The summer transfer window has just opened and it's set to be a big one as the biggest clubs look to add the best players to their squads. As bids come in and are rejected, it can certainly unsettle players who want to advance their careers and find themselves at odds with managers who are unwilling to relinquish their top talent to rival teams.
However in the age of player power, if a footballer decides they want a move then there are ways that they can try to force their club into sanctioning one.
A classic technique of recent decades has been for the player to down tools and essentially go on strike, refusing to train or even play for the team in some cases.
