Yes, Erika and I had fun skating together that summer. She was my skate dance teacher and I had 10 hours of private lessons with her and a stereo and that routine was the result. This video was to accompany my notes on all the steps so I wouldn't forget them when I came back and started teaching them to my students. Now they form the syllabus for my dance classes. I am so glad so many people like watching it too. Share the love! Share the moves.

I'm so happy you like this video, there are allot of steps in it and remembering such a long combination was the hardest part (you can see we both forget at the same time somewhere in the sequence). Hope it helps you dance more on your skates!

This video was taken after I have had 10 private lessons in Skate Dance from dance expert Erika Cordeiro. She had taught me so many steps and I had them written down but I didn't want to confuse them so I wanted to video the whole list. This video was so that I wouldn't forget the steps. We are between us remembering what we can and calling it out. Once we do both forget but after a small pause we remember and continue. One move usually reminds you of the next one if you have practiced.
What a pleasure to watch. Ladies made it look almost effortless. Poetry of movement 😘

Gulya, I'm so happy our skate dancing is encouraging you. Seeing yourself doing the moves is the best way to progress (and of course getting those wheels on). I was just watching this video closely for the first time in years as I am about to give 3 hours of SKateDance classes in Madrid next week and I needed some new moves to teach! There's a lot going on in this video and I can't believe we remembered most of it twice through! It's useful to me now as I plan my classes. More dance vids coming.

I remember I used to skate everyday when I was a kid. Now a college grad with an 8-5 job I am looking for a workout where I can have fun losing weight and getting back in shape like I was as a child. I think I'm gonna invest in some Quad/4-wheeler roller skates rather the in-line skates. I'm looking forward to re-amping my fitness with skating!

Wow, that's a great challenge! I'm sorry that slow motion isnt availbale. I'm not great with technology at the best of times. I will find out if this is something that is needed to be incorportaed at the beginning of filming? Do you know? I'll look into it. Each step is done once or twice in the sequence so you do need to go over small chuncks at a time. I am scripting right now a new app all about skate dance for beginners and intermediates which will hopefully be ready in September.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I'm glad you gave me that advice. I've just purchased some inline skates online... I don't know if you've heard of 5th element. They aren't the top of line, but they've been reviewed as stylish and comfortable, fitted big wheels and of quality. I don't want no ugly skates! lol

We were having fun! Ipanema beach on a Sunday when they clsoe to traffic and 4 lanes of beachside highway gives was to walkers, cyclists, families and skaters. It's one of my favourite places to skate in the whole world. Rio de Janeiro. I miss it so much.

I am wearing the red skates which are Roces SP100s from about 5 years ago A very good skate but a bit heavy now that I wear Powerslide Hardcore Evos which are much lighter.
Yes, that week I did fall and was not wearing my knee pads (it was 40 degrees in Rio de Janeiro that summer and knee pads were soooo hot (but I usually do wear them). I didn't see a crack in the ground as I was looking at the sea! It happens to us all!
Thank you for the great feedback. Erika and I loved doing this video. I don't think I could remember the sequence now though! Unless I keep practising it, it disappears from my brain, but at least I have a record!

I would LOVE to come to Singapore and do some workshops for dance skating one day. Last year I was supposed to go for a conference but it didn't happen. I was so disappointed. I'll let you know when I have plans to go to Asia. I'm hoping in around 1 years time, end of 2014. Feels far away but it will be here soon. Keep practising till then!

This is exactly what I needed to see! I'm interested in jam skating on inlines and it's hard to find content, just curious if following along to your quad skate tutorials will be the same using inline skates.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Dancing on inlines is harder than on quads, especially with 3-wheeled skates, but obviously it's not impossible. In general any tutorial by Asha can be done with inlines or quads, adjustments in the specific technique may be required sometimes. Asha has jam skating tutorials made on inlines! Please check the playlists in this channel and you'll find them. You can start with those. They are called Small Space Skatefresh Dance Challenge. She made them during the first year of the pandemic when she was isolated in Brazil.
A friend of mine are learning this dance routine by watching the youtube video. Slow motion video would be very helpful! :o)

Randy Bryant This video was my 'Homework'. I had learned SkateDance from Erica and this was a sequence with all the new steps Id learned (so I wouldn't forget them). I never imagined so mnay people would enjoy it but just shows that SkateDance is alive and kicking and people love it. Fun to do. Fun to watch and fun to learn. Glad you like it.
