  • Two corrections:
    At 8:32 into the video
I said: cuts off the airflow
Correct: cuts off the fuel flow (because of lack of vacuum)
    At 18:21 into the video
I said: the warmer / colder water will be heavier
Correct: the warmer / colder water will be LIGHTER

Thanks Jordan for all the donated parts for our videos!
This is a fairly comprehensive tutorial on how the EHA valves works, the importance of the polarity (connection) and the setscrew adjustment and how they relate to current flow and the importance of calibrating the Fuel Distributor with a known and calibrated EHA Valve.
But, we first explain Briefly my earlier video with the cartoon of Monkey and a horse which we call affectionately Äffle unds Pfärdle in our native Swabian Language

I recently had an issue where my car ran horribly once it warmed up or after the first few minutes of starting. Car would die on acceleration, my mpg plummeted down to about 13 mpg. I ran nearly every test in section 07-0121 for KE as that's what I narrowed it down to. Finally, I unplugged the eha and everything went back to normal. So I then ran the tests steps from 10.0 regarding the eha and everything tested fine. I watch this video and emphasis was put on the polarity of the wiring. I then thought back and remembered I replaced the crumbling connector shortly before the issue occurred, but I replaced several connectors and resoldered fraying terminal pins. I went back out and saw that I indeed had the # 1 and # 1 wires in the incorrect spots. I literally systematically took the whole KE unit apart, swapped out O2 sensors, ECUs, bought a new rubber airflow boot at the fd, re-centered the air deflection plate, replaced the cold start valve, etc, and all I had to do was swap those 2 wires back. Thank you so much! I just put the car back together, and readjusted the air-fuel mixture now everything is back to normal.

I couldn't get the KJ-stop module to work in my vehicle.
All the link is correct but I failed. Do you think it's okay to have the 1989 M102.963 KJ-Stop module?
Although the relay components are correct, it tries to burn LPG and Gasoline at the same time.
I tried 2 EHAs during the test phase, but my guess is that the EHA cannot agree with the Kj-stop and the EHA does not cut the gas.
    My links are correct.

Thank you for this detailed explanation of the EHA. I have odd readings when I test mine.
EHA measured resistance is 19.7 OHM - seems ok.
Ignition on: 74 MA - seems ok.
Engine start/idle: 10 MA. 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0 MA gradually readings within 30 seconds. Then goes back up to 4-5 MA and stays.
Acceleration/Revving to 2500-3000 RPM: 0 MA. Then goes to 4-5 MA.
Deceleration/letting off the gas from 2500-3000 RPM: 0 MA. Then goes to 4-5 MA.
All other sensor have essentially been replaced on this 1990 560 SEL. All vacuum lines, fuel and most ignition parts are replaced.
The car runs flawlessly and accelerates great. Only issue is hard warm start and slight fluttering idle.
I am not sure how to troubleshoot this. Replace the EHA, look in to the ECU or other?
    Thank you! - Kristian

You need to check your fuel pressure as per manual. If fuel pressure drops to fast after shutting warm engine off, then you have either a fuel line leak or your accumulator is broke and results in vapor locking

    • @RockerCPH
      @RockerCPH Před rokem

@@inovahightechltd Thank you for replying. A new accumulator was installed recently and the fuel system keeps pressure after the engine is shut off. The EHA has not been changed by me, but appears to be okay. I do have the 0.4 bar pressure difference between lower and upper FD chamber. I will however check these things again.
I tested my mass airflow potentiometer and do see this having inconsistent readings. I will replace this. Could this potentiometer cause odd signals to the EHA?

    • @inovahightechltd
      @inovahightechltd  Před rokem +1

The EHA when off (0V) supplies the richest mixture.
This could be a vacuum leak in the intake system which exists only when engine is warm due to expansion of parts from heat,
Have someone start the car when engine is warm and watch on how far the airflow plate is going to be moved down by engine vacuum.
If the plate hardly moves because of a lack of vacuum, then you won’t have any fuel flow into the injectors from FD and the engine won’t start.

If I plug in my connector to the EHA valve the cuts straight out and won't start or run until I disconnect it! Any ideas? Car has been stood for years

You need to very carefully readjust the plate rest position and then tweak the mixture control.
I made several videos which are published here on my channel

    Hi
    I have a W124 M103 engine with no O2 Sensor.
Could I ask, does the EHA measure fuel pressure or fuel mixture.
I have a fluttering idle problem. The engine rests at about 500 rpm and has a slight shutter on Idle.
I have a fuel pressure of 5 Bars with valve closed and 5.4 Bars with it open. So I don't wish to interfer with pressure.
I've a new Bosch HT system and replaced all injectors. I conducted tests on most parts including Fuel Pump, fuel pressure regulator, Accumulator, ICV and Vac lines.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Cheers

@@brianalcock if you have fixed / checked everything externally then you may want to proceed to the internals, like chain, chain tensioner, sprocket wear, camshaft and valve wear, carbon deposits and verify that camshaft timing is 100% correct

Does the EHA regulate fuel mixture or fuel pressure? Also, I have seen tests for measuring resistance on the potentiometer but how do you measure voltage.
