I am just loving this channel, every video, like this one, is a true gem. That said, and being a long time photoshop user since version 0.7, I just want to emphasize the increments between versions today vs those in the olden days. Many users with basic PSD skills are resistant to change (because there's always more to learn) and every new version is almost new software. PTC (and a few other channels) help you to bridge that gap smoothly. This video might be about the chrome effect, but it is a short tutorial on features (incl. shortcuts, application and options), new and old. Jesus is wisely choosing such cases to demonstrate not only the effect, but also the workflow. Very, very good.

I too have only ever really seen something similar done with Curves, this is a cool method. What is the difference with using Apply Image instead of just duplicating the layer and setting the blend mode to Difference?

Hi my friend , thanks for all your usefull tutorials, i am learning each one of them and appreciate you for giving this chance to the others too. i have a question regarding desaturation.
I have several layers ( texts and logo and some sparkles created by brush ) put all of these in a group and converted the group for small filters. The purpose is to make a poster with Gold Signs and scriptions, now the Desaturation option is no off ( not working ) .
Do you have any suggestion for this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I really love your tutorials but if I may comment on one thing is that you often choose images that are very susceptible to the technique you are going to apply and that is great because it really shows the maximum you can achieve with the certain technique. But for me personally ( and maybe many others) it would be incredibly interesting to see how you would apply certain techniques to images that are not suitable at all! I use photoshop for compositing futuristic and cyberpunk inspired pieces using slices and pieces of images that are of mediocre quality is a huge part of it . Often after watching yours and many other tutorials I try to apply the techniques and fail miserably. I've been working with photoshop for many years but I still can't get many of the techniques to work. Because I am not using high res perfectly lit high-contrast images. I would love to see some tutorials (similair to the how to remove jpeg artifacts video) on simply how to get an image to a place where you can apply these various techniques. Like for example you would take a slightly blurred, poorly lit, poorly coloured flat'ish image and bring it to a level that's at least similar to the image of the runner you started to use in this tutorial. It would be such an immense help. A good example of what I am trying to ask is the cyberpunk color grading tutorial you did some time ago. I analyzed that video and tried to apply the color grading you showed there using camera raw and i couldn't even get close with any of my images because the original image I used was not nearly crispy clean as the one you used. I'm sorry for the long post , I'm a huge fan and I love what you're doing here and any feedback would be greatly appreciated ! All the best!

Many people have their own unique way of explaining how to use Photoshop and vector-based software, such as CorelDraw and Illustrator. And how to design in these applications, everything is explained well but no one tells how much resolution PPI should be kept for what size of file to print.
