All the surnames you see in the names of Nairs including "Nambiar" are title names accorded by Rajas and Maharajas - they are NOT caste names!

All kings and soldiers in ancient kerala were nairs. The concept that parashurama killed all Kshatriyas led to brahmin not considering nairs as kshatriyas. And nairs were raised as kshatriyas by hiranyagarbha rituals. Application of classic varna system to kerala is meaningless. Hoysala brahmins and nairs cluster together genetically.

Ezhava / Thiyya History - Ezhava and Thiyyas are commonly known as Kottikal ( Toddy Tappers - which means Toddy Tapping was their Traditional work ( Job ) back in the days. And they were the victims of untouchablity until 1936. Brahmins and Nairs were called them CHANDALA and Panchamas. In 1505 , Barbosa the famous historian and Tourist those who came to kerala had mentioned in his book, " Thiyyathi Ladies were the concubine of the Europeans. Most of the women in Ezhavas have husbands, since they are considered beautiful, especially in port towns they have to be the victims of many temptations, it's rare that they oppose - Thiyyas were the hard labour workers, the wives and daughters of the Thiyyas are doing prostitution, husband endures it humbly without opposing, not only the Mukkoyas ( Fishermen caste Ladies ) their are no other prostitutes or wives here. The youngest beauties among them can be given 7 - 8 tharans ( French coins ) The voyage of Francis Pyrad de laval page - 386 , 387 . Caste system in kerala History page # 35 All the prostitutes in Malabar are from the Thiyya caste. When women of other caste only lay with men of their own caste, the women of Thiyya are ready to sleep with anyone after charging a certain amount. The majority of Thiyyas don't have husbands, that's why they do the prostitution ( John Pinkerton - The famous historian ) In the past memories of the History book written by P. V. Vargeese, in the early 20 th century " Ezhava Thiyyas were considered guilty in moral things, the background they came out of was like that, a major portion of Christians from the Thiyya Community... I have seen white children in their houses running and playing, then I could knew they were the children of the soldiers in kannur Barack... this used to happen as a result of the plantation owners of the east mountains coming to enjoy at the sea bungalows in kannur ( E. P. Vargeese, Angamaly, poorvvakaala smaranakal, page- 141 ) Toddy Tappers it's an other name of Ezhava / Thiyyas were known as" Chandalas " in their hut they were selling Toddy and prostitution.... they were facing the untouchablity back in the days, they had to keep the distance 32 feet away from the brahmins ( Nampoothiris ) and 16 feet away from the Kshthriya Nairs during the day time only, but it was not applicable while doing prostitution in dark... in some places of kerala Ezhava / Thiyya Ladies were the sex slaves of the Nair / Nambiar Landlords. The famous historical book - social mobility in kerala stating that " in the bad old days our people sold the Toddy they tapped directly from their houses. Nayars would come to the house. Call for Toddy, and our women would serve it. Some of them would then call for our women to go in the backroom with them, and we let them do it ; what else we could do ? Our houses were Toddy shops and our women were prostituted. Chandala Ezhava / Thiyyas ( Toddy Tappers ) Community where the one who donated many prostitutes - Nalini Jameela, Swapna Suresh, and Pimps in kerala, the notorious Pimp - Rahul Pasupalan those who was trapped in " Operation Big Daddy " Pasupalan was doing prostitution with underaged Girls !! In the old days each of the Ezhava / Thiyya cottages were like the Pattaya in Thailand, they used to sell the Toddy in every hut and prostitution as well... Nair / Nambiar Landlords were their main clients. Ezhava caste earned money and Land only doing by the prostitution..... The Ezhava women who kept 16 feet distance from the Nairs, those who performed the Kshthriya Dharma, during the day only. but it was not applied at night.

You r right Sita Lekshmi. When foreigners came and settled here they used native ladies, may be of any caste or slave category, including Thiyyas, ok. Similarly when the Aryans came here and settled here once upon a time , they brought no ladies with them except some cattles. So the then male Aryans also used native ladies from here for their biological need. In the circumstances the present Shenoy community is also a product of such ladies. Means all communities are related to prostitution or sexual connection with the powerful .All human beings are related to Gothras when we go back as you know. But the first medical doctors from Kerala ( Ayyathan Gopalan, Janaki Ammal ) first ICS (IAS) from Kerala ( Ramunny), first women scientist from Kerala ( Janaki Ammal), first Malayali to compose scientific book published in Europe ( Itty Achuthan) Firstly Deputy collector of Kerala ( Kanaaran), the richest man in Travancore, the first Hindu to buy a Car, the owner of the biggest house in Travancore ( Alummoottil Channar), the highest salary paid Hindu in Travancore ( Dr. Palpu) , the first law graduate woman from Kerala ( Goury), the first women minister of Keral ( K R Goury) etc were Ezhavas/ Thiyyas, and not the Shenoys born with psuedo ‘superiority’ which in turn results in belittling the Hindu fellow beings.
Mr, Varna system never existed in Kerala. Only caste (profession) was the criterion here. So the question of sudra/kshatriya categorisation has no relevance. If one goes by the fundamental of Varna division, those who rule, own land and fight wars are kshatriya. By that Funda, Nair's were khatriyas by karma. Originally, Kerala people were only land owners and workers. Nembootiris came from Tulu Nadu and theeya/ ezhava / chekava/ were brought from theevu/eezham (both Sreelanka) / Chomu dweep (jawa).
Nair's have j2 haplogroups 36 percentage...the term nairi is mesopotamian,Armenia,scinthian...ezhava haplogroup mostly lm20 originated in indian peninsula before 40000 years..now all are. Undergoing genetic mix..
There is no kshatriyas in India/world for that matter because of parashuram,he killed all kshatriyas 21 times and even killed unborn ones in the umbilical cord. That's why the dharmashastras say there is no true kshatriya in the medival/modern bharath.....The surviving ones are Vratyas kshatriya that's why all Vratya kshatriya jaatis come into Sat Sudra......Vratyas/Sat Sudra means any dwija(Brahmin,Kshatriya,Vaishya) degraded due to their own deeds they are devoid of the scared thread due to their or their ancestors wrong doing. The ones who say kshatriya now are not the true kshatriyas they are Vratyas kshatriya/Sat Sudras....The Vratya kshatriya jaathis of india are Rajputs,Andhra raajus,Kerala Nairs,Karnataka Bunts & All that Suryavanshi, Chandravanshis, Yedhuvanshi,Naagvanshis,Agnivanshis claiming guys etc...This is the reason why most of the medival and modern Brahmanas never accepted anyone as kshatriyas because the Brahmin God Parashuram wiped out all kshatriyas from the face of this planet.....A Vratya jaathi one can alone regain his lost kshatriyahood by the process of hiranyagarbha. This practice happend in travancore all the heir of the thrown underwent this process but the last king Chitra thirunal didn't did this ritual saying this as an very expensive ritual.... the jaathi of most kings of kerala was Nair from Travancore to Samoodhiri kingdom that's why hiranyagarbha was done to some of those throne aspiring ones and the rest of vratyas simply were ignorant about this thing of regaining the kshatriyahood and another one thing is it is the most expensive thing a person can do in the medival/modern India.

Ezhava / Thiyya History - Ezhava and Thiyyas are commonly known as Kottikal ( Toddy Tappers - which means Toddy Tapping was their Traditional work ( Job ) back in the days. And they were the victims of untouchablity until 1936. Brahmins and Nairs were called them CHANDALA and Panchamas. In 1505 , Barbosa the famous historian and Tourist those who came to kerala had mentioned in his book, " Thiyyathi Ladies were the concubine of the Europeans.
Most of the women in Ezhavas have husbands, since they are considered beautiful, especially in port towns they have to be the victims of many temptations, it's rare that they oppose - Thiyyas were the hard labour workers, the wives and daughters of the Thiyyas are doing prostitution, husband endures it humbly without opposing, not only the Mukkoyas ( Fishermen caste Ladies ) their are no other prostitutes or wives here. Toddy Tappers it's an other name of Ezhava / Thiyyas were known as" Chandalas " in their hut they were selling Toddy and prostitution.... they were facing the untouchablity back in the days, they had to keep the distance 32 feet away from the brahmins ( Nampoothiris ) and 16 feet away from the Kshthriya Nairs during the day time only, but it was not applicable while doing prostitution in dark... in some places of kerala Ezhava / Thiyya Ladies were the sex slaves of the Nair / Nambiar Landlords.
The famous historical book - social mobility in kerala stating that " in the bad old days our people sold the Toddy they tapped directly from their houses. Nayars would come to the house. Call for Toddy, and our women would serve it. Some of them would then call for our women to go in the backroom with them, and we let them do it ; what else we could do ? Our houses were Toddy shops and our women were prostituted.

Similarly when the Aryans came here and settled here once upon a time , they brought no ladies with them except some cattles. So the then male Aryans also used native ladies from here for their biological need. In the circumstances the present Shenoy community is also a product of such ladies. Means all communities are related to prostitution or sexual connection with the powerful .All human beings are related to Gothras when we go back as you know. Mr, Varna system never existed in Kerala. Only caste (profession) was the criterion here. So the question of sudra/kshatriya categorisation has no relevance.
If one goes by the fundamental of Varna division, those who rule, own land and fight wars are kshatriya. By that Funda, Nair's were khatriyas by karma.
Originally, Kerala people were only land owners and workers. Nembootiris came from Tulu Nadu and theeya/ ezhava / chekava/ were brought from theevu/eezham (both Sreelanka) / Chomu dweep (jawa).
Varna system existed all over India.
Nair's have j2 haplogroups 36 percentage...the term nairi is mesopotamian,Armenia,scinthian...ezhava haplogroup mostly lm20 originated in indian peninsula before 40000 years..now all are. Undergoing genetic mix..
There is no kshatriyas in India/world for that matter because of parashuram,he killed all kshatriyas 21 times and even killed unborn ones in the umbilical cord. That's why the dharmashastras say there is no true kshatriya in the medival/modern bharath.....The surviving ones are Vratyas kshatriya that's why all Vratya kshatriya jaatis come into Sat Sudra......Vratyas/Sat Sudra means any dwija(Brahmin,Kshatriya,Vaishya) degraded due to their own deeds they are devoid of the scared thread due to their or their ancestors wrong doing. The ones who say kshatriya now are not the true kshatriyas they are Vratyas kshatriya/Sat Sudras....The Vratya kshatriya jaathis of india are Rajputs,Andhra raajus,Kerala Nairs,Karnataka Bunts & All that Suryavanshi, Chandravanshis, Yedhuvanshi,Naagvanshis,Agnivanshis claiming guys etc...This is the reason why most of the medival and modern Brahmanas never accepted anyone as kshatriyas because the Brahmin God Parashuram wiped out all kshatriyas from the face of this planet.....A Vratya jaathi one can alone regain his lost kshatriyahood by the process of hiranyagarbha. This practice happend in travancore all the heir of the thrown underwent this process but the last king Chitra thirunal didn't did this ritual saying this as an very expensive ritual.... the jaathi of most kings of kerala was Nair from Travancore to Samoodhiri kingdom that's why hiranyagarbha was done to some of those throne aspiring ones and the rest of vratyas simply were ignorant about this thing of regaining the kshatriyahood and another one thing is it is the most expensive thing a person can do in the medival/modern India.
