    I've met Honza Gala from AZUB in the Czech... Most don't know that AZUB trikes are made in a small town. and Each of the custom components are made by members of the town. I have the T-Tris and love it.. This was my second recumbent trike. The first was a Catrike Expedition. I'm so happy i upgraded to the High Quality of the AZUB. Makes all the difference.. Congratulations.. You got the Cadillac of trikes... :)

      I had the pleasure of meeting him at recumbent trike convention in Pomona, CA some years back. Great guy. I could instantly feel the difference in quality when test-riding other trikes compared with AZUB products. I know this may upset some folks and I don't mean to. I just think they make a superior product. When your own behind tells you that from the seat of your pants you kind of have to listen.

    Wow, when you mentioned the Hernia Repair surgery, I felt a connection because I experienced that earlier this year myself. Not to mention that I also have an Azub Ti-fly X trike from Utah Trikes. I just received a Bafang ultra motor kit from Utah Trikes, and I was watching installation videos, which led me to your video. Let that surgery heal and get back out there soon! 😊

    • @daveyJ213
      @daveyJ213  Před rokem

      Bafang Ultra? I have to look that up. I really miss my Bafang kit. Between it and the Shimano system, I think it's the best. Yes, I'm all healed up for the most part and back out riding. Are you going to post any information on your install? I would really love to see it. I'm thinking of taking a road trip back to Utah Trikes to have them switch out my derailleur in the back for a Rohloff. I should have bitten the bullet when I bought the AZUB. Take care, Brother. Don't push it too much with that surgery. Keep me posted.

  • @helphelpimbeingrepressed9347

    What a beautiful piece of kit! I'd love one with a bafang 1000w, dual batteries with a Rohloff rear hub....mmmm, things I can't afford

    • @daveyJ213
      @daveyJ213  Před 2 lety +2

      Believe me; it took years of allowance savings. I wanted the Rolloff rear hub, but decided I could not endure the added expense. Wish I would have gone ahead though. Sometimes the derailleur is way fussy, but if it ever does break it would be worth the immense savings in time an expense it would take to get the Rohloff repaired. Keep saving - you will get there before you know it. Note: you'd better get a pilot's license if you plan on the Bafang 1000W. That thing flies!

Just looked up the Hase Lepus. I had never heard to that trike before. It looks awesome. I think there would be an immediate advantage to having two drive wheels in back instead of just one. Sometimes on loose gravel I will spin out or lose traction. Is yours electrically assisted also? How long have you had it? Looks like the rider sits much higher off of the ground. Is there tip-over danger? Stable?

    • @daveyJ213
      @daveyJ213  Před 2 lety

      I ordered the trike with those tires. They are great!. On my first AZUB I bullet proofed the tires by adding a thorn resistant liner between the inside tire surface and the rim, and then switched the original tubes for an extra thick-rubbered "thorn-resistant" inner tube. Result: wheels are a bit heavier, but NEVER a flat on that trike in 12 years. Took my first ride of the season about 5 days ago. Still cold but fun.

    Heard you mentioned hernia surgery, from I am aware, USA use the mesh procedure which a lot of patient report pain during the recovery. Canada use the tissue repairing method which takes much long for the surgeon but generally it provides a much better result. This method basically no pain during recovery. USA medical care system make decisions purely base profits not much on patient care. I am not sure your condition but hope you have a speedy recovery.

    Anything you’d change about your Ti Fly? Any regrets?

    • @daveyJ213
      @daveyJ213  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey. The only thing I wish I had gone ahead and purchased was the internally geared Rohloff Hub. The larger gearing range would have been beneficial. I just could not talk myself into the extra $1600 at the time. The derailleur is working fine, it's just clunky sometimes, especially when having to change gears with the chain under tension. The bike itself is fantastic. For a while I could not locate the source of a bad wobble when braking. The whole trike undulated and pulled to the left. I thought the disc was warped, but it wasn't. During a routine wellness check of the trike I found two bolts on the left front wheel were not tightened enough. The wheel could wobble on the axle mount which translated to wobble under braking. After tightening the bolts all wobble is gone; the trike brakes straight and true.
      It's very fun to ride. I've put 390 miles on her so far. The suspension is a dream. I can't believe how easily it rolls with three 26" wheels. If there is the slightest degree of downhill slope, say 1%, the trike just takes off and coasts at 10+ miles per hour. It's amazing. My top downhill speed to far is 34.8 mph. The suspension smooths out the road. No wobble or fear of tipping over.
      Within the next 3 weeks I will have another video posted of a fantastic 10-mile trail I found that runs along the north side of Lake Crescent. It's call the Spruce Railroad Trail. It's an old railroad line that was used to bring lumber out of the mountains. They removed the rails and completely paved the entire trail. It's now part of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT). I'll post near the end of the month.
