- This video is a glimpse into the day of a Boise Police School Resource Officer. BPD is proud of the SRO program, one of Idaho's first, established in 1976. The School Resource Officer program is unique in that's it's value is for crimes prevented, as well as for crimes solved. Over the years, dedicated officers have helped an untold number of children through difficult times and on to lead productive lives. Through education and enforcement and by cooperative efforts with the school staff, the students, the parents, the courts, and the communities social service organizations, the S.R.O. program strives to assist the schools with providing a safe school environment. SRO's strive to hold juveniles responsible for their actions and prevent individual problems from developing into patterns of delinquency. I want this officer at my school!
@Epscadets The Boise Police Department does not have a body armor requirement. It is listed as a prefered practice, but it is not a requirement. Each officer is given the option, and provided armor, but it is up to them to guage the hazards they face on a day to day basis and make that final determination!
We need more Resource Officers in every school. Period! You Guys and Gals train for active shooter situations every year. We need at least one in every school. Gun control wont change crap. They will get the weapons just as easy as meth and coke. More trained resource officers is the Key. Oh yeah...and maybe train every Principal on active shooter and allow them to carry. Peace.

@scourgefe1nd Boise Police SRO's are fully certified Boise Police Officers. The Position of SRO in the City of Boise must be earned by veteran officers who have already been patrolmen for a period of time!

I was just wondering seeing that I wear Body Armor and My uniform shirt always has print however I didnt notice this officer wearing any. Just wondering why??
