Back from early days, wonderful songs like these it will never be behind the times.
I could actually cry....this is sooooo cool!!! We're so fortunate to have grown up with people like this performing and producing this quality music....NOT like the crap of today!!!!!!!!! "Better to have lived and loved, than never to have loved before!"
Thank you Jimmy. You were a real hero to me and a vocal inspiration. I trust you and I will sing to God in Glory.
Since I told have you ! Janet high C note was incredible.
One of the great doo woop songs .
Jimmy vocal has rich warm feeling .
Bravo
😀🙋♂️🏆👍
Rest in peace Jimmy. True legend and pioneer
One of the most beatiful songs I've ever heard
True nostalgia. I'm 74, and raised in Wisconsin. I've had the following on my playlist for decades: Since I Don't Have You, This I Swear, The Loser (Jack Taylor on the lead), Somewhere Over the Rainbow, When I Fall in Love and I'll Be Seeing You. This group and their music was an extension of WWII's Greatest Generation of people. It will never return and is a tremendous loss.
Mr Beaumont your still a class act and thank you for all the great doowop music
Jimmy Was my Favorite lead singer of any Group Growing up, A voice that when you heard him, You thought about Slow Dancing, with your Favorite Girl at that time etc.50 yrs later you still feel like that, Even today, Times gone by, But not forgotten.
Rest In Peace. Your memory will be eternal 🙏🏻🌹
Great interview...will miss this man tremendously
Miss you Jimmy so very much. I have been listening to you since forever. You have such an unbelievable voice Rest In Peace my friend✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
This I swear ..what a super great song ! Since I Don’t have you, also. Fantastic songs !
"This I Swear" is our song and we able to dance to it two weeks ago at our 50th Wedding Anniversary party.
I've always admired Mr. Beaumont's voice, so it is a pleasure to hear him converse here. He seems to be a good decent man, and still handsome too.
What a great interview with Jimmy B - is now and always has been one of the classiest and most knowledgeable spokesman for the Skyliners and other classic vocal harmony groups of the '50's and '60's.
One of the very best lead voices of the entire era.
Right you are the Best.He was.
I'd say he was the best
Steve52344
Yes he has a stand out voice.
@Mark Ehrlich You left out the best lead voice of them all: Tony Williams of the Platters.
@Mark Ehrlich I understand what you're saying. I grew up and sang in that doo-wop era with a number of NYC groups. None of us attempted Platters' songs because no one even came close to Williams' voice. But...they weren't "adult pop." The Four Aces and Four Lads were "pop."
The Platters were a bridge between Tin Pan Alley and R&B with enough elements of doo-wop in their structure and sound to please the ears of the young rock & roll culture. Even though they didn't sing up-tempo R&R, their ballads were rhythmic with a great lead voice and splendid group harmony.
The only other lead singers in Williams' class were Homer Dunn of the Rivieras (on Coed) and Ray Pollard of the Wanderers. And then of course, as a soloist, you had Jackie Wilson whose voice was on par with the great Tony Williams.
R.I.P. Jimmy...10-6-2017
RIP Jimmy Beaumont. Thank YOu.
Thanks For This Post - Great Group " Since I Don't Have You " is probably one of the best songs ever written !
Absolutely love this group, their music, their style and will always be fond of Jimmy's voice. Still listen to their music to this day.
What a hauntingly beautiful voice. I was 12 when I first heard the Skyliners. I did not know who the lead singer was, but I fell in love with the lead voice and the lovely lyrics! RIP Mr. Beaumont!
Jimmy - you're the greatest! And there in Wrightsville, no less!
Very very good to watch and remember... long way from Rochelle St.
Jimmy talks about playing at the Apollo Theater and being concerned about how the mostly black audience would receive him and the Skyliners. Back in the '70s I was working in Washington, D.C., and had a black co worker who said he went to see the Skyliners at the Howard Theater in D.C., also a mostly black acts and audience theater at the time. I remember he told me he thought the Skyliners were a black group and how surprised they were when they saw the Skyliners were a white group. My wife and two friendsI saw the Skyliners back on February 10, 2013 when they played in Sebring, Florida, at the Tanglewood Club House. At the end of the show I shook Jimmy's hand and told him that I thought Since I Don't Have You was, IMO, the best Doo Wop song of all times. Never, back in 1959 did I ever think I would one day meet Jimmy to shake his hand 54 years later!
I was told years back that The Skyliner took the theater down, she said the audience kept calling for encores. She said they where absolutely AWESOME
Black people don't care what you are . . . as long as you can perform. No thinking about it, Since I Don't Have You IS the best Doo Wop song of all time.
....Nicely put together ...The Interview mixed with the soundchecks....Right out of one of the absolute greatest eras for music....
I listen to the Skyliners everyday, sweriously!
The perfect music sky liners forever
Thank you for the post. Jimmy had his wonderful day in the sun along with his fellow singers -- and what a marvelous day it was. Well-deserved. This I Swear and Since I Don't Have You ... two monolithic songs, both of which I love. And Jimmy's lead vocals were superb. And Janet with her earth shattering divine note at the end ... oh, my!
What great singer man, I love the Skyliners!

Roberto Clemente one of the greats in baseball.
Requiescant in pace, Janet. +
In 1949-1950, bandleader, Ray Anthony, had a vocal group calling themselves, The Skyliners, which consisted of three males and one female. Having a female voice in a group goes way back, long before songwriter, Buck Ram, start managing what would later become, The Platters, in the 1950's. In fact, Buck Ram knew about the 1930's & 40's groups, like The Pied Pipers (w/ Jo Stafford or June Hutton), The Modernaires (w/ Paula Kelly), Donna (Wood) & Her Don Juans, The Quintones (40's group which Buck Ram had some association), The Four Hits & A Miss, The Snowflakes, The G-Noters, etc. etc. which is why he liked The Platters with Zola Taylor.
How about The Johnny Long Orchestra featuring the vocal group, The Beachcombers? Johnny was my Godfather.
He sounds like he suffered from COPD. Never saw any mention of it... RIP, Jimmy.
Yes, I though so too, immediately, and the lip smacking. My dad did that he had COPD, and would smack when he wasn’t wearing his oxygen in his nose.
RIP JIMMY
the best ever
The interviewer has a great Pixburgh accent, an' 'at.
I recall White Swan Park...but where was the Ballroom....
what can you say about these singers then BRILL
