Do you have any suggestions on how to remove a dustcap on a late 40's 12" Bell and Howell Jensen? I bought one of those Filmosound cabinets that was water damaged for practically nothing for the speaker which I wanted to restore on the cheap. There was some rust and the person who owned it tried to remover the speaker which the cone partially stuck to the baffle. since the cone was basically torn into two piece I hoped to repair it but I don't believe this is possible or sensible. I have an intact spider and voice coil and bought a replacement paper cone. I "think" the best way is to remover the remnants of the cone and the dust cover but I am having trouble removing the dust cover so I can shim the Voicecoil before glueing the surround of the cone to the basket. I have wondered if I should just glue the new cone to the spider and use a battery to space the V.C. while glueing the spider and then the cone. Any suggestions?

What do you recommend to do with a old Celestion that has been over tightened and the basket is slightly deformed causing coil rub? Cheers
