Amazing performance to an audience that didn't understand anything of this epic song.
As I have always said, the last movement of Suppers Ready is the best piece of music one can hear or hope for.
Never been ashamed to admit that even after hundreds upon of times hearing As Sure as Eggs is Eggs, I still tear up and get chills.This was awesome.

Most of Genesis compositions were collaborative efforts. Tony says so himself. Everyone brought something to the table (no pun intended), together they decided if it added anything. It is amazing that these guys could work this way and turn out such amazing music. I think Peter Gabriel's insistence on doing all the lyrics for 'The Lamb' brought things to a head. That and his wanting to explore other opportunities ended his participation, sadly.
@@rk41gator glad Gabriel did all the lyrics, really sets that album apart from anything else. My favourite album of all time, and a good high note for PG to end on with Genesis
@@darudesandstrom1067 Totally agree. I think it was a high point for Genesis too, musically. I am not a prog snob. They had great music all the way through, including much of their last album 'Calling All Stations'. Gabriel fans may think it all ended when he left, but I strongly disagree. PG made great music afterwards of course. What gifts they gave us.
This only scratches the surface on how much Tony Banks is a musical genius ...

I used to listen to this at night in the dark with headphones in 1978 in my bedroom. I wish that momment could of lasted forever. It was mesmerising for a young lad. It was a double live album with a black cover as I remember. The sounds and harmonies were beautiful as here.
To stumble across this on a dreary December night... thank you, thank you, thank you.

The ones in the audience who recognize Apocalypse in 9/8 are instantly recognizable.

Hearing this great music in any format is always welcome. Great arrangement and superbly played by this brilliant duo.
These guys are a TESTAMENT to how great and TIMELESS the music of Genesis truly is. If these songs are not the modern equivalent to BEETHOVEN or BRAHMS, then I don't know what is. Show me the Steinway HOME.
Absolutely amazing, I grew up listening to Genesis, and now I'm happy to see that my son's also discovered the greatness in their music.
I feel bad for the many in the audience that obviously just don't get it.

This beautiful piano arrangement brings out new ways to hear this piece- I like how they went with their interpretation of what extra ghost harmonies & tempo changes they imagine from the original!..
I would give almost anything to see this live. I'm truly at a loss for words, so I will just thank you for sharing this.
Just watched in 2019 - two beautiful pieces played with gusto, sadly only two in the audience appeared to have a clue what they were experiencing, maybe the last two minutes when some more quite liked the beat. Excellent
