- I am going to get a new recumbent trike! AZUB reached out to me and asked if I would like to give a Ti-Fly a try! I’ll be flying out to Malaysia then Europe to get it all set up and then bring it back to USA to built it and hook it up to the back of the van so I can be a van traveling/trike riding/podcast recording/vlog making traveler.

Obviously I don't own a trike "yet", but from everything I've read, packing over a 26" wheel is a somewhat different experience :) . The folding system is very interesting: czcams.com/video/twyS_ymq-KE/video.html , but three big wheels is also a bigger folder trike if you don't remove the wheels..
Matt it is absolutely okay to be all over the place with your passion. Some people never venture out on any of their plans, but you have inspired many to go with the flow! There’s no right or wrong way to express what you love! We are happy to live vicariously through you! Keep doing what you love and keep documenting your life! You will love the new AZUB. We currently have 4. Two Ti-Fly X, Ti-Fly 26 and a Ti-Fly 20.
Matt, I have two AZUB trikes, a Tricon 26, and a Ti-Fly X. I have taken the Ti-Fly X on a mountain bike skills course, and I have ridden it over jumps - what a hoot! The Ti-Fly X is BIG , but it allows you to do things like ford small streams that you could never do sitting closer to the ground. The folks at AZUB are a great group of people who you will love. Have fun.

I own a Azub Ti-Fly 20" - it is pretty nice - I have ridden off road with those 20" Smart Sams on some wild trails and decommissioned logging roads without an issue as the trike sit high unlike my other trike. My other trike is an ICE Sprint RS with 20". Both trikes have Rohloffs with 2 chain rings. You shouldn't run a Mountain Drive with Rohloff as your system will run outside the Rohloff Specs. I met a guy touring on a Cat Trike a few years back with a High Speed Drive (I thought a Speed Drive would be more than sufficient) with a Rohloff. Oh that Azub front suspension is sweet. I have yet to tour on the Azub but my ICE Sprint has a lot of klicks on three continent. I looking an extensive tour this summer through my hood, British Columbia, just to put the Ti-Fly through its' paces. They use to make a soft padded packing case for the Azub which I picked up with my trike in 2019.
He originally had a speed Schumpf, but it had issues with the 20 degree climbs he ran into in China and Vietnam.
@@Krieghandt I figured as much but then he voids his Rohloff warranty. The Rohloffs are over engineered thankfully.

I think the idea is great. The Azub suspension looks great. I ride a Trident trike with a with a TSDZ2 assist. I am 87 years young and say to you GO FOR IT !!!

Wonderful news Matt. Great to hear things are moving in a good direction. With the shift of recent events in the world, I say it’s time to retire the old name and go with the new. A great way to pay homage and still be fresh I believe would be something like the “Turtle Dragon”. It is fitting for the size of the Azub and yet still ironic in “name”. Also still keeping in with the old, having the same initials.
How about that for “passion” being all over the place! Lol

So much fun, I also have a ty-fly with a tri-con for my wife. I wasn’t trying to be stingy but she is 100 lbs with me at 250. The ty-fly is made well beyond my limitations!
Man..I miss seeing the faces of people you would meet when you were on the trike.. Bikes totally start great conversations and people are in aw the power you have to make it where you go.. My short travels I've met so many people..I DO miss your trike stories..

Just home from a visit to portland, rode the bulk of the Columbia river old hwy. The whole of banks Vernonia rail trail. We ride Azub’s. I am on an assisted ti-fly 26, my sisters is a ti-fly x, and my nephew rides a Azub fat, both with steps 8000. My 26 uses a pinion, and both other trike D12. Nice trikes all. But I must say the X is a great balance between the two.Good folks at Azub and have personally met them in portland when I picked up two of the trikes. And again in Bend, with the first one.maybe I will see you out there!

If the war ruins the Europe tour, come tour Australia. You could drop in and visit different recumbent manufacturers and trike dealers around the country and maybe even make an appearance at a pedal prix! Make the local news programs, getting trikes and other recumbents more attention in the general population. Australia needs more people on recumbents and you can help make that happen. Will be looking forward to seeing you on tour again, wherever you go- maybe in person while I'm on my Magnum big wheel in South Aust. Good luck!

Matt.. congratulations on getting to build your new AZUB Ti-Fly X... In my opinion, AZUB is the best quality.. They have a stiffer frame and that makes them more reliable on the road..I have tried most of the brands out there and I love my AZUB T-Tri 26.. and AZUB will back you all the way.
Best news ever! I'm curious though when you'll ride the trike. Will you drive the van to a new country, take the trike down and explore around on the trike, then return to the van? Then drive to the next city/county?
yup! thats the plan... forgo the long slogs and just do the fun stuff... although i did enjoy the long slogs

Talk to Azub about "European delivery". Just like the auto makers do! Buy the trike over there, ride for a given amount of time. (2 weeks to 3 months) Return to a predetermined spot with the factory. You fly home and they ship the trike to the dealer that you bought the trike from. Money paid in advance and still shipped by the company! If it works great for BMW, Mercedes and Volvo ,,, why not Azub?
Here's a thought. Put your Tiger Duck on top of the van! Instant recognition and advertising :D

Really great news.....I have seen pictures of if and it looks really well made and a lot of thought in the development of it. I will be in Europe in June on a bike trip along the Danube...from the source to Vienna with my two brothers. Really looking forward to it....will be in contact to see what part of Europe you will be in...who knows?

I am going to fabricate a trike rack that plugs into the trailer receiver.
I have an AZUB TriCon26. It’s an excellent trike. I test rode a Scorpion, Gekko, Adventure, TriCon, and TiFly. The two AZUBs have a much more sporty feel in my opinion though the turning circle was worse. I had Triker tires up front and a Marathon out back and had no fear going anywhere with them though sand was a bit of an issue. It also had Shimano Diore 3x10 gearset. I’ve gone to more of a high speed setup as I don’t tour with it but I do ride brevets. I know run Contact 2’s up front and a Kojak in back and swapped the gearset for a mix SRAM AXS parts in a 2x12 setup. My low range is not as good but my steps are closer. I’m looking into making a new trike, either a customized TiFly or a fully custom titanium trike for my high speed riding and restoring my TriCon to a touring setup.
Oh, one more thing. You can change from a 2x20/26 to a 3x26 and back if you have the separate wheels and the spacer for the rear shock. My dealer does this on his personal TiFly.

And on that Ti Fly X, you probably could do away with the Schlumpf drive as you won’t need it with the 14speed Rohloff. And, you won’t really need a manual shifter for the two-ring crank. Just switch it with your hand on the odd occasion you need the smaller chain ring.

I really hope this happens for you. It would be great if you can get the "tiger duck" back. It's felt like a missing piece of your puzzle for quite some time now. Best of luck. I'll be following for more trike updates.
@Matt: When you design the rack(s) to hold your trike, consider a modification/accommodation that will hold 3 "bikes" for when Eva & Anny are able to travel with you. (Just a thought, before you settle on a permanent fixture).
Also you definitely want to get the King Carrier (rear rack) for it. Extremely solid and can hold 4 panniers.

Love this Trike man. How to keep it on board your 350 HD is something you should give a lot of thought or at least your bicycle. That’s how I have set up my 350HD.

Matt, I'm very exited together with you.... wow, nice the way you can get back to trike riding. I'm not even a beginner yet. Rode all my life on regular bikes, bought last year a gravelbike, but I'm highly interested in a trike (not an e-trike)... Here in Thailand it is not as easy to get one like in Europe or the US and I guess I start with a second hand first.... Hope you come back to Thailand one day. It would be fun to meet you. My friends and I go on our bicycles to Pak Nam Pran (a few km south of Hua Hin) where we have a stop in a restaurant, named Baan Pal (most cyclists stop there). That would be a nice meeting point.... just let me know if you are there one day in the hopefully not so distant future!

Why I do not mount my bikes nor trikes outside of the vehicle - the eddies of the wind beats dirt on the bikes/trikes and really get the chain and parts dirty, plus they are not secure they can get damaged or stolen. Spending 5 to 8 grand on a trike plus accessories, without question they get stored inside - full stop.
Great bike ! why did you not go for the electric Ep8/6/6100 (etc) support which you can switch on/off when needed ?
I would like to try electric. But happy with the Azub now.
Restrictions in Malaysia will be relaxed starting this coming April....
I think you might prefer to have that trike mounted vertically on that right door rather than cross-wise. Maybe have the spare tire with…..a spare gas container on the left side.
