When it came to HOF voting, poor Bill got his ass handed to him by a whole slew of inferior players. Not sure why this happens with some players. He was a great player whose stats hold up well to modern scrutiny.

Bobby tells a famous story and forgets what the actual call was. It was catcher's interference, not a catchers balk. If it was a balk then how did the batter end up getting first base? The runner was safe at second regardless. Piazza caught the ball basically in fair territory before it ever got the the plate which technically speaking prevented the batter from having an opportunity to hit the ball.

Wert was HUGE in helping the Tigers win the WS that year. just imagine if he cuts off Willie's throw home that Freehan was able to snag and tag out Lou Brock. he cuts that off and Brock is safe and the series never swings back to the Tigers direction. small move but big implications.

I was at a Tiger's game in 1967 when I was nine, and some fan threw a tennis ball onto the field. But from a distance it looked like a baseball. Mickey, in center, picked up the ball and threw it back to the infield, straight at the head of one of the umps! The ump jumped at least ten feet to one side, thinking it was a full on baseball coming at him. It was a pretty hillarious moment that I'll never forget.

Cory wells was nearly a family member who is featured in several of our playlists as 'cory the entertainer' which is just what he was especially in the BRILLIANT 2002 concert in dixon Tennessee as all of "three dog night" plus the fabulous Tennessee orchestra in essentially perfect- blend. We saw a change coming over him not long after that with a dip in his spontaneously spot- on humor, a look of sadness & loss topped with a new clamp on what had been- openness regarding himself personally and seemingly down about age/life progression best summed up as a keen and frightening awareness of the 'show finally coming to a permanent close'- we [soooo] regret not taking more initiative as we usually will- to 'keep digging' to hopefully unleash the aging related 'monsters' that many of us have been troubled by as yet another decade flashes past us as if "what?•When?•How? Seems to repeat" without fail. We probably couldn't have changed the outcome of cory's later years yet it never fails to slide into any conversation related to music / the 1970's, etc. We miss 'cory the musical entertainer' often until it hurts. We can only wish the best for cory's other friends and certainly•• family. May God bless you/us all❤

My very first MLB game I attended was at Tiger Stadium. I immediately became a life-long Tiger fan from then on. My dad and I were at every home game during '68 Series against the Cardinals. Never ever forget watching my heroes play ball! After they moved to Comerica Park, my wife and I visited the spot of old Tiger Stadium. I managed to stand on the pitcher's mound and at home plate, thinking of all those that stood there. I left with a jar of dirt from both positions. Go Tigers!
