It’s an interesting concept, especially considering the opposite is true in reality. Most people are liars at least to some degree, even if means sugarcoating and denying harsh truths to “spare people feelings” or to just get along with mainstream society. But Ricky Gervais (and a lot of other comedians) are good at cutting through bullshit and dropping brutal truth bombs. It’s funny but sad at the same time because most people are too afraid to do this (myself included). You almost have to be a comedian to get away with this, because if you tell brutal truths in an straight up serious and angry way, people will label you as either a hysterical, negative bitch (if you are a woman) or a dangerous agitator.

Ok, you told me where your mind is on an issue, and you are entitled to your opinion. But don’t tell me that my mind has to come along and match, your thought process or your going to act like the school bully. Just like they are entitled to their own opinion, so is everyone else. And the beauty of it is no one is required to like anyone else’s opinion. But somehow they managed not to get that memo, and many of them ignored the memo.
