Great idea for a comedy sketch. The problem is the time it takes to spin the wheel and get to final letters. Comedy builds and each epic fail would get funnier. SNL would only have time for one puzzle.

I know, and all you'll ever see of this guy was how bad he was, but he cleaned house on 2 or 3 other puzzles. He wasn't as bad a player as he would have appeared. I remember thinking the same thing at the time how did someone that blotches so bad win.

I was mad at the game for not giving him Achilles (he was clearly saying that word, just with incorrect pronunciation).

Honestly that first one I disagree with. Yeah, it's pretty bad to not know Achilles, but at the same time he actually pronounced all of the letters present. It's not like when people lose because they accidentally added an 'S' sound to the end of a word.
Besides that, what happens if someone on the show had a British accent and there was a word they genuinely pronounce completely differently like "advertisement"?

For those a bit confused: for the second one, both T and R were already used, so it couldn’t be Cat or Car. Plus the category was “person.”
On the third, P was already used so it couldn’t be “dicespin” (which I don’t think is even a word).
The Achilles one was unfortunate but the other two were legitimately bad blunders.

As an African-American, I can understand the struggle with it not being “on the spot dice spin“. You see, shooting dice is ingrained in our DNA. A dicespin is statically more likely than a decision.

It's funny that even after he got all the letters he still needs to pronounce it correctly. Here in Brazil this kind of show is very famous, it's on television every weekend but the participants just need to get all the letters, the correct pronunciation is not necessary

Actually they didn't even need to get all letters.
When there's 3 letters missing, a 5 sec countdown starts to let the participant think and then guess the answer, if he doesn't know or guess it wrong, then the next participant rolls again and guess the answer.

This reminded me of a old 90’s British game show, that I watch, repeats of, a little on some random channel and I kid you not, the contestant clearly said “PASS” after the round, the host reads out questions, he just asked contestants and the answers come up on screen, for viewers. He clearly said “PASS” and the host reads question, says and you said PARIS “ and the contestant had the most awkward grin/ look on his face because he knew that he didn’t say Paris. Anyway, he went on to win the money and car 😭 imagine being that guy.
