  • Got a 2024 iPad Pro 11 inch and trying to decide if the crazy expensive Apple Magic Keyboard is a good choice for you? You might want to consider the Rebound 360 from ESR. It has almost all the same functionality at about one third the price, and it even does a few things that Apple’s Magic Keyboard can’t. Check out my video for a head to head comparison between these two excellent keyboard cases for iPad Pro 2024 (M4).

    12:03 Pricing and where to buy
    The Apple Magic Keyboard is available in both black and white versions and it is priced at $299 for the 11 inch iPad Pro 2024 edition. The ESR Rebound 360 Magnetic Keyboard Case is priced at $119 on ESR’s website and $109.99 on Amazon and it currently comes only in black, but a white version may be introduced later if ESR’s past offerings are any indication. Many thanks to the kind folks at ESR for sending me out this sample to review. (I purchased the Magic Keyboard myself).

      Thank you! So happy you found the review to be helpful! I think it's a great alternative to Apple's Magic Keyboard, and as you mention, the addition of an inner case for your iPad and the ability to put your iPad Pro in portrait mode are features that are simply unavailable with Apple's Magic Keyboard. Enjoy your weekend!

    Thank you for your video regarding the keyboard for the iPad. I appreciate your prompt response and assistance.
    I wanted to share my thoughts on the keyboard. While it is quite nice in many respects, I have encountered a few issues that I believe are worth mentioning:
    1. **Weight**: When the iPad is attached to the keyboard, the combined weight is significantly heavy, making it less portable and convenient than I had hoped.
    2. **Magnet Functionality**: The magnet does not seem to work effectively without a cover, which limits its usability and functionality.
    3. **Viewing Angle**: The viewing angle could benefit from more flexibility. It would be helpful if it allowed for greater adjustment to achieve a more comfortable viewing experience.
    4.**Pencil Magnet**: The magnet for the pencil is quite weak. When the pencil is attached to the iPad and the keyboard is opened, the pencil often falls off, which is very inconvenient.
    Also I feel the touchpad slow how I fixated

  • @ymaizosz
    @ymaizosz Před 26 dny +6

    The benefit of having another case protecting the iPad is when you want to detach it from the keyboard and start drawing with the apple pencil. It is super useful and effortless. My current iPad pro with the magic keyboard is such a pain whenever I want to start drawing as there is no case protecting it when detached from the keyboard. The camera bump makes the iPad uneven on table and would scratch the camera.

    Great content and review you always go above and beyond. Yes the bigger ESR pad has a back row function key line. It’s a nice case but the Apple one is eye catching.Totally agree with you on the material for both cases , it’s a pity Apple didn’t do the same with the outside give it an update, instead of that silicone feel . Thanks again for a great review enjoy your weekend 😎

    • @TheTechReviewer

      Thanks, Mary!! The Rebound 360 case is a better choice than the Apple Magic Keyboard for a lot of people…it’s a solid case with lots of functionality. But I think the Apple Magic Keyboard is absolutely worth it if you want the ultimate iPad Pro keyboard case experience. And if Apple had updated that exterior material it would have been even better…maybe they are waiting to come out with the ‘Magic Keyboard Pro’🤣

    Great review. I see why ESR had to use a steeper angle. Any lower and the keyboard would tip over while in elevated mode.
    Just FYI, Pitaka makes a slim case for the iPad which can be used with the Apple Magic Keyboard so that would solve the issue of the edges being exposed because it has the pin connectors integrated. There’s at least 2 others but I am not sure if they are available yet.

    I have one question, does that ESR one works with iPad Pro 2022 model 11 inch?

  • @pleswalker

    ESR > Apple. ESR doesn’t wobble when you touch it either. Apples keyboard has a ridiculous amount of wobble when you touch it.

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Před 25 dny +2

      Hi @pleswalker! I agree that the ESR Rebound 360 feels very stable, but I'm not noticing a wobble with the Apple Magic Keyboard. Do you mean when you are typing?

    • @pleswalker
      @pleswalker Před 25 dny +1

      @@TheTechReviewer The Apple Keyboard wobbles when you touch the screen. I know Apple wants us to think it’s a laptop, but at that price point a tablet shouldn’t wobble when you touch the tablet. The last Magic Keyboard was much more stable. If you compare the hinge from the last model to the new model, you will see the reason why it wobbles so badly. It was a deal breaker for me and I returned the Magic Keyboard. I went with the ESR keyboard and have been extremely happy with it.

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Před 25 dny

      OK, I get it. I don't tend to touch the screen much when I am using the keyboard, so I didn't notice it before. And for me, I really only notice a slight wobble when the iPad Pro is in a more reclined position. But I can see how that would be a deal breaker for you if you frequently touch the screen when using the Magic Keyboard. Glad you found a superior option for you with the ESR Rebound 360!

    • @enoch_likeit
      @enoch_likeit Před 24 dny

      What about the track pad? Does ESR work for multi touch well as apple?

    • @pleswalker
      @pleswalker Před 24 dny

      @@enoch_likeit the track pad is definitely smaller on the Rebound. This wasn’t important to me because I use a mouse. Apples trackpad is nicer but not worth the higher price tag in my opinion.
      I would check out the ESR Ascend keyboard if the trackpad is important to you. The trackpad is larger on that version but has less features than the Rebound.

    Great review! This is the first review I’ve found for the M4 11” iPad Pro! I have been eyeing up this case as I look to replace my 10.5” iPad Pro. I just had a few questions. Could you tell me the weight of the ESR? Do you have to manually connect it every time you use it? Or does it remember and connect to it when you turn on the keyboard? I know the glass trackpad on the Magic Keyboard is better, but how would you describe the accuracy of the ESR trackpad? Thanks you!!

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Před 26 dny

      Hi Dominic! The Rebound 360 is a good product. Pairing via Bluetooth is easy and in my experience, only needs to be done once. The keyboard continues to remember your iPad Pro. The trackpad is nice and responsive and the keyboard works very well. As far as the weight is concerned, I don’t have a figure for that. It’s definitely noticeably more than the Magic Keyboard. But I guess you have to have some downsides when the price is so much lower…

The magnets weren't quite as good, and you were limited to only the standard landscape position, but it worked. @TheTechReviewer  Před 7 dny +1

      Sadly, the ESR case parts are not interchangeable...at least none of the ones I have, anyway. The magnets are positioned differently...very frustrating! The Shift won't play nice with the Rebound 360 keyboard case, the Rebound Hybrid case, etc...
      As for propping up the inner case in a temporary drawing angle, maybe you could do that if you closed the Rebound 360 Keyboard Case and then propped up the inner case on the closed keyboard case? Not sure if that low of an angle would be of any help, though. Alternatively, if you already own the Shift case, you can try putting it at the lowest typing/drawing angle, without the inner case, and rest the iPad Pro, in the Rebound 360 keyboard case inner case, against this slightly angled stand. The magnets won’t attach properly, but it will rest there in a reasonably stable manner. Again, though…it won’t be magnetically secured in any way to the Shift case…it would just be leaning up against it.

    Does the iPad attach magnetically without the case (for ESR)

    • @TheTechReviewer

      For the version for the 2022 iPad Pro (M2) ESR Rebound 360, you could attach the iPad Pro to the keyboard case without the inner case, but just in landscape…no elevated landscape or portrait options. However, for the 2024 iPad Pro (M4) version of this ESR Rebound 360 case, you are required to use it with the inner case. It won’t work with a naked iPad at all

      According to info I see online (unfortunately I don't have the proper scale to weigh the two different keyboard cases myself), the Apple Magic Keyboard for the 11 inch iPad Pro 2024 is 580 grams, and the ESR Rebound 360 Keyboard Case for the 2024 iPad Pro 11 inch is 850 grams. So the weight difference is 270 grams...

      Hi @aliabdullah7867! If you are talking about the inner case for this keyboard case, the case is slim and lightweight and doesn't have big bezels. The fit is good overall, but the areas over the port openings have more flex that I would like...probably because of the thinness of the material in those areas. It's a slim case on a slimmer product, so unless they designed the case to be thicker, I think this issue is unavoidable. It's a light duty case, not drop rated, but it is pleasant in the hand and adds value to the package overall. I think it's a nice addition to the ESR Keyboard Case

And also, since the esr is thicker does it protect better the iPad in a backpack compared to the Magic Keyboard? Thank you I appreciate it sorry for so many questions great vid!

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Před 12 dny +1

      Hi! Once you pair the ESR Rebound 360 Keyboard case with bluetooth to your iPad Pro, it will remember the connection and automatically connect the next time. It works well. As far as battery life for your iPad Pro, the ESR Rebound 360 isn't drawing on the iPad's power when it is being used, so it theoretically should make the iPad Pro's charge last longer. I haven't tested that out, however. And I think you are going to get better protection in a backpack with the ESR keyboard case as compared with the Apple Magic Keyboard because you have protection on the sides of your iPad Pro due to the inner case. Plus, you have a strap to keep it closed...something the Magic Keyboard lacks. And the trackpad on the ESR keyboard case seems very similar to the one on the Magic Keyboard, and it does support multi touch gestures. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!!

It’s near-0 chance you drop such a device, we never did, but stay attentive putting in bag not to lose your pencil. Yes, we’ve tried some third party keyboards as logitech touch keyboard with side covering. And… Apple magic keyboard wins - it feels very premium and comfortable. Also you don’t need side covering for an ipad, it’s unnecessary.
      Better to invest more money in official magic keyboard and get a very satisfying feeling every time you using an ipad rather than regrets with third party junk.
