I don't even see why this would be controversial, honestly. A normal nuzlocke gives you tens of encounters. If you've already cut that down by another restriction, keeping the route rule is needless.

People like to talk about how cool pokemon would be if they were real, but ignore the fact that without the cutesey anime aesthetics, real life variants of most pokemon would be some of the most nightmare inducing monsters to ever walk the Earth. ESPECIALLY the bug types...imagine a real life Vespiquen as a giant bee where its offspring are constantly crawling in and out of its massive hive abdomen. Or Scyther as a 6 ft tall praying mantis who actively hunts (so none of that sitting and waiting stuff) with giant machete blades chopping apart every living thing to devour as per the dietary behavior of actual mantids.
I love this type of nuzlocke because it just highlights one of the original charms of a nuzlocke which was to use pokemon you haven't really used and be amazed by how good/bad they happen to be.
I cannot wait to read Daddy Stone's letter to Steven everytime Flygon does an emerald challenge. The best running gag I've seen on CZcams.

Lol when I was a kid I used Mawile, Sableye and Spinda on my main story team all the way to the Eite Four. I never realized they were bad, I just loved their design.
That's one of the best things about Pokémon, you can use whatever you want and still beat the game

@@unkindled6410 I mean being able to over level isn’t a massive issue on paper, the bigger problem is how you do so accidentally, especially with how much more exp is in recent games. In Scarlet/Violet specifically the bigger problem is the lack of level scaling in a game that desperately needed it. Also the removal of set mode feels like a massive ? from them, it’s not like adding it was difficult.

@@StarSpark3071 Serene grace and super luck are abilities that boost the user’s chances of getting the secondary effect of their attack and getting a crit respectively. The fact the Camerupt got the burn and crit so much it should’ve only been possible with those abilities yet that Camerupt had the luck of Arceus and kept landing the odds that should’ve only happened rarely

The continuity with these runs are fantastic, especially with the Emerald Rock Nuzlocke follow up.
Diddly’s death was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve seen in years. Rest in pieces diddly, you will be missed and your sacrifice is appreciated.
Don’t forget Matti, nuclockes are made up. If you want to change some rules for the sake of content, do it! I think as long as the rules are consistent within the video, it’s completely fine and in cases like this video, it made it a lot more fun. The hardest runs normally mean you have to play in the most boring ways and it’s always fun to see a wider variety of Pokémon. Have been loving the content for so long and is a real highlight when I see you post ❤
I took a look through the Emerald Source code to look at the AI.
The information regarding Rock Tomb being classified as a Slowing Move and taking into account whether your pokemon is slower or not is also mostly correct. It just lowers the chance associated with the AI choosing to use the move. However, your pokemon being quad weak to the move raises the chance associated with the Nosepass going for Rock Tomb.

So, seeing how far Nada went in this run was a very welcome surprise! The strategies you pulled off with him and all the other little trash gremlins were SERIOUSLY impressive.

The Emerald AI has roughly a 70% chance to slightly prioritize quad effective moves. This leads to Nosepass using Rock Tomb on Beautifly despite already being faster and not seeing the kill. This also applies to status moves, i.e. thunder wave on gyarados.
I can't believe it! A few months ago you inspired me to do hardcore nuzlockes and to start a youtube channel like yours. Then, like just 2 weeks ago, I came up with this exact same idea where I tried to complete platinum with pkmn with total base stats of 470 or less (not as hardcore as what you did, but still 😂). I'm glad to see that I think in a similar way to you lol.

There was absolutely no reason for Spinda to have Facade over Double Edge, but if she did then that final battle would've been absolutely cinematic.
In my last Emerald Nuzlocke I had a Spinda as psychic move user after my Grumpig died and damn Fuzzy was like the best Spinda I ever had.
With a combo from Teeter Dance, Dizzy Punch, Strength and Psybeam he went with me in the League. I also used Belossom first time and this little dude danced in the Sunshine like no one ever and defeated two whole Top 4 teams alone.

To get around the Nuzlocke rule of only 1 mon per route, you could've bread Illumise with Dustox to get a Volbeat egg
This video has been incredibly nostalgic for me thus far, as I did an itemless playthrough where I had to use the same mons in both Emerald and Omega Ruby. My team for Roxanne was Dustox and Skitty, so you can imagine the flashbacks I’m getting during that segment

You always show how to properly narrate a story through your nuzlockes but this time, in the very last fight, I'm pretty confident you surpassed yourself. The moment you described all the reasons why milotic was almost impossible to beat and all the options you had, including the hypnosis option and its interaction with milotic's marvel scale, I really felt that. It was like being alone vs Wallace, two 'mons and a half alive, and no idea how to beat the last guy. That was honestly really well narrated, good job there buddy
Imagine a Super Serene Grace run where the foe's secondary effects always happen like Maxie's Camerupt
A bunch of the mons in this run are legit some of my favorites. Volbeat, Dustox, Luvdisc and Corsola can be really good if you use them right.
ngl all of nulls teammates passing brought a tear to my eye.......that brave spinda she made sure her friends sacrifice wasn't in vain.

Sableye was a big help in my emerald trashlocke. Three immunities, no weaknesses, plus fake out and detect make it a phenomenal scouting and pivot mon.

Only allowing yourself pokemon with 400 from their final evolution is an incredible effort. In impossible challenges like this feel free to adjust level caps to help that first hurdle be just a tiny bit easier.
Love to see corsola really pull it together, I really have a soft spot for Pokémon with high defenses but that just kinda suck, so it's really a favorite of mine.
What and awesome nuzlocke challenge, it was so close to lost so many times because those pokemon really are weak. But it was very thrilling because of that.
And great thing that Daddy Stone found love again, and with a woman this time! Good for him, I almost thought the nosepass in the run would contribute something to the Nosey storyline.
I love the less strict encounter rules that give you more variety! When you come up with cool new strategies, it's so much more entertaining. By the way, I'd love to see you do a run with your "top 10 favorite designs in a generation" as your only encounters! No concern for stats, just the Pokémon themselves. Up to you if you let them evolve or not.

I’ve never been so emotionally invested into the story of a Pokémon team. Truly legends
When I first saw the title, I thought the Early Game would look pretty similar to the Ruby Nuzlocke I did using only the Pokémon from the C and F tiers of your RSE Nuzlocke Viabillity tier list, but starting from essentially after Wattson, the challenge really took a different turn from it, and seeing so many of these weak Pokémon be used a bit more than in my Ruby run was really cool to see. That finale was honestly so hype! My Spinda did pull some great tricks (Kill the leads of Norman and Winona, and finish Wallace's Milotic after it killed my Wigglytuff), but your did so much more, I loved this!
I love the small touch of all the Pokemon being named after synonyms of "nothing".

I think you are right about the quad super effective. I can't remember the details, but the AI loves to use quad super effective moves even when they don't make much sense. (Such as thunder wave against Gyrados. I mean sure you can use thunder wave there, but it's not better against a Gyrados than against a Breloom.)
