10 mins in, i already hear Ludi needs some living space. Is it roman or prussian guide?
Just curious, where did you get the picture for that artistic reconstruction of a roman fort?
remember to give out the +1 mana privileges to all of the estates
facts
Don’t forget to seize Crownland too, you need absolutism in the future
I think Ludi here would want to hand out the mana privileges after his first war or two to increase his share of the crown lands.
What does that mean?
Vlad the impaler is such an inspiration. He didn't start to impale people until his mid 30s, and now it's all people remember him for. Shows you that it's never too late to follow your dreams!
He is a late bloomer lol
When Ludi is restoring Roman Empire (37:30) "Roman town, Romanian tactics."
As a romanian I could say it is historically accurate 😂
the romans were remarkably good at getting very long very straight lines in their infrastructure projects. Not easy to make an almost perfectly straight line through rough ground and forest. Once you have that first straight line it gets a lot easier to keep everything square to each other so roman-built towns often don't have many curvy roads
The romans build towns. That was the greatest difference to most other cultures. Other cultures had towns, because villages grew. The romans went somewhere and build an entire town.
Most of them were Military Camps that evolved into Towns its a Bit funny seeing all Roman built cities so magneficent effecient and Well organized then compared to rome itself a Nightmare and a Mess which tends to Happen when every successfull General wanting to have Prestige built every bigger buildings to Show how much they Care about rome how awesome His generous offering for that massive temple IS with a slightly smaller inscription If you want that ,Parties free Money and bread Vote Gaius Marius Regulus for Consul this year
@@jarlnils435The Romans also had many towns that grew organically from villages and that weren't planned. Rome itself is a good example.
@@jodofe4879 rome and every city they conquered, exept for etruscan colonies. The romans learned to plan and build colonies from the etruscans. But the romans used them as a way to conquer land. Place colonies in foreign land, give every man a lot of land to work on and he will be able to buy good arms and armor. And when the foreigners try to go against it, all of rome attacks and blame the neighbors as aggressors.
The great pyramid is built on 10 acres and it is plus or minus a quarter of an inch square all the way around! if that don’t make you cream your pants idk what will. Let’s put it this way even the best modern building we have today ain’t that square, it’s probably off an inch here a half in there but not a quarter all the way through. They had to of had some bad ass goat gut levels back then 😂
😳 my face when the Romanian Airlines pilot starts speaking schtackenwipen shmurfendoofen (he's roleplaying Japan in HOI4)
16:44 I would like to see actions that you can take while walking around. I imagine this could be similar to what I have seen in the game Tropico. As your "Presidente" avatar, the player can can walk around the island, visit a building to give a production bonus or stand on a street corner and give a speech to improve the opinion of your citizens, for example. You can also fight in the streets if there is an uprising or superpower invasion.
right now no actions sadly, like 0
another W for polish games industry
cheers mr Ludimus
Always add extra berry foragers during spring as they replenish very fast. I max out foraging for a months and you'll get around 200 berries
Not ludi advertising Romania during a roman city build 😂
I just saved these two cities in Google maps to visit next year! Good history lessons from Mr Ludi. Greetings from Serbian neighbour,🙂
This game plans to unlock in approximately less than an hour, just in time for a ludi video!
If there are mods that remodel buildings to look like other parts of the world, I think I will go crazy
I'm sure there will be be, if the game gets popular after release.
Thanks for the video Ludi. And more importantly, thanks for the historical insight, both about Romanian history and your life as well.
23:33 Super interesting insider knowledge! Thank you for sharing so that we can get the real experience.
Notes from a local on Poenari Castle and Vlad the Impaler
I can see why Bran has visitors since it's intact and restored so you can see it in full glory and explore the rooms. Poenari only has ruins of previous fortifications, but it totally deserves your visit if you like history! Besides you wouldn't go there just for the castle, Poenari is a stop on Transfagarasan, one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Romania and the world (Top Gear had a special on it calling it the greates driving road), worth it for the scenary alone. Along the way you'll pass by Vidraru which is an impressive hydro dam forming a huge lake, waterfalls running along the cliffs, the Balea glacial lake and a lot of stunning nature!
Unlike Bran, you can truly call Poenari Vlad's castle cause it previously only was an isolated observation tower before he extended the fortifications to 5 towers with 3m wide walls and added dwellings transforming it into a real castle. The story of how Vlad did his "little reovation" is 10x better than anything the Dracula marketing team at Bran can come up with: his father was betrayed by his nobleman and Vlad lived a lot of his life in exile, coming back to take Wallachian throne 3 separate times. After taking back his throne he didn't forget the nobles that betrayed his father, he gathered them and told them about that tower at Poenari and how he wants them to build him a great fortress on that mountain. Legend has it that they politley declined saying they lacked the men and resources, but what Vlad actually meant was: they will go on top of that mountain and raise the castle he wanted with their own sweat and labour and they won't come back until it's done or they die trying... funny guy this Vlad:)
On how much it stayed there... well it was only a secondary residence for him. The country's capital was at Targoviste and he later moved it to Bucharest. That's where you'd have a royal court and the seat of power because Poenari isn't next to a town, barely some villages there to this day. It's actually located where hills turn into proper mountains, on top of a rock, 400m above the steep narrow Arges river valley in a densly forrested region. Pretty remote and have fun assaulting that in 15th century...
For better context on the location: Poenari is as old as the medieval state of Wallachia and the initial tower was probably raised by the founding fathers which came from Transylvania on the other side of the mountain. Downstream on the Arges river is Curtea de Arges, the oldest recorded capital of the state, where many medieval rulers and the modern Romanian Royal family members have their graves. Legend has it that Poenari and Curtea de Arges had a communication system based on smoke signals so passing alerts and guarding the border was the main role of that early lone tower placed on an isoladed mountain. The main trade routes between this region and Transylvania/Hungary were to the West via the Olt river Valley and to the East via another main valley Bran actually guards. Passing over the mountains through the Arges valley wasn't practical for large armies or major trade because the Transfagarasan road I mentioned before was only constructed last century... before that it was wilderness, steep mountains and dense forrest full of bears, wolves and other wildlife - maybe a small path for shepards and their sheep.
After Vlad turned it into a castle, it could play a role in guarding the border region and maybe it was an usefull fallback if the fortifications at Curtea de Arges fell? But the main strategic value was as a safe location if needing to retreat North from the Ottomans as Vlad did have to do at the end of his second reign when he was forced to flee over the mountains in Transylvania.
Loving the Manor Lords gameplay!! Keep it coming!!
Ludi thanks for great videos, I enjoy all the time. One quick note for this and your first video; you can destroy a house get timber and build lumber camp with it, no need to restart all the game from beginning.
Love this game, love you playing it. My pc definitely can't run it, but I like watching you so that's not too bad!
Sir, you just get a new subscriber !
This is exactly what I expect to see on Manor Lords !
Great video Ludi. Definitely enjoying your videos 😁
At ~18m you discuss plot sizes. Wanted to share some useful info (in case you didn’t know already. If so it’s for whoever lurks in the comments)
1. Plot size only matters for vegetables. Chickens and goats are not affected.
2. You can decrease the amount of houses you want to build when you plot the land, which means you can build one massive vegetable extension plot but in a neat OCD friendly square.
Looking forward to your next videos! 🙌
Great video! Love it!
Keeping with the Roman theme I'd like to see all the Roman settlement types in a playthrough. So depending on where you start maybe a more natural-grown city in the middle and coloniae, forts or smaller "homesteads" around it. If possible you could also build a Limes wall across the map to protect against those nasty barbarians.
Had great fun watching this Might be hard to do a Vicus Let alone a civitas So I am very excited for the rest!
Amazing looking place. I will add it to my list of places to visit. We should really appreciate these things more.
Hi, thanks for the video. Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's interested in Ancient and Medieval cities as well as the passage from, say, the Late Antique villa to the Early Medieval manor, I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series, especially the cities and society playlists. They're a great background complement for a game like manor lords, for not talking about the military stuff
Ludi, what about Exeter? It is near a large river and was built on a hill. The wall is still extant and there is a large forum/cathedral in the centre. It’s a very ancient town!
I had a similar experience when I visited Neu Schwanstein with my parents many years ago. Huge queue so we were looking for an alternative. Visited Hohenschwangau which was the seat of the family before they built Neu Schwanstein. Far less people and an interesting tour. No regrets.
I hope the smell of peasents working in the morning doesn't smell like napalm. That could be bad. Hope it smells like victory.
I was two years ago at Romania and see both of this castles as well as some churches-castles. Actually I am more like mountain guy so carpathia was excellent choice for me and I really advise all of you that like nature to visit this country
Hey! Will you continue this series? I have really enjoyed this video and your knowledge! I'm looking forward to next episode with town restart! Hope to see it soon!
You dont have to restart if you have no timber anymore, you can destroy a home and get the 2 timber refunded.
Have a great weekend Ludi!
history with ludi is the best
I didn't check all the comments, so forgive me if it has been said before.
If you forget to build a logging camp at the beginning and run out of logs, simply demolish the stuff you built before and you get the resources back.
Yay, more ludi manor lords!
literally had the rich clay and iron deposit as well in my first run, got absolutely deleted by bandits and have now given up on rerolling that start lol
Today I have learned that Ludi has very strong opinions about Vlad the Impalers ACTUAL castle, and tourism in Romania
Love this run
Recreating the true historical Roman towns is a nice idea. You should go for Dioclea next time as soon as you have started this on the Balkans)
Well I've been to Corvin's Castle and that was awesome as it was my first eastern castle
I will not buy manor lord till we are allowed to created salt mines on every single conquered province.
I truly look forward to more videos on this game, it truly looks amazing.
Glad im not the only one doing a roman town
Hey Ludi, how about next time you try to recreate Municipium Aelium Napocense. It is a pretty standard castrum to squared city design.
18:30 you can also make a big square and assign less or more houses to it. You don’t have to make these weird shapes.
True, but i like different shapes too or it's boring
I have to say, if there was a tannery in the middle of my village, I'd leave. Have you got any idea what tanneries smell like? Cat's piss, in case you're wondering. In real life, tanneries would be way away from the city/village centre.
The church latin pronunciation did make me chuckle a bit.
Low key you kinda sound like former professional mixed martial artist, amateur wrestler, and current commentator for the UFC Daniel Ryan Cormier and it's awesome.
scratch that I am just high sorry. you gained a sub tho
We need more Living Space!!
Damn Ludi, if this had Multiplayer we could have a battle between our Ancient Roman cities - I myself come from Stara Zagora, the ancient Roman city of Beroe/ Augusta Traiana. The south would totally rule over the north ;)
Man im gonna have to build Roman Colchester now
i build storage before logging camp just to make sure my stuff is safe before doing anything
Hey Ludi!
I am trying out the latest patch - when the next Manor Lords video? :) Beginner guide again will be great.
You should play Kerble Space Program to show people what rocket science is.
Rome anything is always good. I wish we had a byzantine roman builder. We never gotten one.
ludi you can have houses with an expansion and a "garden attachment" it's actually 4 types of houses
Watch the whole video
@@LudietHistoria perhaps, I should 've
You've got a pilot's license? Never would've guessed
That's the fastest way to run away after stealing wallets so it makes sense.
Nice video, But I feel that the blocks are a bit too small, I'm not an expert but from pictures I scene, block seemed to be wider with gardens in the middle
playing manor lord while yapping about the roman empire, seems like my kind of channel lololol
Was hoping to see some @OneProudBavarian tactic for building janky walls around the city, it's not meant to be but it was possible for him
Wait for the community to make a sick rome mod 😍
NICE
Hi Lubi!
herro
@@LudietHistoria hau r yuo dooing mai men?
Ey Ludi! How about trying to build Caesaraugusta?
Isn't it EU4 music in the background since you realised the sound issue? :D
I feel cheated! First because I visited Bran Castle and didn't know it was a tourist trap. Secondly because Ludi did not fight off the raid! Quite enjoyed the video, I hope you make it up to me! Pa.
>"This is the most disapointing province ever"
Welcome to Dacia, legatus! 😜
Rome was in financial decline before they invaded. When the wars were over, they returned with so much gold, resources and slaves that they afforded weeks or months of festivities and celebrations. Dacia was rich in gold and salt and it has forests, fertile land with good climate and rich hunting grounds so settlement was no issue. The only issue being those pesky invaders - as a result, it wasn't a province for that many years but many romans stuck around after the retreat, they kept protecting bridges and making trade with the region
just a random Byz Boy here but if they ever get the game to the point where you could make cities (doubtful but eh) would love to see Constantinople
do vindobona next :D
One day I hope there is a hybrid Manor Lords, Total War, Crusader Kings game.
you and me both brother, THAT DAY SHALL COME
Don't bother with orchards, they're bugged and no one eats them
they said they should work in release version, guess they lied about that too then? feelsbadman
@LudietHistoria tbh I was basing that on others playthroughs who each said it, so I may be wrong...
So you wanna tell me i was scammed in romania?! I was in Bran and i thought i was in the castle of Dracula -.- ... you should include more historic places in your videos, i love those stuff and i was also in Rasnov... :D
Please tell me you plan to continue this with the release version?
is EU4 soundtrack in the background or am I going crazy?
Manor lord = Mannerlord = Bannerlord = Ludi should play bannerlord
Ludi, rebuild Aquincum!
0:16 do you still have the sources? i would love to take a look at them
if you build a house you ken add or remove houses + - on the site
This game is what Stronghold should have been all along
I am really hoping to see AI towns and forts on the map that you can trade with, align with or attack. Like a real living map
Small correction the architecture of the houses is franc and not slavic.
those level 2 houses are similar to many old houses still inhabited in rural Eastern Europe, with the difference being that they usually are a little bit bigger (traditionally 3 rooms) they never have exclusively wooden walls as some homes do in the game, but with a clay and straw mix as well, and the tiles are ceramic not wooden, but the general look of them is similar. Nowadays there are extremely few new builds in this style, but very old neighborhoods will still have a few such homes, with a caveat that in the cities they used brick, and in the mountains they would often use stone.
wait huuuhhhh??? Lubi has a pilot's license? I thought my man was a basement dwelling EU4 goblin like the rest of us 😓
That about Vlad's castle is the same that happens with the site where Jesus was baptised, in the Gospel of John it's written that it was "on the other side of the Jordan river", that means in today's country of Jordan, not Israel, where everyone goes due to advertising
W orthodox cross☦️
the Ludinum City
Do we already know if this game will have modding access?
what about a romanian town :D
The roman didn't use the great plough, (even if it already existed) so it's not so much a mistake to not take this perk.
Which street is the Cardus and which one is the Decumanus?
i saw snap strategy trying to reach 5k pops, then his games started to lag and he quittted at 2k.
Is this going to be multiplayer?
u know that u can import from your pc every flag u wanna have?
You are the last person I expected to see in the comments under that Tarkov Trailer!
homie I'm a 4k hrs kappa gamer with predator shirt. I EAT TIMMIES WHEN I PAUSE EU4.
@@LudietHistoria a man of many talents
im waiting this game to be cracked
"And if you're new to Manor Lords" well it's not out yet so....
I vote for Tongeren !
Make Rome next
My city will be constantinople
In my experience archers are totally useless. They are cheap, the easiest unit to make yet they make no dmg at all. Killing 1 unit is a success with 2 stacks in a real battle. Arrows just get stopped by shields and if meele units come into contact with archers, they either flee or get slaughtered. They would be nice if the size of levy wasnt capped.
Facts. They nerfed archers on the release version. In the version i was playing archers 1 shot 1 killed ANYTHING, it was genuinely broken, now they are not good anymore.
If you attack from the side or behind they are decent. Had 2 groups of bandits surround my 1 group of Spearman and the archers picked them off pretty well.
This gane will be free on the xbox game pass for subscribers
