    I’m from Memphis and It’s wonderful that beautiful southern delta blues has I influenced artists around the world!

      @TheWashboardResonators  Před 2 lety +2

      Southern American music has being influencing Europeans for centuries. Just the huge amounts of 1830-1930 made banjos you find in British antique shops will attest to that.

    I like the rugged cat scratch though lol if it's a an old beaten acoustic.

      Me too. Cat scratch is great on the right songs. It’s good to have both sounds. Many only have the cat scratch and wonder they can’t control single notes properly or sound like Tampa Red or Derek Trucks.

      Manuel Omil Thats great! It’s meant to open up the idea of this style of playing by having a song in each tuning. If you like it then there are great videos, DVDs of books that go into loads of detail. 👌🏻

      @@TheWashboardResonators Well you definitely brought me in! I'll try to learn a bit more, it's not as difficult as I thought it to be
      still trying to get the grasp on that alternating bass, and there's probably a long journey till I get my intonation right, but it sure is fun!

    This is very helpful and I’m really trying. It’s quite fast though! Not having played much guitar before I would really love a Slow Blues tune to get me used to moving up and down and picking strings. I’ve sort of mastered playing along with the 12 bar Slow Blues Jam track on the Beginners video but it gets a bit boring after a while. I feel a Slow Blues song would really help bridge the gap for me between the Beginners video and this one. But I’ll keep trying!!😊

    • @TheWashboardResonators
      @TheWashboardResonators  Před rokem +1

      Check our lessons playlist for other lessons which might help. I’ll put slow blues on the potential video list though!

      @@TheWashboardResonators Thank you Martyn. I’ve done as suggested and am finding Death Letter Blues easier to get going on. Cocaine Blues also looks more like my cup of tea! It’s easier of course when you already know the tunes very well. I need to expand my listening! If you’re open to suggestions “Sitting on Top of the World” I feel would be a good slow starter one for beginners although I know that’s more Country Blues. Thanks for all your help.

    Thank you, Martyn, for such an enjoyable introduction to slide play guitar.
    I have noted Diamond Bottlenecks, thanks, and they have quite a wide range. Are there perhaps learning sources you could suggest, either books or online please?

    • @TheWashboardResonators
      @TheWashboardResonators  Před 4 lety +2

      CJ That’s wonderful. Ian at Diamond Bottlenecks has a huge range. If you’re struggling then there is no one more helpful to talk to. I think to go the whole way with it Tom Feldman has a DVD on bottleneck that is excellent.

      Depends on the guitar but essentially daddario coated on the gigging guitars or Newtone on the home / recording guitars. Both good options. 16’s on the slide guitar and 13s on a standard tuned guitar.
