It's hot out there Scotty. 🥵, hot and steamy here in south Georgia.
Hey Scotty, are the new Lexus IS good compared to the older ones. Like I have a 2018 IS300 3.5 V6 and I'm wondering if it will last.
I have a 2000 Ford Focus (first year) and it's still going strong with 489,000 miles. Original engine & transmission.
@@GarrettYarbrough Warm 90 F here in western Oregon but with breeze is comfortable. Just really bright sunlight!
I thought Scotty died again
He did he just doesn't know it yet
"Bring out your dead." He's not quite dead yet.
😂
RIP
He won't stay buried.
I'm so sorry to hear about the terrible news. Remember, you're not alone in this. I'm here for you, and we'll get through this together, one step at a time. You're stronger than you think, and I believe in you.
Hahahaha
I've got an 07 focus with the manual transmission and it has 296k miles and it's running great
Nice
truly a keeper
Lucky guy, they rust so easily in Canada
@@acenewholland564 Don't they have undercarriage treatments to fend off rust?

OMG,

I love my 1978 Ford Pinto, my daily driver. Still turns heads, and stomachs.
I can attest to this. I had a 2005 Focus ZX5 hatchback. Bought it in September 2004 and traded it September 2014. It had 214,000 miles and the only problem I had with it was the alternator. I went everywhere in it and delivered mail out of it. 😄 Great car.
We had a 2006 Focus with 120000 miles and was a very reliable car until the wife was Tboned by a HD work truck. Drove this car from St Louis to Iowa many times and several times from St Louis to Denver
I had a 2015 Focus with the dual clutch transmission and what a P.O.S. it was. It made me to never buy another Ford vehicle again. Finally donated it to a charity, bought a Toyota corolla.
Got a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium, around 141k miles, still going strong. Had to replace the TCM and clutch at 60k and 120k respectively. I don't drive the vehicle in normal D unless I have passengers, especially in the front as you need to keep that right hand on the gear knob as that's where the up / down is for the shifting. By keeping the transmission in S, the computer doesn't fight me as much, but it still does have its safety precautions there like shifting down if you fall below 1250 RPM.
PCV job is $380 on those focuses if you do not want to do it your self, thanks to the stupid engineers placing it behind the manifold. I remember changing the valve and hose on my older cars for $10 and it only taking 1 minute.
Yup got a 2004 mazda 3 same format under manifold 😢
I had a1996 escort 1.9 consistenly got high 40s fuel economy, for a while I had gotten 53 mpg 5 speed stick, was a fun little car, took me from ctl wi to ind
many many times
I had a 2001 Ford Focus LX automatic new & ran till 145k before it was wrecked & replaced timing belt around 105k. I got another new 2003 Focus SE automatic & no issues & sold it around 85k. I also had a 2001 ZTS 5 speed manual & got it with 55k in 2008 & timing belt snapped at 97k & I replaced motor from junk yard for $350 & sold it. All first generation Ford Focus were made in the USA not Mexico & for a cheap vehicle back then they were not to bad.
my 2000 Focus threw a rod at 155K. Put in a junkyard engine and sold it at 200+K mi. Replaced that one with a 2003 Focus wagon and drove it for many reliable miles after. When these were new, the writers compared the Focus favorably with Carollas of the same period. Built in Wayne MI. I don't understand what happened to Ford since.
The 2012 to 2018 focus with a manual is a pretty bulletproof car. Only the auto is the weak link
Great News... TOYOTA is bringing back the 94 Celica... Dream on! 😂😂😂
I had one of those 2013 Ford Focuses with the dual clutch transmission. Ford extended the warranty to 100K as part of a class action suit. I had 8 clutches put in at Ford's expense. The last time was about 98K and the Ford service manager told me then to dump the car as fast as I could....
We had GREAT service from our 2012 Focus. Loved that car!
If your car has manual transmission you must always fix anything that goes wrong with the car. It will run forever with manual transmission.
You can use a cheapo magnetic gauge to set the camber accurately. Alignment shims are also inexpensive.
Be sure to "burp" air out of the cooling system. If no air and fans cycle then if coolant is still full check flow through the heater core.
Automated manuals are just as rough as a stick shift. Many buses had those type of transmissions and were much slower than a fully automatic ALLISON.
bought new 2002 focus 5 speed and it was a lemon. Bought used 2005 focus ZX4 in 2017 automatic. with 74,000 miles and it was FANTASTIC. Only problems were the focus motor mounts that wear out and the famous focus kick pannels that rust out from underneath.
I've got a 2004 Focus SE Wagon that I bought from the junk yard. Only thing I had to do is put new tires on and change the plugs. Used it for my commute many years then passed it on to the wife. She got tired of driving it, so we bought a new car and now I'm using it again to deliver packages on the weekends! It's got 271K on the clock and I'm hoping to get to 300K!
You got a new camera..... looks really good!
I have a 2012 focus but it has a 5-speed manual. 168,000 miles trouble free so far!
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!
He is cause he’s a sigma.
Got 17 focus with 113 thousand miles no issues so far
My last car was an 07 ford focus and it went 302 thousand miles before it died.
I got a 1996 Toyota Corolla DX made in Canada in 2015 in Miami, Florida and barely got rid of it this year in 2024 because of an accident the insurance company declared it a total losss because it was "too expensive to fix compared to the value." It had 190K miles and was still running strong!
I've got a 2007 Focus with 190,000 miles. It's one of the best cars we've ever owned. A few things to look out for... the alternator is a major pain to replace. The HVAC controls have cables that run to the knobs. They break easily, but are easy to replace. The heater box gets stuck and it's hard to control, which leads to cables breaking... Window regulators go out all the time.
Sounds worse than the contemporary Cavalier of the times. A bunch of
CZcams videos of Focus motor mount failures and spark plugs breaking to pieces. Ceramic crumbling.
Fords have abysmal watet jackets in their cylinder heads. Duratec 4 and Modular V8's. Only Caddilac North Star V8 is worse.
Sounds just like the heater control cables of my 1970 C10. Get stiff eventually & break levers. Also lose square shape knobs & end using just pointy end of lever!
That's the glue on the flap inside the diverter box. The heat melts it and it gets stuck. I took out my radio drilled a hole in the box and used a screwdriver to pry the flap unstuck. Sprayed some Lithium grease in the box and it never got stuck again.
Hey Scotty Mazda heard you about their cars being made in Mexico being crap. All new Mazda 3s now made in Japan starting with 2025 models both sedans and hatchbacks!
Sweet
@@aaronm2452yeah I've wanted one of their sedans for years but won't buy a Mexican made car. They may earn my business now. 👍👍
@@robertschneider4930 my 91 miata proudly wears a door sticker that boldly states made in Japan, even while under the thumb of Ford 😆
I'm happy with my '02 Astro. (no heat or air, but it's still going pretty strong-- 206,000+ miles) and i can haul a lot of cargo.)
I was hopin' you'd get to it in 30 seconds. Have to go trim a hangnail
One day Scotty will actually kick the bucket and we'll all be reading these old comments and crying
Thanks Scotty. Model years and auto transmissions aside, I'd be okay with driving a (naturally aspirated, PRE-EcoBoost) MANUAL Ford Focus with the 2.0L I-4. I owned an '86 Tempo Sport 5spd with a 2.3L and put nearly 100k miles on it in 2 years. Performance was bland, and it was bland to look at, but it was reliable and got excellent mpg. The ECU was replaced immediately (warranty) after I bought it, and then it later needed ball joints. No biggie.
Thank you Scotty for all your information and content, God bless you and your family.
Those do a long crank every 20 or so starts. If you shut it back off it would fite right up.
Love the brand of the battery , 'Diehard'.
Scotty you are a genius the way you meticulously go through diagnostic procedures!
Don't forget about spark if you have none it will flood out because you have no fire in the hole 😂
Yep, no mention if a proper spark test was performed! I learned the hard way how a spark tester tool can save you time and aggravation. I had a '75 Ford with a 351w that had "spark" but found out later it was too weak for the engine to run on (Duraspark system's ignition coil failure). I had shot the parts cannon at it including a timing chain, distributor pick up, and other stuff😅 Thankfully the timing chain replacement wasn't a waste of time as doing that service had fixed a massive oil leak coming from the timing cover gasket.🙃
They don’t make them like they used to…cars as well.
Have a great day Scotty!
Let me guess: You are retiring? You are dying? You are dead? You are retiring and dying? You are dead and retiring from dying?
The answer is always Corrolla.

I heard that when a car overheats its a warning sign that the timing belt is going to snap.
Yeah, makes you wonder if that service is overdue, but note that only is the case on US made Siennas built before 2007 though.
G'day from Victoria Australia Ol Mate
G'day mate! Wadaya know?
I strongly disagree with throwing cheapest possible tyres on your car. Those have less grip and much less grip that better quality ones. Just getting the cheapest tyre from a "A" brand is often (always probably) already better than cheap Chinese crap.
Yeah, I agree with that as well. If the rest of the car seems solid, just get it fixed, many body shops have frame machines that can check it for issues and could potentially straighten out the unibody if that's the case. Could just simply be a worn bushing or bent suspension arm, though.
I had a 2005 Focus ST with the 2.3L engine and standard transmission (manual/stick shift). It was a fun little car to drive. Sadly, like all Fords....the frame rusted through, and I had to scrap it.
I got a 2004 Pontiac vibe for $800
Scott man died again. Aw man. I wanted to ask. My 11 Ford edge this morning, just after I filled the tank with 76 gasoline. I had a hard time starting it. It eventually did. But I then got a p1295 and p1297 at the same time. I was thinking vacuum leak. But I clean the maf and it's idling good now. I used cheap Food 4 less gasoline on my last tank. I feel like I had just barely ran out of gas right when I pulled up to 76. My car is giving me shitty gas mileage. 14mpg. But it's all stop and go though. My scanner is constantly reading 16% long term fuel trim, but normalizes past idle.
Check for a brake vacuum booster failure, unplug the vacuum booster and plug the vacuum hose and see if it runs better, especially if you're hearing any hissing sounds around it. Those years of Fords were known for that issue.
And,from watching vids from Roman and other members, their english speaking skills are so improved. They've even teaching the Americans who help them in the state Russian. Serge T in Ukraine was even teachind his language through his songs.
Very good content.
They have a system called independent rear suspension
Those are still kicking in europe even the diesel ones... 😅 diesel ones with manyal are indestructibles... ❤
I beg to differ on that transmission, company I worked for bought a fleet of those Ford Focus's and the mechanic was ALWAYS complaining how the transmissions were failing. They should have leased them. They were first generation, so maybe they fixed them by second generation (which this one in the video is, I think), but it's still Ford, don't know if I would trust it.
Always fun to see or not see the bate 🤣🤣🤣
It looks like an Australian Ford.
Stage 4? Or a broken timing belt?
05 to 11 were the best years on those. They had to get the bugs out of the early ones 00 to 04, those could be junkers too.
2000-2004 were fine with the Zetec 2.0L DOHC. The SOHC was trash. The manuals from any gen are bulletproof. 2012-2018 are great with a manual
Andddd prices are about to skyrocket.
Bumper almost came off when he was checking the tire😂
I saw that too, makes me think it was smacked in the rear and possibly all the parts to the rear bumper that are suppose to be there were not there!!😅
I won’t tell them about the flood either, but rather make an offer
Good riddance!!!

Don’t tell Scotty , 🎵 Scotty doesn’t know 🎶 🎵

Ford is kinda stupid, they should keep automatic transmission and only a few trim with dual clutch.
R.I.P Scotty. See you tomorrow.

Yeah horrible experience with two different dealers. One in Bakersfield California, the other Ford dealer in Stockton California Big Valley Ford. Horrible horrible horrible screwed me over royally. Just over the TCM. Both of them try to get away from repairing it and the one in Stockton not only didn't repair it correctly they broke the transmission. I drove in there with a transmission that worked fine but it slipped a little when I drove it up from Bakersfield to Stockton about a 4-hour drive It was fine used it for a few days and when one of my colleagues came over to work with us for about 2 months He and my other colleague followed me to the dealership took we spoke with a couple of the sales guys they told us where to park the car and everything and we did. Almost a month later they said the car was ready but I would need to tow it home. I went nuts. I drive in with a perfectly working car except that it needed a TCM And now I've got a car that barely goes into gear and reverse doesn't work. What do I do We're screwed!!
My fault for not checking the reviews. This dealer in Stockton the Ford dealer horrible horrible reviews some of them even similar to what I went through. What do I do
