go for max grip, so the treads dig into the ground.
you want paddle tires for skipping water
Yeah the front ones need to go on the opposite of each other.
Nice vid mate... getting my own xmaxx soon.... also if you havent already... swap your two front wheels around the tyres are backwards
It'd for reverse traction
@@williammiller9776 There is no such reason as reverse traction. Every person in the known universe has all four tires digging forward for optimum traction in sand and very loose terrain.
@EX JW Not everybody has there paddles facing forwards. Not everybody uses paddles for sand. Its smart to have your tires like kevs if you want traction going forward and backwards. You want forward traction to move forwards and you want reverse traction to backup if you get stuck. But if you want to go just forwards sure you can put all digging forwards but you’ll get next to no traction going backwards.
@@timothy9438 I have lived around sand a lot of my life and off roaded in sand with quads and other vehicles and nobody ever put half their tires the wrong way. You make absolutely no sense with your theory so you might want to give up while you are behind.
@@timothy9438 for example go watch formula off road they have 4 wheel drive and all tires digging and they still get unstuck a good percentage of the time. you really want forward momentum more than worry about reverse traction.
I'm new to this channel. BUT I LOVE IT!!! Thanks Kev😎
You are the Mechanic Doctor, highest respect
Kevin, abuse is an understatement!! You bashed the hell out of the truck!!! Great repair video! WowW what a difference!! Keep the content coming!!
The 2 front tires are backwards, great rebuild though
Female Drummer thought i was the only 1 peeped that🤷🏽♂️🤣
Reversing the cups on the front tires helps keep it afloat as the back tires propel it. The backwards paddles slap the water as opposed to scooping into it as much as the rear. Keeps it from nose diving. Lift the front and push with the rear. 👍👍
@@MrPooPooTuTu I figured he had a reason for setting the tires up that way.
aaaaaah you know what kind off music i like ! top song on begining !
I am in waiting for my snap on 8s tool van. great video, because I know im going to break it at some point. this gave me a pretty good idea of my xmaxx. but I can see if your going to strip it completely down im going to have to organize the screws for sure. it actually fun and a challenge.
Dude I need to get that cleaning stuff that makes plastic look new!! What was it called?
muck off, wd40 works too :)
Wd40
GT85 is more kind to plastics and rubber avoid WD40
Gt85. As said above avoid the wd40
Funny how is name is RC king yet he doesn’t even know what Muck Off is.
When the front bulk head broke, it cause a lack of connection and drive to the front diff. As the car has a center diff, then the diff started to redistribute power and caused lack of drive.
Funny thing was it lost most of its drive before the bulkhead broke. I'll take it out over the weekend if I get time and test it
Kevin Talbot it is likely ok now after the rebuild. Just explaining why you lost most drive. Most 4wd cars are mainly driven by the front tires. That is why in racing full scale cars you drive 4wd the same way as front wheel drive cars.
Kev I just joined your channel I used to use epoxy resin as sets well hard keep up the good work bro I have just got am arrma voltage 4 s as sold my collection due to lockdown n lack of cash so trying to build it bk up again now as didn't sell my voltage as new I'd restock at some point lol once a rc nut all ways an rc nut I'm 46 n never gro old of rc rc4life
you seem slightly crazy and awesome at the same time! GREAT VIDEO!!!
You should do like £100 xmaxx rebuilds
He makes too much money for that lmao
You forgot to wash out the speed controller and change your blinker fluid..
Most things are throwaway now a days, especially toys, not this Traxxas, wore it out and it got a total rebuild. Truly a great hobby, fun with mechanical skills. Could literally help learn with real vehicles, only thing different is size...great vid👍
Appreciate all you do Kev.
We need to see this beast in action! Just sayin'!
38:36 well that is what happens when you replace 70% of the parts lol
Хорошая работа!
Мастер на все руки👏👏👏
I loved it, thinking about buying me one!.
The front wheels incorrectly set.)))
Maybe he put them on backwards for reverse driving.
dose he know he put the front tire on backwards the front left should got on the front right and opposite
B Deshi when people get new tires they put them on backwards then once there broken in they will swap them on correctly. it makes your tires wear evenly and last longer
Hi!
Perfect vid, thanks :-) Did you fint out what was the slip problem?
I recommend trying to use an ultrasonic bath to clean bearings of different sizes in a large number. Also, when I clean any bearings, I remove both seals so that the sand and old grease are better washed out. What do you do with cracks and breakdowns of body parts? They are easy to order are there any commenters? The original ones probably cost as half of the new model.
P.S. Can I talk more about the WLToys 14001, in particular about compatibility with larger diameter wheels? I want to order it and then try to remake it into something similar to tuggy.
How would anybody remember where everything goes and how it goes together
Keep doing it over and over throughout ur hobby experience and you’ll remember it, I can take everything apart and throw it in a bag and put it all back together, but like he said keep the screws next to the part where you took them off and that will help
Yeah..i would put it back together and ask what do you do with all these left over parts/screws
how much did it cost to rebuilt the whole truck again?
around £50 ish
I’m 5 years late to this video, but I love it! I wish you’d make some of these today. Thanks Kev!
This video is going to help me with my X Maxx. Thanks Kev!
Nice video man ! Please do some hydroplane video with these new tire ! 👍👍👍 Oh and also first comment again !
I will do soon :)
Worldtech96 Gaming cool cars
THE VERY DEFINITION OF RC HOBBIES ! amazing video excellent tips and detailed thank you man
Do you use the pin system or do you manually adjust the mesh? I keep blowing spur gears.
nice vid mate. keep up the great work! and action! ;) picked up a used v2 xmaxx sunday after selling my v1. toking forward to running it! cheers and thumbs UP!
Wow, what an awesome tear down and rebuild video. Thanks for this.
I love watching yu do this keep up the good work and good new I fix my boby to my rc I broke the spoiler off it and I fix it
Thanks for the picture of the receiver wiring. I needed this info a while ago, and couldn't find it anywhere.
One of your best movies... loved to see you wrenching
Your videos are golden gold! Absolutely love em. Thank you and keep ‘em comin!!
I could never put that back together in a million years! Wow!
Now that I (FINALLY! :-) have my own X-Maxx, this video make me really appreciate the brilliant engineering of this platform. It' seems baffling that Traxxas has not used it for more than just a monster-truck. It could also be a giant buggy, a quad, a side-by-side, etc.
thank's for that cool video !
You have a good memory my boy! Also, you take so good care of your cars inside the shop, just to totally wreck them a min later, to funny!
Hey Kevin, what's your wheels and tires set up on the TRX4?
try wooden dowel for prop shaft. or some tail shaft from heli, push in and glue or what have you
Excellent video man! Thanks for posting this! Very helpful!
Love that rebuild looks nice
What an amazing video! I’m looking at my new x maxx I’ve just unboxed it and your restored version looks better! Excellent work Kev. I’ve been a subscriber for about 2 weeks and I love this channel 👍
New to the channel and I love the builds you do. I like the bashing but more builds and repairs please
Gave me confidence to rebuild my 10 year old traxxas nitro car. Thanks!
You can use a few ball bearings in the outer part of the drive shaft for reinforcements
Nice to see how its rebuild an i will wait to see what you game up to with
Hi Kevin thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us. I just have a question and not sure if I'm correct in saying or assuming that your front tyres are facing the wrong way.
nice job on the video...I never knew that it was so complicated!
