Just once I'd like to hear this man say the word, "Wrong". Just for the sake of it.
In any case... This house is amazing. I'm glad they brought it to us.

You want to know who Brent's favorite architect is? Frank Lloyd Right.

I'm so glad to see Brent enjoy a modern style building! I had the perception that he was one of those guys that thought everything was better back then and that everything modern is not as good.

Love this house. MCM is my all-time favorite architectural design style. So elegant and engaging, but so simple at the same time.

This was from 1953? Definitely ahead of its time. I like weird interesting designs like this, so mid century modern videos give me my oddball fix. All that glass though, right here in big storm prone DFW, Texas! Three words anyone in this home would dread hearing from Brad Barton on WBAP: Softball size hail!

Future video editing software will have the ability to automatically remove all the “likes” and “rights”,
    mark my words.

We already have tools that can find and remove the sound. The issue is how to keep the lips in synch. There about a dozen use cases, with the simplest on those sections where he is just doing a voice over. Those you can just cut out. The hard ones are when you are showing his face in a close up. The AI can fix it but you have to tell it how and then render frame by frame.
But yeah, it will be automagic soon enough.

Eichler was a FLW protege. His homes however were very cheap and really poorly built. My 2nd home I ever owned was an Eichler in Oakland hills. Used to cost me $750/mo in utility bills. That was 35 years ago, at today’s costs that would probably be double. The house had 2 large panes, was not tempered glass, implode during ‘89 quake.
This home appears far better workmanship than an Eichler but I can’t imagine the utility bills for hvac on that home in TX climate.

That seems to be a big issue with mid century modern homes especially the more vanity based ones. I mean when you literally have nothing separating the instead from the outside except for steel muntins and single pane glass coupled with unbroken concrete slabs that go from exterior to interior, it's sort of inevitable. The more opaque parts of the walls are often CMU or some from of uninsulated brick. They may for beautiful tours but when it comes to living many of them were not in the right climate. I'm not sure how a person could go about upgrading some of these houses without completely destroying the historical value. So much is of historical accuracy is tied to the window panes so how do you try to double or triple glass it, well you can't really without ripping everything out.

You never spent $750 a month 35 years ago, and if you did that would be about $3000 a month today, not double like you said.

Those old Eichlers are going for 7 figures, according to videos I've watched. A lot of the hip coffeehouse types love em.

I want to see an entire subdivision of 2020 Modern homes, Built by Build in Austin. Risinger + Baczek, get money from Musk the way A. Quincy Jones did from Williams... He needs thousands of homes for all the workers at his factories.

Considering all the geometric shapes, it must have taken an army of craftsmen to build every surface. It's not my style, but it's remarkably unspoiled.

Which architectural style do you like?

    • @MisterMikeTexas
      @MisterMikeTexas Před rokem

I wouldn't say it's ugly. I'd call it interesting. There's something about it that I like. Maybe that something is it's not another McMansion. Maybe it's that the styling is different, a bit oddball, a bit weird. I also like alternative rock, the various sub-genres. And quite a bit of the modern jazz. I could be drinking a cup of coffee in the kitchen, Steely Dan on the stereo, followed by some Roxy Music. It's a hip place in a Mad Men era sort of way.
