- I think we can all agree that Ranboo deserves a song.
Ranboo has been popping off in the Dream SMP. His acting is absolutely amazing and his character is so interesting! He puts in so much effort when it comes to content and I thought the least I could was give his character some justice with a song. I hope you enjoy!

Ranboo is like the only Dream smp streamer I know that can snap into character any minute, and took advantage of this to prank his viewers into believing lore is starting...... especially when he turn off the music and just laugh at the chat freaking out.......

I just love that about his streams because you just *never know* when lore will happen. He doesn’t really have specific lore streams, the lore could just start at any time in a stream. I love it.

@@justagremlin0 Almost every stream, there'll be a moment where he remembers he can freak out chat, usually by a dono telling him not to, and he turns off the music, talks a bit in his character voice and then laughs at the chat. It's pretty funny to see chat suddenly switch from whatever random thing they're talking about at the time to panic mode.
But on the other hand he also cares which is just amazing. He told chat to close their eyes while killing endermen when he wasnt on the smp and on twitter he started using =) and :] because people freak out at :)
The red text being a pessimistic voice in his head is amazing he is trying to be hopeful but the voice has said NOPE NOT TODAY MY FRIEND.

Ranboo's character has so much depth and complex in it. It's so interesting and intriguing. Ranboo knows how to keep the audience on edge and he never miss the feels. He's a great character and I'm honestly so happy he's getting a song.

I love the "blurry lines" because it references him writing in his memory book with the line "cross my t's and dot my i's, but it also references the blurry line between sides. He can't see the line between good and bad because he just wants to be friends with everyone. Crossing t's and dotting i's also means doing the right thing, usually carefully and meticulously.

Samee, it's really good
Ranboo's canonical character relates to me on a spiritual level. Here's why.
1) I deal with short term memory-loss.
2) I have about 8 people in my mind. (I'm not crazy, I promise.)
3) I sometimes black out.
4) I have been manipulated before multiple times by multiple people.(Including my dad..)
5) I just want to do the right thing.
6) I try my best not to pick sides in anything.
There also are some more, but I can't think if them at this particular moment.
YAYYY!! After Niki, this was the second character I wanted a song for!!
-The way the music is really similar to Fallen Down is such a creative detail, and it immediately tells you, even subconsciously, that this is a Ranboo song.
-I love the way this shows Ranboo's duality, with the optimustic side speaking more, and sounding clearer, but also pacing back and forth and panicking, while the more pessimistic voice rarely speaks, just whispering in his ear and making everything more confusing. It's more distant, but also much more concise and sure of itself.
-I'm not sure what it is, but this song so well captures the anxiety of Ranboo's character. The constant stress, the worry about others, the fear of himself. The way he blocks everything else out to listen to the voices in his head chasing each other in circles. How overwhelming everything is. The lines "'You are helpless'...'you are fine'" are so powerful. It's hard to say which is more reassuring to hear, and which is more confusing. It's impossible to tell what's true and what isn't. The whole thing is slightly panicked, but it's just not clear enough to see where it's coming from. It's like he's not sure if the enemy he's fighting is an external force or if it's just himself. Going straight from "Everything's so far from clear" to "I'm sorry" also just shows how, even surrounded by smoke and mirrors, Ranboo is very conscious of himself and his effect on others, and tries to apologize for the things he has no control over.
I just needed to gush I guess. This song is so smart.

Looking back at these songs by Amanda it shows how tragic the DreamSMP is. Especially listening to Quackity's, Techno's and this one
Quackity's goes through three different people, the first verse for Jshlatt talking about how he had enough of being his "footstool". The second on Techno and how he had enough of Techno's anarchy. Finally on Dream and how Dream is like a puppeteer, manipulating the server, how doesn't want to be a part of that anymore. Also the way he calls Lmanburg his hometown and when he says "unbreakable" his voice shakes slightly in the song really got to me in the heart. It emphasizes on the fact that even though he is a happy silly character most of the time he also had his fair share of trauma.
Techno's song actually explaining his characters betrayed side in better detail and doesn't go on just about the violence. How you didn't want to get on his bad side and how he trusted Tommy then Tommy choose the other side. Also it goes on how Tommy just used him. A few times it goes on how he didn't want friends anyways when his character is probably just lonely.
Then this one explains Ranboo's character's darker side and how he argues with himself blaming the bad things on the server on himself. How he just wants to pick people over the sides and that he thinks he is doing the right things while no one trusts him for his thoughts. "Monsters in his head" are probably Dream and how Dreams voice always comes back in his head and makes him doubt himself more. The last line wraps up the whole song and the panic room in a very perfect way.
These are all well done songs and looking into the deeper meanings of the lyrics kind of really gets to my heart. There are definitely a whole bunch of things I missed or skipped and the lyrics have a lot of deep meanings to them. Also, these are all beautiful to listen to.

Then the dark side starts up. dream tormenting ranboo, leading him to believe he might actually not be who he thinks,

and oh that last line, ending the song on s a depressing note... nothing's resolved, ranboo's more confused than ever, aaaah it's so good.

I think this song is amazing. Especially, if you go deeper in it.
The beginning, even before the part of singing starts the tension. The "Here I am again" shows either, that the lyrical I (Ranboo) was at this place before and revisits it over and over or that there is a split personality (that is the actual case in the Dream SMP). One of the other personalities - not the main personality - is completly independent from his known view, so if it takes over the body the lyrical I does not remember anything it did in this phase. So in the first line of the text the lyrical I could be somewhere without remembering to have gone there. The other independent personality was coing there before the song started.
The second line "pacing back and forth" is something people iften do, if they are thinking or talking to people about a topic, they either really like or really hate. In combination with the first line, the lyrical I has multiple personalities with one independent one and does not remember how it got to this position. It thinks about how it got there or about how to get back home.
The next two lines confirm, that there are multiple personalities: "won't you go away/ I don't wanna play anymore". That expresses, that the lyrical I has no control over this personality. The second of these two lines expresses, that the lyrical I wants to make the personality look harmless. For comparism if someone has a dog thats lout and bits people often they say "he just wants to play" or something like that. Another possible interpretation on this line could be, that the lyrical I thinks that the personality thinks that the lyrical I wants to play and now the lyrical I tells the personality, that it doesn't want to play.
The next 4 lines "I'm picking people/ I'm not picking sides/ Im tired of the thoughts/ You're trying to put in my mind" express, that friendship is more worthful to the lyrical I than anything else (I also think that :) )
Then the next four lines "I never meant any harm/ I just wanted to help/ You're telling me/ I've got no one to blame except myself" show that the lyrical I tries to help, but it makes everything even worse than before.
The refrain fits very well, due to the fact that ot shows the connections between everything that wastold before. It is the final confirmation, that the lyrical I has multiple personalities. One is the lyrical I and the others are called monsters (from this point I will also call them monsters). Monster or monsters is often used as an insult for people, that do unmoral things like killing others or freeing not so innocent people from prison to keep the crime running. In this case the lyrical I (main personality + all the personalities that depend on it) either fears or knows, that the monsters try to do something as unmoral. In the second and the third line of the refrain "There's a monster looking back at me/ In the mirror" show, thatthe lyrical I sees the monsters in itself, in its own outward appereance. The monsters change it. The next line "everything's so far from clear" explains the confusion and how hopeless it is. The confusion could either mean, that the lyrical I is not sure, if there really are other personalities or if its just itself. In this case it has problems to remember anything, but it also knows which information is possibly harmful in case of remembering it, so it could either write them down at a hidden place it only remembers with such memories. Thats also like our brain works. We never really forget really bad things we have done or that we experienced. They are locked in a part of the brain, that we could enter, if we wanted to, but due to the fact, that we dont remember them naturally - without help of others - we wont be able to see this part of the brain without help.
The other possible reason for the confusion I just wrote a book about 😉 is, that the lyrical I doesn't know anything, and if it tries to help others it doesnt know how, because it doesnt know what happens, even if it was a witness.
Of course both explanations of the confusion could be pissible together, too. The next line in the refrain "And I'm sorry I can't help but panic" confirms at least the second of them.
(The next line was hard to understand for me. Maybe I got it completely wrong, but thats not my fault, but google translators then ;D) The next line "Did I cross my t's and dot my i's?" Shows, that the lyrical I is either confused enough or forgetful or both. In combınation with the lines befor the confusion and the forgetfulness are both confirmed, so its just another expression of them.
The end of the refrain "Everything's just blurry lines/blurry lines" expresses the obscureness of the lyrical I, just like if it wears glasses without needing them.
The next line "You say a friend to all is a friend to none" shows two things:
There are diffrent types of friendship - one of them is real friendship (like I call it); Interaction between the people is essential; The next one is payd friendship (also just a way I call it); here you pay your 'friends' for being your friends or you have the same interests; So in both cases of payd friendship its a limited friendship. The third and last friendship is the false friendship(also just how I call it); Its a play on one or both sides of the line. The actor plays a role, that likes the other person, but in reality it doesnt like the other person. Its the worst type of friendship, because you make the other one pay for what you have done - and a friend to all doesn't exist, so its one of the worse friendships this frient to all has. But its not a real friendship.
The other way to interpretate it is completly diffrent. It is not about friendship between people, but zhe feeling or the emotion of friendship. You can't have the same emotion for everyone and say what it really is. You may call it friendship, but in this case its just how you call it. It could be any other feeling/emotion, too. So the friendship is a wrong interpretated feeling for someone who is a friend to all in the perspective of the lyrical I.
Next the lyrical I expresses, that it really tries to be or do something. In context it tries to make friends. The next line "I never meant to hurt anyone" explains, why the lyrical I just tries to make friends instead of making them and not just trying: every time it gets close with someone it hurts this person somehow while it doesnt want to.
The next to lines of this song "Am I wrong?/Am I right?" Express the confusion and underline this confusion, because they are hlaf rethorical questions and an antithesis at the same time.
After that its the first time the monsters speak (their text will be with a | at the beginning of their text each line. "_normal text |monsters' text/normal_text |monsters' text" the _ show the point the monsters start to speak/sing): "| You are hopeless". The next line "You are fine" is the completly opposit of the thing the monsters sayd. So the lyrical I knows its hopeless, but it does not want to accept that. The monsters try to make it accept this fact. The text of the lyrical I also is an antithesis to everything it sayd before. After this the refrain repeats and has the same effect as before, but much more powerful. But this time the line "Everythings so far from clear" is altered by the line "_I wish it would disappear | it's never gonna disappear". The lyrical I talks with the monsters or rather the monsters talk to the lyrical I, but the lyrical I wants that it stops. The monsters on the other hand say, that they wont disappear at the same time. The reason its possible at the same time is, that even tho your independend personalities are independend, they still know what you think and want to say.
The next verse "_Everythings gonna be okay | Nothings gonna be okay" shows, that the lyrical I thinks, that the monsters will disappear and everything will be solved, but the monsters know that this is not possible. In the rest of the stanza the lyrical I will lose the hope slowly "They'll be brighter days/I tell myself_its not my fault | its all your fault/But there are things i can't recall/maybe I was out of line/maybe I'm losing my mind/I tell myself_that Ill be fine/you're far from fine/But all I see are blurry lines" the lines "But there are things I cant recall" , "Maybe I was out of line" and "Maybe Im losing my mind" are important, because the lyrical I admits, that it has done bad things, then it excuses itself and finally it gibes up. This underlines everything the monsters say and it underlines everything mentioned so far.
The last refrain in this song is also changed at the end. There is the line "It's all, it's all, it's all just blurry lines" added between "Everything's just blurry lines" and "blurry lines". That underlines the whole confusion and unclearness another time.
The last line "you've got no one to blame exept yourself" shows, that the lyrical I accepts the fact, that the monsters are a part of it. They have no matter and are one side of the lyrical I. If the lyrical i wants to blame anyone it has to blame the monsters, that are a part of the lyrical I. So it would blame itself.
My opinion without any analysis:
The song is relly good. In the few weeks it is out now it helped me a lot to calm down, whenever i was angry. Its also a song I could hear in any situation, because its just one of the few perfect songs for me. I started watching the dream SMP 2 months ago and the song fits perfectly to Ranboo's role in there. I mentioned the tension in the beginning, because without that part I think I would have stopped hearing after the first line, because there is nothing that holds me. It would have been a big mistake if I would habe stopped listening, because the song is great. It also fits to my own real life character in some parts. Keep on your good work :D
