    My home economics teacher (remember them?) taught this piecing method for 4-patches, back in the day. I still have the pin cushion I made (about 40 years ago!) from two of them.

    Howe, when telling people to lower their stitch length from a 2 to a 1.5 is fine, but if your normal stitch length is 1.5 is it really necessary to lower it to a 1.2? A stitch length of 2.0 to 1.5 should work for anyone.

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello Sherry! A 1.5 is fine. We try not to assume what stitch length everyone uses so when Kimberly says that it is a generalization.

    Do you recommend starching fabric before or after you cut? I worked on a quilt where I starched and my blocks did not square up. I had some blocks that shrunk almost half an inch. Not sure if my error was in starching before or after cutting. I assume that is what caused the shrinking of my fabric. Or am I using too much starch? Help :-(

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello FireflyDreams*! We recommend starching before you cut your fabric. Starching does cause fabric to shrink but it also helps Kimberly make more accurate cuts.
