Nice job man, blown away with how nice that media console came out, major respect. Also the fence bar is awesome. I’d call it “Indecision” because, well, it’s always on the fence.
This video gave me some needed confidence and i'm currently building your Ultimate shop cabinets (the uppers right now) and it has been frustrating with the silly mistakes I've been making. Great plans BTW It has been a true test of my truly beginner skills.

Literally my favorite CZcams channel being a beginner in woodworking. You keep things at a level that makes things seem less formidable while letting people know valid and valuable information. Everything in your videos looks "considered"
As for the bar. A good name would be "the learning curve" Shawn's first time using power tools and you wont be walking straight after a couple drinks at the bar.

Honestly makes me feel so much better about my journey in woodworking. I'm constantly comparing myself to the professionals of CZcams and beating myself up about my pieces, but videos like this make me feel so proud of where I've come since I started!

We all start somewhere! Just keep rolling and you will look up one day and be amazed at how far you’ve come.
Never compare yourself to someone better, just draw inspiration from them, knowing with time and practice you'll make things as good or better. Let your imagination lead the parade, and the woodworker will follow. To see your progress, once a year make the same thing.

This comes at just the right time for me. I got rid of all my pine and construction lumber, built up the courage to go to my local hardwoods store and picked up some hard maple, white oak and walnut. Im letting it acclimate like you suggested in your other video for the next couple weeks. Dude I gotta say When you came on the scene I was hesitant but you won me over with Star Wars and your approach to speaking to your audience. Thanks man, may the force be with you

Another great video! I really like that taper jig. This is one of my favorite wood working channels, you really keep the fun in this trade. I’m a self employed renovation carpenter of 30 years, but my real love is site building cabinetry and shelving. I don’t have shop, yet. I get so many great tips and inspirations from channels like yours. You show great integrity with naming where your inspirations for this project came from.

You have quickly become one of my favorite builders on CZcams, and I wanted to echo your sentiment re: measuring.
My father and both of my grandfathers are "Master Carpenters" - as in, they went through the full apprenticeship process, and as a result I grew up in professional grade woodshops and am pretty competent as a woodworker myself. One of the best bits of advice my father ever gave me was to "take as much human error out of the process as possible" well that and "only a CENSORED CENSORED measures every time" and I learned early on to create jigs, templates, and stop blocks to allow for repeatability without the need to measure, because every time you measure is another opportunity to introduce human error.
You mention sticking to a plan when you have a situation where you're making cabinets for a specific space - one of my grandfathers spent much of his career building custom cabinetry, and he had such a time getting things to fit that he ultimately ended up buying reams of super wide butcher paper that he would take to a job site to tape up and physically mark where things were rather than taking down measurement numbers. This allowed him to ensure everything fit before trucking it to the client and finding out he had to cover a half-inch gap or something.
I love your channel. The way your process goes reflects so much closer to what actually happens when i try to build something. I don't think I've ever made something that has gone perfectly from start to finish and there is always some modification that needs to be made. Thank you for showing what 98% of creators are too embarrassed to let us see. I think it makes you much more relatable and as always the humor is on point. God bless from Florida

HA HA HA!! Love that bit with Matt Estlea. Templates and gigs are real time savers and prevent a lot of measurement mistakes that can easily compound each other. Beautiful work on that cabinet - a nice upgrade! I'm making a table for my parents which is my first "real attempt" for mortise and tenon joinery, and although I have a few whoopsies it came out okay considering everything.

I feel like you took all of the most important tips I learned about woodworking over the past 20 years and dispensed them in this video. So much knowledge delivered in such a concise enjoyable delivery. Can't agree more with all of the comments that you are definitely the best woodworking channel going. No overhyped fluff, no pushing to buy useless tools. Great job man.
Side note, at the risk of sounding like a total Woodster, I liked white oak and walnut before it was cool. I like a few other woods too but you probably never heard of them.

The build in a build was cool. Built that same fold down of a fence panel to allow a small trailer to be stored in my back yard when not in use for car. Wouldn't fit through normal gate and didn't want to build a bigger gate, or new gate. Love your stuff.

Call it the “Commodore Perry.” Your neighbor was wearing a Don’t Give Up The Ship shirt from Erie Apparel (I’m from Erie and spotted it instantly). Perry had that flag displayed on his flagship during a victorious engagement against the British on Lake Erie in September 1813.

Great video and I really like the way the build turned out. Like you say, taking your time is key and adding small touches and pushing your skills beyond a comfort zone always helps in these situations. In your case, it works perfectly. Plus, Walnut is overused now, so it’s nice to see something a little different. Keep up the great work.

I once tried gluing paper with 5mm squares onto my workpiece, to cut down on measuring. It was a revelation. For any small pieces I'll use the trick again for sure.

Hey, glad to see you put out a new video, we've been waiting! Also glad to see you rep two of my other favorite channels, Matt Estlea is a stud and I'm amazed he's not more well known. I found him while shopping for a veritas plane and have since watched nearly every video he has. I literally just stumbled across Nick Pedulla's channel last week and all I can say is wow - truly inspiring content. That guy says more in 5 minutes of not talking than 99.9% of content creators do after talking for 30 minutes. You three are in my personal list of top ten best woodworking channels for sure (as is your other fun hidden gem - Third Coast Craftsman, dude has next level jointery skills!), each for different reasons.
Keep it up man, you guys have me interested enough in creating a channel that I created a different account under my business name just to post this!
