I totally agree with your opinion. If I relied on my tools for my trade, then I probably would be buying name brand, but for home use Harbor Freight tools will do just fine.
+Stephen Elkins These air compressors last a long time. I certainly feel I have gotten my money's worth
like any tool you take care of it then it will last
until you need it to work!
you can care for an air compressor all you like but when the parts wear out you won't be careing much anymore oil less compressors are ment to fail after a hours of use is over. It dosn't matter how much care you take of the tool it has a built in failure agenda. Now they can be fixed but can you get the parts and do you know what to change? Would it be cheaper to just buy a new one? I think tools should last you a lifetime not ??? hours of use.
Every tool has its limits and harbor freight list there right in the owner's manual on air compressors, 90 days. Now that's faith in how long a tool will last. buy 3 or 4 of them you might as well have bought the name brand tool in the first place, at least you can find parts for it when it fails.
Harbor Freight Compound Miter miter saw that held up very well for over 15 years and was still working good when I sold it.
This is good to know, I've got about 8 years on my 10" Compound Miter Saw from HF, I've got about 2 years on my 12" Compound Miter Saw from HF. Can't complain about either one. Got the 12" a couple years ago to do a flooring job so I wouldn't have to pull my 10" out of its cabinet that I built it into. I mounted the 12" on the HF mobile tool stand. The 12" is belt driven, figured it would be much quieter than the 10" Direct drive, its the opposite. I figured since my belt drive table saw is quieter than the direct drive, the same would hold true for the miter saw, its louder LOL.
William Todd
I have one of those and it is awesome. Cut a piece of Red Oak with it the other day and the cut finish was like glass. It works great.
I totally agree if you go for the cheapest tool they have it just won't last but if you stay with the middle of the road price range you get really great deals. If it were not for Harbor Freight I would not have my business! If you see a tool for 10 dollars and there is one next to it for 30 and then 80 go for the 30 dollar one and you will see it last longer! I have the bigger 21 gallon compressor and love it! I also have the 199 dollar house painting sprayer great tool I have had some of the tools since the first store opened in Austin way back in the early 90's and they still work great, like my drill press, and pancake compressor going on more than 20 years!
+Jo Flores thanks for the comments. I am in total agreement with you
I love Harbor Freight. I've got a 3 ton floor jack and two pairs of the jack stands and they're great! I also have the cheap angle grinder and it's just right for all I use it for.
the compressor is excellent I bought it on sale w/ a 20% coupon It ran a coil nailer and a deck nailer without problem. The grinders especially the 10" I have cut 100 or so cinder blocks in half and changed the brushes once.
I think most of can agree that Harbor Freights cheaply priced use once tools have gotten many of us out of a jam more than a few times. Great Video
+Bob Vicars That's right. I don't buy my lawn equipment there, but for many basic tools for the average homeowner, there is a lot of value in that store. I have bought a few things at Harbor Freight that is not worthy the money, no matter how cheap it is
+Bob Vicars
I've always thought of Harbor Freight as the Wal-Mart of the tool world. Now don't get me wrong I've bought tools there... But cheap Chinese made, if I had to make a living I think I'd shop elsewhere.
But for a home shop ... nice place to go.
Yes that's right.. Just like I had to tile my bathroom and needed a tile saw. I'm guilty of buying a tool for that and then conveniently before 30 days is up after use I box a clean saw and take it back because how often as a home owner do I need that. It's just the way it is.
+Bob Vicars have you considered renting a tool from a rental yard? might be a good option for you.
***** You know my comment was to the poster of this video not you, and I suspect that if we were in the same room together you wouldn't say anything to me. The store policy says you may return tools anytime with in return policy period. There's no thievery to it. and that's the way it is. Stay out of other peoples conversation and you should do fine in life.
I am an ex Harbor Freight employee.....glad you found some things you could use. I would say that at least 75% of the power tools, jacks, compressors, and air tools were returned by the customers. We had two full time employees that did nothing but process defective products 8 hours per day.
+Lee Allen Thanks for the comment. I can imagine a lot of things get returned. I have been happy with many purchase though a few I would not recommend.
Exact opposite where I am, pretty low amount of returns. A good amount are 'I didnt need it' kind of things.
i have buy a lot of this tools from harbor freight and they have work just fine for over like 2years since i got them.
good prices and very good tools.
The replacement of the middle blade on my John Deere mower is easier since the plate in the middle of the mower can be lifted up out of the way. I have a tool to take off blades on many mowers and will be using it as soon as I can get a Dewalt air compressor I saw in a pawn shop, new. As for Harbor Freight tools, there is some good ones, and some not so good.
I agree.👍 I have the same tools I never have problem.
That's an interesting edit at the beginning. That lawn mower sounds like a beast.
I agree about the jack and jack stands. The Compressor is good but not great. I've owned the 21 gallon which has the same motor as the one you are using and it does not run with the weather is too cold. However the 29 gallon compressor is a beast. I have that now and I love it. It is well worth the price and is a lot more powerful than the 21 gallon. That impact wrench is also crappy, but their Earthquake series impact wrench are awesome. The new hoses are very good too. Lots of good finds at HF.
Thanks for the video! Well done! As the years go by the Chinese stuff is getting better and better. It was the same way with the Japanese stuff when I was a kid. Initially there stuff left a lot to be desired and the Chinese are on the same path. Again, thanks for the info.
The pro series ratchet is as good as my snap on ones. You break it and they swap it easily. The harbor freight jack I actually bought because my craftsman jack took a poop and broke and I needed to do some suspension work on my car. I bought the jack at harbor freight for about $78 bucks 4 years ago and am glad. Some of their stuff is good
Nice video. I started using a couple aluminum ramps to drive up on for blade changing. It made things a little quicker for me over the jack. Thanks for uploading the video.
+Florida Turf Pros I image ramps work great. In the past, I used the gate on my trailer as a ramp but it wasn't the safest method. I think your way would be much safer.
I used to do that until I got the mower lift. The mower lift is a bit slower, but you can raise the front of the mower up a lot farther with the lift than you can with the ramps, not to mention depending on your mower's deck those ramps may impede your ability to easily access the deck.
Either way works, but after getting the mower lift I find it a lot easier. I found with the ramps sometimes the stupid mower didn't have enough traction to climb them, or it would send the ramps sliding across the shop rather than climbing up on them.
great video. thanks for sharing.
u really like your mower dont you lol
I don't think I would jack up my mower using the mower deck. Harbor Freight has a nice ATV jack that you can do this with. Just saying.
the air compressor, jack I have , both great, angle grinder, jack stands both great, add the 12 inch not bevel gear miter saw, all there nail guns, and there wrenches, and etc all have been good,
Glad to hear it. I have had a few bad experiences with harbor freight tools, but overall it has been positive.
I agree .there is a tire shop in the community that I live in and that's the only kind of floor jack that they use they even stay out side most of the time . I had a lawn service bissness for 13 years . but unfortunately that was be for I started going to harbor freight.
Safety first buddy. Great vid.
Good idea to fix the air leak. Wasting air.
HF now carries a lawnmower lift. Around 99 dollars. It holds both front wheels in place, and elevates higher than your jack. Solid piece of equipment. I bought one.
+Stephen Elkins I saw that. I have never used one but I have looked into one made by mowjack as well. They look great
+Lawn Care Business 88 dollars right now at HF. Use your 20 percent coupon, and it's a steal. Sears has their version; more expensive, but not in quality. You can't go wrong with this lift. I bought one for my mother who owns a cub cadet mower. Easy to use, and very steady. I can now take off the blade to sharpen with ease.
I've had mine a couple years now, it works great, makes mower blade changes a 5 minute job with a HF 1/2" impact wrench.
people say all china made tools are crap but will then go to Home Depot and buy some name brand tool not realizing that its also made in China. Harbor freight actually has some very good stuff (along with crap, you just have to live and learn or take some one else's advise that knows whats worth buying like that 8 gal compressor..its great)
good point. Thanks for the comment
I like the angle grinder, too. But I would buy the discs from another store / brand.
Good video bro!

any thoughts between the 2hp 8gal and 2.5hp 10gal? I am leaning towards the 10gal but am a little concerned with the amp draw.
I have always owned the eight gallon. I have never really looked into the differences
I don't want to pop breakers on 15amp ciruits so 8 gal will probably be smart. I sold all my industrial tools and am starting over with DIY grade. I sold my beast of a compressor last week so now I can have a compressor and air tank in one. It is an expensive transition but It has to be done.
+hoon hooner I have the 21 gallon, with the same amp breakers as you, never had a problem. have had this compressor for 2 years. only problem is the pressure switch is starting to go bad .
some of what they sell is really excellent quality. their sockets are excellent i have used and abused them, i put their chrome sockets on a 1/2" impact gun, i beat on them with a hammer to get a fastener that got stuck in the sock out. really for the money you cant go wrong. their earthquake line impacts are excellent as well. buy their cheaper stuff and its going to be crap, but the stuff like the chrome molly impact sockets are they are great. some of their tools have lasted me many years and i still have them. i still have allot of my old classic craftsman made in the USA stuff, but when they moved production overseas i stopped buying. one of the reasons why i used to buy craftsman hand tools is because they WERE made in the USA. most of them are no longer made here, and in that case i will go to harbor freight. i would rather give my money to a company that always sold Chinese tools then a company that sold this country short. im sorry to say that i own one Chinese made craftsman tool and i got as i gift, i would not have bought it on my own. i was happy to get the gift but disgusted to see made in china on that tap and die set.
+andrew donohue Good points. My harbor freight sockets are excellent as well. Thanks for the input
Air tools - ingersoll rand
Grinders - decent make like dewalt or next level fein if you got the coin
Compressor - ingersoll rand
Jack stands - any make as long as the ratchet
Jacks - haven't a clue as don't use them often enough
+Skullmonkey456 good info...thanks
I carry a battery powered impact wrench. Can't tell you the number of times I have had blade issues and needed it to work with in the field.
+Barry Camarillo That is a good idea. I'm not sure I have seen a good battery powered impact wrench. What brand is it?
+Lawn Care Business Milwaukee Impact Driver.
Recently I bought a CHEAP-JUNK-CHINESE multimeter........true-rms, a lot of functions for electric/electronic testing/measurements, quite accurate, 22 bucks.
There are floor jacks that would do the same thing with two or three pumps.
the angle grinders worked fine but dont last long. i bought 3 or 4 and they only lasted about 6 months. i do use them a lot. so for 3x-4x the price, dewalt was a better deal. but if you only need to use it once or twice a year they are a great deal at about 10 bucks!
These items are good I own all them and several things from harbor freight. Electric cut off tool sucks and the sockets and wrenches seem sized bigger than snap on or blue point. Also have a 100 dollar welder from them and I've had 2 in 4 years and they work. Not the best but for 100 dollars well worth it
My harbor freight sawzall has been life changing.
I have tried to kill it asking it to do things it shouldn't.... even cut down a pear tree with a pruning blade... Still runs great... love mine too.
Does that mean it cut off your arm or leg? lol just kidding. I almost bought one but was too heavy for what I need it for. Went with the Rigid one-handed sawzall at HD.
I'm sorry but all I can think when watching this is "Forest Gump's son all grown up." lol
I love HF review vids, but it's important to say what the item # is because HF changes item numbers you have. HF changes up item #s when they change even one small thing on a product. It helps to know what item # you bought.
Good point. thanks for the comment
I'm not sure about the tool recommendations but your choice in football teams is pretty good. Roll Tide.
Roll Tide...I'm hoping for a big win this weekend
The Huskies look pretty darn good. I think we are in for a real fight. I think it will be close and finally settled in the 4th quarter one way or another. The Clemson Ohio State game should be a great one too. Roll Tide
Harbor freight is great for a tool that you may not use very often. I agree the middle of the road price is usually the best bang for the buck. Take the time to read the reviews and then decide whether that item will work for you or not.
+Ratdog 305 I agree. I am a big believer in the reviews. Typically, they will let you know if it is worth buying or not
The reviews sometimes are not all that great either. For example some of the reviews of the HF Worm Drive Saw say its heavy...duh dumb ass its a worm drive saw, they're all heavy compared to the cheap $30 sidewinder saws. So many reviews just make you shake your head, like who the hell let that person in the garage with a tool in the first place.
You are absolutely right William. I write a lot of stuff for Home Depot and some of the questions I get makes me wonder if these people should even be operating equipment!
Like that hat!
It's Bobby booshay in real life
I bought a 15$ angle grinder once out of curiosity, it lasted 15 minutes and was on fire. I have De walts the same size that been in my welding business 5 years and still work fine. Do not buy anything chicago electric as it is pure junk from hf.
+mountaintruth1 some are some aren't actually. I've heard their cheapest grinders are pure garbage. the next tier up however (red motor housing) i personally own and have used moderately for 2 1/2 years now with no signs of wear. I've cut and ground quite a bit of 3/16" steel for custom motor and transmission mounts and tinkering on the bike. i think with harbor freight you just need to avoid the cheapest version of anything they make.
the "drill master" tools are junk, the "chicago electric" branded tools are decent, ive had the cheap grinders catch fire also
I've had the 4.5 in. Drill Mister angle grinder for 3+ years now and all I use it for is to cut concrete block. works fine. Got it for 12.99.
Don't know if I would put jack stands or the jack on that list. Those who got bad ones might not be around now to complain about them.
+sfaoldguy The stands he got are the heavy duty ones, they are great stands.
Only thing I disagree with is the grinder. Either you lucked out and got a good one or Ive been unlucky and got 2 bad ones. LOL
But yes HF does have its place. nice vid
+2LateIWon My grinder has been working great for a few years. I imagine there are some good ones and bad ones in the lot
I've had a 4" HF angle grinder for about 8 years, maybe longer can't remember for sure what year I got it, but its been used and abused and keeps on going. If it died tomorrow it wouldn't be very upsetting, its served its purpose many times over, and back then I think I got it for $10.
I like the car jacks from harbor freight
+Danis Benitez yes, mine has been great
I think that floor jack might need some oil?
+Nerf Dog probably right. I have some. I just need to add it
when you change the blades just get a car ramp make sure its one that are tall enough. the metals ones at H.F should work, but the plastic ones wont. you only need 1 of them. drive lawn mower up then take the nuts off the spindles on top.
I car ramp would work. Thanks for the suggestion
your welcome that's how we do it at my work
Harbor freight is awsome
I didn't know you could drop the blades from the top of the deck? Can you do this on all makes and models of comercial zero turns? This was my first year of owning a zero and I paid the local John deere dealer to sharpen mine. I would like to start doing it myself to save some money. Thanks!
+BigRandyR I can drop the blades from the top on a Scag. I am not sure about other models.
I think Scag is the only one as far as I know. Its pretty dang nice too. My uncle's Scag is 26 years old and still cutting grass. Mowed a 2 acre field of 3' tall weeds with it last summer, didn't leave anything standing behind it...best mower out there considering it got abused for 20 of those years on a 3 acre property that my uncle used to have that was nothing but hills, blackberry vines, saplings, etc.
its true some tools are ok at harbor frieght,
I'm tickled to see the HF Drill Master brand getting praised. I've found that one brand to be extremely weak, more in line with a child's toy. The Drill Master (Dremel wanna be) and the angle grinder I found to be extremely under powered. I started sanding plastic with the dremel wanna be and bogged it down without applying much pressure. I've had great success with most of the Pittsburg brand of tools they carry.
+JackOfAllTrades Thanks for your input. I use the drill master angle grinder for sharpening lawn mower blades. It has worked well for me. I imagine other brands are more powerful
Plot twist the lawn mower came from Harbor freight. Lol jk.
40 pumps on the jack.
Probably low on oil. They always come with low oil, need to add oil and bleed.
I have all of these items. I have had absolutely no issues. If you are a weekend warrior, this is your place... To top it off, your wife won't kill you because it's fairly cheap.
It's hard to beat the price for sure
hello
roll tide!
+rob roberts Roll tide
Anyone reading this: Please chock the tires on anything that is up on a jack.
Roll Tide Roll
Roll Tide. Hoping for another good season
some people just got more money than sense
Roll Tide!!
everything iv'e bought from harbor freight has been just as good as sears tools
And you often times can get a better warranty with the HF stuff than you can from Sears. Sears has gone downhill the past decade, I'm surprised their doors are still open, horrible quality tools and lawn & garden equipment, terrible customer service.
i totally agree they screwed me on three garage cabinets damaged on day of delivery they were damaged bent weent round and round with sears they the biggest f up
Does all this guy do is change blades on lawn mowers😂
SVT Honda for real 😂😂😂
you jack up a car with that jack and it'll settle down as soon as you quit pumping.
+bob maki I used it to lift my F250 and it worked fine. I typically use it for lawn mowers thought so it will easily handle those
+bob maki I have a steel 3 ton low profile jack from HF. Works like a dream.
+bob maki probably need to bleed the jack or its defective
Roll Tide
Roll TIde. Looks like a great year so far for Alabama
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!
What we save in buying Chinese-manufactured Harbor Freight tools, we end up paying in unemployment benefits to the US workers from domestic factories that have shut down...
+Porsche924Tim hey dipshit... next time you are in the store look at brand name craftsman, kobalt, dewalt, or milwaukee tools... look at where they are made... all of them are made in china now about 5 years or so ago they all moved over seas (kobalt is taiwan).... the only 2 companies im aware of that still make tools in the US are SNAP-ON and MAC tools... IDK about you but i dont really think its affordable unless you're a professional mechanic to buy SNAP-ON stuff considering a 3/8 ratchet with NO SOCKETS is like $80 to $90 and a set with like 12 sockets and the 3/8 ratchet is like $190... they are good quality but thats kinda crazy if they wanted to make the whole set $80 id probably buy it...
+wormer66 Off the top of my head, there are other companies that manufacture in the USA… Channelock, Estwing, Elkland, Bondhus, CCI, Buck Knives, Cox, Crick, Maglite, Dullage, Diamondvantage, Purdy, Empire, Flange Wizard, Ideal, Justrite, Kraft, Lenox, Malco, Marshaltown, MTM, Occidental leather, Rolair, Sait, SK, Treds, Vaughn, Wright, Klein, American Carbide, Atlas, Eagle America, Kodiak, Lakeshore Carbide, Niagara Cutter, Red Line, Severance Tool, SGS, Viking, Chapman… and some Stanley Tools are still made in the USA - but you will have to bring a second-grader to the store to read the packages to you…
+invertedlow That is why you will need someone to read the labels to you. I never said that they made ALL of their tools in the USA, but you said "... all of them are made in china now". So you are completely wrong... and China is supposed to have a capital "C". Notice how I made my point with facts, and not lowering myself to name-calling.
+invertedlow This conversation has sunk to a new low... I have more class than to continue... I'm done
the tools i buy from tool trucks are almost all foriegn made, sears is made in ztaiwan these days
Roll Tide another bama boy on youtube
+Kodie Payne I hope they keep rolling. I expect them to give Auburn a good beat down this year.
Lawn Care Business I just don't look forward to traffic to auburn this week
