Right before Harry is outed as a parseltongue and bullied throughout throughout the school only to be lauded after he saves Ginny, then third year when he faints at dementors and gets bullied again but wins Quidditch and is a big deal again. Then the rollarcoaster of public opinion that haunts Harry through 4th/5th/6th year. IDK Lockhart had a very good point there.

I think he just locks harry in to his room to prevent him doing anything else, although, that in itself doesn't make sense, because if Harry was as dangerously magical as Vernon thinks he is, a locked door would hardly be an issue. LOL

    • @Bro-cx2jc

Being locked in his room isn't a life threatening situation he could be allowed to use magic to get out of.

The thing is though, Salazar Slytherin wanted to be more selective of students because after all the Wizards and witches killed by muggles, he was scared that muggleborn students would act as spies for the muggles, so therefore only wanted Pureblood students to avoid this. Also, in the event of the school being attacked by muggles, he wanted to leave a guardian to defend it that would only respond to his heir. Hence, the basilisk. Unfortunately, his heir turned out to be a psychopath racist incapable of love but the reasons for the chamber and Salazar's anti Muggle attitude is all from a place of fear rather than hate.

The acting got better, the visual effects got a lot better, Harry, Ron and Hermione's chemistry increased, and there were darker moments too than in the 1st. I also think this film still didn't do too bad with Ron, it's movie 3 where they really start dumbing down his character. I also like that most of this movie is just Harry and Ron, it makes it feel like a buddy movie. BTW there is NOTHING wrong with or nonsensical about the fact that the chamber had to be opened thru Parseltongue, it's not "Oh ANYONE can open it whenever", they just have to know the language at hand. Yeah, many times in this series the plot relies on Harry being this SUPER skilled and powerful wizard, but he's kind of total shit at magic.
He hardly knows ANY spells, how would he know HOW to petrify a student. Hermione has petrified more people. And everyone KNOWS that because the one she petrified can just TELL everyone "yeah Hermione petrified me when I tried to stop them breaking the rules again and getting us in trouble."
That event is literally the reason they won that year!

The Chamber of Secrets was part of the castle because Slytherin made it so. After he left, its location was passed down from generations of his heirs who knew how to open it. Eventually, a bathroom was built there and the location of it was lost until somone rediscovered it and closed it up. It stayed closed until young Tom Riddle went in and found it again after searching for his mom's side of the family.

As a little addition, school-age kids do sometimes develop crushes for some of their teachers. It's not that uncommon. The weird thing is if the older people act on it instead of gently dismissing it, which is the only acceptable thing for them to do in that situation.
