Its a song written by American composers of Hollywood musicals, Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstien the second. In 1945. It was then played repeatedly at every halftime interval at Celtic's home games until it bacame a crowd favorite. Incidentally the Liverpool fans caught on at the same time as us. So both sets of fans have claim to making it very popular in football.

Fantastic. As an Englishman compare that to the atmosphere at the end of the FA Cup final yesterday where they just blast out music that drowns out the crowd, no where near the level of this atmosphere. If he does go to the EPL he needs to find a down to earth club who can show this type of passion and Spurs is not a good fit for him IMO.

That song became a big hit with celtic fans after the european semi at celtic park in '66 v liverpool, at parkhead cross they were joining in together singing doing into rhe ground, till the return leg at annfield ended in a riot, lennox onside goal ruled ' offside' by ref and final was in glasgow.liverpool did steal that song from the u.s.musical in the 30:s
No it didn't. celtic only started singing it after the Hillsborough memorial match against Liverpool in the 90s as a mark of respect to the Liverpool fans who died. You didn't sing it at your 1967 final and there's no footage of you singing it in the 60s, 70's or 80s. Stop making up bullshit history. It's Liverpool's anthem. If you don't know why you're not a football fan.
How strange as I used to sing it myself in the Jungle long before the Hillsborough game. The problem with inventing recent history is primary source people are still alive to contradict you.
