- In this step-by-step tutorial video, learn how to reduce the file size that a PowerPoint file takes. As an example, I take a PowerPoint presentation and reduce it from almost 70 MB to only 3 MB, and there's no major difference to the person viewing the presentation.

I really enjoy your presentations. I am a 74- year old College Instructor still working part-time. Going online was a nightmare to begin with, however, following your instructions, particularly on PowerPoint has been invaluable. Thanks a lot!
Well done Kevin! I'm learning a lot through your series even as a seasoned Microsofty :)
Kevin - really like your simple and honest presentation style. I have been using all of these techniques to reduce media heavy presentations for years with similar results. The problem I have is that while using compression and "applying to all pictures" works well for full screen/large photographs with not too much discernible reduction in quality, it really mashes small images - especially logos. I find that I have to delete any logos after compression and re-insert them at full quality otherwise they look terrible. Not a problem if logos are on master slides - but a real pain if they are scattered throughout the presentation.
Really appreciate your hard work and you're teaching skills are excellent! Keep going Kevin!
Hello Kevin
Thank you for a informative video. Do you know a way to see the size in megabytes of a particular slide? Some times in wondering which slide that takes up the most space in a PP presentation. In earlier versions of PP we could Publish all the slides individually an then sort them by size (MB) to find the largest slide.
I tried the things you mention in the video. It did not bring the size down of my PP file. Until I went by the Handout and Notes master views. The size then dropped drastically. There where no pictures or anything else on the Handout and Notes master views - But just pressing them seemed to do the trick.
I cant believe that i reduced a powerpoint sized 1.77 GB to just 987 kb with your Tutorial!!! i watched your video on the day you posted but that day i was not dealing with large files but today when i was really in need of this Trick i used it and yeah!! it really worked!!! Thank you soooo much for the help!! =)
You are so clear in sharing tutorials Kevin. Great to watch all your videos. I'm learning so much.
Stumbled upon this randomly and slide 3 is awesome hahha love this Kevin!
Great video! Just wondering if a picture can still be composed of it was set as the slide background (where it doesn't move). or is it better to not set a picture as background and instead to insert it as a picture and send it to the back? which process will give me a smaller file size? Thanks!
This is a new great technique I learned today. Thank you Kevin.
Amazing...just went from 35.2 to 5.7 just by eliminating cropped pictures!! Thanks for the tip!!
Awesome !!! Great tips Kevin!!! 👍
Yet to watch all of your videos....however your series has made our lives much more simpler....Keep it up......they are all very practical and informative......there are so many hidden features that we were not aware of!!!!!well done!!!!!
Been struggling with file size. Thank you!
Thank you Kevin! This helped with my pentagon meetings
awesome, thanks Kevin. Is there a way to to discard edited VIDEO data like you showed with IMAGE data? I can't find how to discard data from a video i trimmed in order to reduce file size.
Dude thank you so much! I was having trouble uploading to my class due to the size and you helped me cut it in half! thanks!
Just yesterday I was trying to figure out a way to reduce ppt size. Thank you very much Kevin, especially for the 'Compress Pictures' part..
Sure thing :) Compress pictures isn't the most discoverable, but it has such a big impact on the file size.
Great video, nice to see stuff that I didn't know about.
Staying with PowerPoint, s suggestion for a future video is how to recover a corrupt PowerPoint file. These are the bane of my life and it would be great to be able to recover someone's presentation. Thanks.
Very helpful. You're a pro, Kevin
Hiii, i have query.....that how to delete the history of Microsoft teams or any app...??
Just watched your video on how can I reduce the size of my file and it really helps me a lot thank you so much!

What if my Powerpoint doesn't have the Compress Picture icon on the ribbon?
Thank you. I learned a lot.
Great vid. I also like duplicating the file and changing the extension to be a .zip then checking the media to see which images are largest
This really helped! Thanks
Thanks Kevin! Your vid just helped me out in real time!
Wonderful. Thanks Kevin. God bless you and your lovely son and family. I'll try this for sure
Thank you so much, Kevin!! I would have failed my science project if I didn't watch this vid :-D
Yo, this video is so helpful thank you so much, you deserve a sub and like
This is awesome Kevin. I know not that many people know about this and it can be a life safer when saving room on a laptop or sharing a deck with others. :)
Thank you sooooo much. It helped me a lot.
Thank youuuu so much !!! This helped!!
Thank you. This is very helpful information.
This is life-changing for me. Nice one Kevin, keep them coming. The only thing I would add is to how to create a private area within your own CZcams account to host the videos. My work is very restrictive regarding the use of the cloud, so using CZcams as a video file manager is an easy workaround. Thanks again.
This video helped me a lot. Thank you very much!!
Kevin, Thanks so much for such an informative video!!!
Bookmarked you as a great tutorial resource, thanks! Question on the Compress Pictures feature. What I found from a quick search online is 1080P = 81 ppi and 4K = 140 ppi. So, seems like Web (150 ppi) would be more then enough for any presentations up to 4K, right? If so, their descriptions are a bit misleading as I'd think I should be saving as HD for 4K. In your demo I noticed HD (330 ppi) was grayed out. Is that because one or more of the images wasn't that high of resolution to begin with?
Thanks much for this informative video Kevin. You are a very good teacher.😊👍
thank you sooo much it seriously helped
Thank you very much Kevin awesome video 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you link videos can it still be exported as a video file?
Is it possible to delete trimmed section of videos? Am getting compression unsupported and other issues, when I use that function.

Thank you for your videos, you give out some amazing tips and tricks for PPTs. I have a question, please answer as I'm working on something for a client. When I compress photos in a deck like this and make a video of the presentation to be used by the client anywhere, will it have good quality? Basically, I want the quality to be good and the size to be low, so using this technique that you showed, will the quality be good? thank you for your work :)

great video.what about layout templates?

Can you please make a video for sharing screen to tv from laptop please
Content request: I wish to see Outline View promoted more in the wild.
Using Outline view can help users stay organized and better enable the Header Styles which makes that step of creating a Table of Contents. Additionally, by focusing on the Outline view, users are less likely to create multiple different styles for text.
Thank youu❤️
Too good. Thanks kevi n
I was curious to see your son and wife, when you said you were leaving Microsoft
Thanks the video was very informative and helped
Great topic! File sizes are often an issue. One trick I use on still photos is to use the snipping tool to capture and insert the image. It takes a moment to do, but takes up a lot less memory. It’s also great if you need to capture a screen shot or are making an instructional document. In fact the snipping tool would make a great video topic - it’s a great app.
Thanks for the suggestion! There's also a new app called Snip & Sketch, which is supposed to eventually replace the Snipping Tool. I'll add to my list.
Kevin Stratvert yes, it has already, I’m just still stuck on the old name. I use this tool constantly at work to grab info or images that I need in a hurry but that might not be formatted or accessible for regular printing. It’s also great when needing to report error messages to tech support.
@@KevinStratvert Aloha Kevin, just found your channel today after searching for PP tutorials. Learning a lot! Mahalo. Question, what's the best way to suggest improvements to Microsoft. Specifically, love the snip & sketch but would love it more if instead of just freehand draw it also had the ability to draw shapes such as rectangle or oval to highlight items and maybe add an arrow? Unless you have an easier/better suggestion.
Amazing trick :D
Thank you somuch sir it really help me a lot
Thankss sir,
Kevin is just so honest
Very rare kind of guy.
THANK YOU
Thank you so much sir
I have only a Chromebook or a MAC, without PPT. I normally can open PPT files with Google Slides, but this one gives me a message that the file is too big to open. What should I do? anything for free?
