    A big thank you, I know it's 5 years since you have posted. Just completed the job for $60.00 (part) and 15 minutes. Ford wanted $400.00.

    This is a very common issue on fords. Should be a recall.

    Good video sir, the wipers on our Ford Edge run as soon as the key is in the on position, no matter the setting on the switch. After watching this video, I feel confident that I can do the job. FYI to anyone that needs to replace this part, Amazon has OEM Motorcraft available for 35.00 Part # SW 7688 Note that this switch does NOT work with rain sensing wipers

    Just finished following your video step by step. Thank you so much for posting it. I had no problems resolving the same issue with my 2013 Edge. Saved me from all the frustration my wife was giving me over the issue.

    I just replaced the switch on my 2013 Edge today, thanks to your video. 👍🏻 This must be a common problem because Auto Zone had the part in stock! I had so buy a new socket set because the one I had did not have a 9/32 driver which I needed for the steering column cover but aside from that it was a breeze. Thanks for the instructive video!

    Just by the quantity of views of this video we can see how poor the Ford quality is on its components. I just put on $2k on repairs due to other issues on this Ford edge 😭. Thanks for sharing this video, really helpful,

    Thank you for posting this video! The panels gave me a little more trouble on my ‘14 Edge (I was worried I would accidentally break a closure) but once I got those and the stalk off it was easy-peasy 👍🏼

    Great video and was as easy as you made it look - thanks. Saved me who knows how much money and time taking it to the dealer or repair shop

  • @MisterEAlaska
    @MisterEAlaska Před 6 lety +6

    Same issue here. Appreciate the video. I just ordered one from the local dealer (only place that stocks it locally) for $39.00. Walmart has it for $25. Part # SW-7688. There are 3 different types. Delay, no delay and rain sensing. Know before you order. 2013 Ford Edge
    I just completed the switch. Notes I made that differ from the video:
    The 2 plastic pieces are snapped together really well!! You don’t need to do anything to the bottom plastic kickplate. It wouldn’t move for me anyway. Also my bottom plastic piece wouldn’t come out so I just opened them like an alligators mouth. No problems there.
    Tools required. Torx T10 Star bit, 1/4” crescent with 9/32 socket and 3” extension. I recommend you pull fuse #4 from under the hood to remove power.

      I have a 2013 Edge and this is happening to me too. Is the part number a FORD part? I want to stick with Ford parts. Thanks in advance.

    • @MisterEAlaska
      @MisterEAlaska Před 6 lety

      It's a not exactly a Ford part number because Ford doesn't make the switch. The part number SW-7688 is what the Ford dealer sold me and it works just fine.

    I had to get the rain sensing ones, so more expensive, but the hardest part was figuring out the tools to use.
    9/32, a socket extension, and the 5/64 allen wrench for the screws.

    I thought my car was the only one with this issue
    my car has a same problem 2013 Ford Explorer and finally I'm replacing the wiper switch this definitely should be a recall from Ford not out of my pocket

    • @classrockin
      @classrockin Před 4 lety +2

      Agreed, seems to be a very common problem with this model of Ford, should have flagged a recall

  • @cindyawes
    @cindyawes Před 6 lety +7

    I got it done. On my 2011 Edge I needed a 7mm socket wrench for the steering column, a 10 mm for the lower piece and a 5/32 Allen wrench for the actual wiper switch. Once I figured that out it was pretty easy.

    Just finished mine. Thanks for this. I would just mention you need to use a pretty small allen wrench to get the 2 screws off of the old wiper handle. Also prying off the plastic panel is a little tricky. I just finally took a breath and pulled it off with some force. It didn't come off easy.

    I ordered the arm and have it. I'm just struggling with the tools. I've been to 3 places that want $150 to replace - thats crazy. I showed the video to the auto parts store and they couldn't figure out the tools. Can someone please kindly tell me very specifically the exact tools i need to purchase. The men in those places are clueless. I have a 2013 explorer. Tia

    Repair shop told me that this is a common problem with Fords, eventually the wipers will just stay on always causing people to wonder if you are crazy to have your wipers on during a sunny day. I found that this happens after you've had your wipers on ,turn them off then restart your car . They will shut off by turning the wipers on and off a couple of times. But this video is obviously the answer to the problem. Thanks.

    • @Darrylwcor
      @Darrylwcor Před 5 lety

      My wipers could be turned off initially by turning them on and off, but they eventually stayed on intermittently and there was nothing that I could do to stop them. Eventually led to switch replacement. Thanks for the post!
