The biggest compromise of all that camera hardware is the image processing that Samsung does. Because it is a Korean company, they lean more towards skin brightening/smoothing over sharpness/detail.

This was the only disappointment when I heard about the phone. Luckily it's boxed with USB-C headphones, so that works well enough for me
I think Google should start selling their camera algorithms to Samsung. It'll be a mind blowing combination.

@@wehtam61eoj I feel like they should've made it automatic. For example, when you're using it for internet browsing or playing games, set it to 1080p/120hz. While when you're using it for Netflix or CZcams HDR, set it to 1440p/60hz.

So two times wider = two times more zoom for the same image quality.

I enjoy your reviews normally but I thought this review was a bit odd. Not that I'm expecting an amazing feedback for the S20 Ultra but you were pretty hung up on face smoothing for the Camera compared to the fact the Camera is actually much more advanced than the things you mentioned about it in general. I understand the Camera is what most people will be talking about with this phone but the performance on this phone, especially the haptic feedback (which you didn't mention) are amazing compared to any other android phone. This phone is BIG but it has crazy amount of features you didn't even address so i feel for some reason this is kind of a half-hearted review lol. Also after watching other reviews S20 Ultra, you definitely skipped over a bunch of things.

What better way to do that than to talk about the phone in more detail. What's the initial point of the review from your channel then if you're going to be half-hearted about it. Because it is ‘flagship phone’. It means this phone should be good in every way. Even though S20U has awesome features like 120Hz or better haptic, those camera issue is enough to disappoint the consumer.
This is the most positive review of a Samsung phone I’ve ever seen him do... this has to be the best thing out.. I might legit cop. He mentioned apple sub 20x... that’s a first,

It's rumored. That doesn't mean it will happen. Back in the days it was also rumored that Samsung will release an update so that the Note8 can shot 4K60 but that never happened.
I think there's a reason why Samsung wasn't doing that out of the box. 5-6h SoT with 5000 mAh is actually kinda bad.

It's good to have an iOS user review Android phones for a balanced perspective rather than just Android fanbois doing it. MKBHD wears an apple watch but is quite neutral in his reviews, as was this review and reviewer. I didn't feel any bias pro apple or against Samsung or Android.

zoom, in my opinion, is actually a really important tool in photography. the portrait shots look so much better when zoomed in compared to shots on the primary camera, and that is without using portrait mode.

Samsung uses 3 images for their 3 focal lengths, a group of trees, 2 trees and one tree, for the ultrawide, main and telephoto lenses, respectively. When at 4x, the 2 trees image is highlighted, but when switching to 5x or above, the single tree is highlighted, showing that the lens in use is the telephoto. Not to mention that clicking on the single tree takes you to 5x zoom, as seen in some other videos

Can't wait to see a shootout between this and new Sony Xperia 1ii. Love that Sony brought back the audio jack, kept the facing stereo speakers, dual SIM, sdcard and fingerprint scanner in power button. Might be just me but good old fingerprint scanners are still better than under screen or face unlock.
The camera fight should be interesting too.
We know iPhone, Samsung, Pixel cameras are good but Sony offers some interesting options that I would like to see properly tested. Seems like they offer tons of manual controls for photo and videos typically only found on dedicated cameras. Would also be great to see how that giant 12mp sensor in the Sony compares to the 108mp sensor in the Samsung. Especially in low light. Also wonder how good both will do in slow mo or with fast moving objects that you typically dont really test.
lastly from what I have seen it seems like Sony has less bloat than most others and fairly fast Android updates, not as good as OnePlus or Pixels but still better than the rest, it should be a interesting match-up
Great first look at the S20. Hoping I will see a review on screen brightness comparisons and white color evaluations as this is very important to me.

That's because you can't beat physics. Most people think that optical zoom is lossless but it's not, because of diffraction.
The diffraction limit gives you the resolution of the lens, which is independent of the sensor's resolution.
Design wise, it's almost a home run for me. Looks really premium and I'm a big fan of square camera modules. Personally, I'd prefer the front camera to be on the side. It looks odd in the middle.

Why not have a 90hz option? Might be a good enough refresh rate for some while still having a better battery life than 120hz.
Because 120hz only affects battery life by 10% according to Samsung. That's not significant.
I've had my S20 for almost a week now and only used it on 120hz. Battery life is fantastic. No complaints

For decades, reviewers complained about Samsung's beauty mode for aggressive skin smoothing. Nothing has changed and unfortunately never will.
Why is that when reviewers talk about the refresh rate, they never upload their video at in 60fps to show us?
Because all phones work on 60hz so seeing it in 60 fps would make no difference. You would need a 120 fps screen to see the 120 hz refresh rate.

They cant be a lot to complain about on this phone it just has everything except for headphone jack .
In a lot of places a phone can utilize LTE aggregation (displayed as LTE+), and ultimately you receive faster speeds than midband 5G. However, speed is often irrelevant in the present and at least a few years into the future until data caps are changed to accommodate the faster speeds or removed altogether.

Dieter Awesome Video really enjoyed and absolutely think some are missing where you could use the Zoom lens when you are looking for a place and you want to see or when you get lost like I did while walking instead of jumping in car could have used it,Also for being at a event and you are not up close enough so I can see where it will be useful so actually like that.I also have to go see it in person because we all know that Samsung devices have incredible displays so must be Awesome on this one.Great Video always enjoy Deb 😉👍✌

Nothing expect brag that their phone has more ram than others even though they’ll just end up using their phones for social media and some entertainment such as Netflix or CZcams lol. Or probably, occasionally, some games

The S20 Ultra is the Tyson Fury of the smartphone world. Big, clever, can clip you from any angle even 100x zoom lol and puts big dossers like Apple down.

we now about the pictures, but how about the audio while recording video? What are the specs for the audio recorder? Would it perform good at different settings, such as loud places, concerts, events etc. Samsung galaxy phones, have had usually a bad audio recorder. I know there are external mics and artifacts to enhance that but, why to pay the flagship price to have to add external devices.
