Just lovely seeing the whole process with all that work 😊 How exciting to have a Woodfire down the road from you. It seems that the US & Canada appreciates handmade pottery much more than the UK, as lots of people would much prefer to spend as little as possible on functional pieces, but maybe I’m generalising to much 😆 So to me I think you are in the right place to have a successful Business as you are proving…

Thanks Mel. I have an artist friend in Yorkshire who was thrilled when he sold a piece, then over a year went by before selling another. Different medium to us but it reinforces what you are saying. I only did a couple of craft fairs in Kent before moving here but I remember selling very poorly. I think we have been lucky and timing is everything. We are living the dream making clay work so life could be a lot worse.

@@Vsmithpots It’s definitely a cost thing as well, you mentioned that about your stencil mugs and it so good that you do these videos on CZcams, so people are seeing the work involved in every process of pottery 😊 As I said much earlier to you I need to start making my own videos, but very much like Jackie! I need a guided push and confidence 😆

Excellent video, as always. Your layering and patience is so admirable - comes with practice I am sure. The most interesting to me is the news about building your new studio, which you just sort of slipped in there (maybe I missed it before) - really looking forward to the development and building. Cheers!

just a first on the new studio layout, which I hope I never need, only half the size of the boat house studio. Best be prepared since the ocean off shore is already warmer than in July. Storms are bound to be severe this year.

Thanks for sharing this technique. Question on your handles - do you ever bother waxing handle joints to deal with cracking? If I don't, my handles tend to crack along where they seam into the side of the pot.

I use scissors for simple pieces, exacto knife for houses and straight edge stencils. I use a scroll saw for curvy sided stencils. Here it is on Amazon. (www.amazon.ca/dp/B000022313?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details).
