- A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician shows you how to replace the Hybrid Battery Fan Filter which will Prolong the life of your hybrid battery.
I say this in every hybrid video I make. This is the most important maintenance item on your Toyota Hybrid. Keep this filter clean and clear and you should have no issues making your Toyota Hybrid battery last a very long time.
2 Possible filter part numbers for this model Prius. Around late 2012-2015 Toyota installed a filter from the Factory. The part no. for that filter is G92DH-47060 I don't recommend this filter as it's hard to install and clean. I recommend you remove it and install G92DH-47010 which is the other filter that fits all models from 2010-2015
This video applies to 3rd Generation Prius 2010 2011 2013 2014 2015

You’re not a car nut. You’re a car guru.
Just 3 days ago, I came across your video about changing oil every 5k and not the 10k. So I subscribed to your channel. Then I found this video and ordered a filter and couldn't believe, how dirty the original filter was. A simple $25 filter just saved me thousands. Thank you for this video!
Your hybrid filter tip worked perfectly for removal. I did not know this filter existed!
Nice to see other believers on CZcams , keep these videos coming as I’m learning much from all ur experience..🙏✅
Thanks for this information, my 2012 Prius didn't have a filter. Going to get one right away.
I like the way you construct auto part's pictures And demos into your videos. This video Sometimes we do not have clear, well lit parts in car fix videos. You earned my subscription!
Thank you, saw other guides that had you take apart the whole back part of the car to get to this, bought the snap on filter and was easily done in less then 5 min, thanks so much
The ratio of likes to dislikes in all your videos just goes to show that if someone throws a stone at you, offer them bread. Thank you for sharing your blessing AMD! 😇🙏
Give the other cheek my brother! May the lord bless you and your family.
I have already made a contribution to your channel be cause of all the blessings you provide to the car s I own and do many many others do as well. Your advice has helped more than a hundred times more than the small gift I offered as thank you. God bless and keep the good news coming.
"Car Care Nut Fan"
Have owned a Prius 2010, and never heard about it until you mentioned it. Thank you!
I can’t believe no Toyota dealership ever recommended me to get this clip on filter for my 2012 Prius ... I just went yesterday to order that part and it was only $17. Now I need to focus on getting that fan cleaned since it’s probably very clogged up. Thank you so much! Your videos are a major help and has saved me lots of $$$.
Where can I find that filter?
@@teenagewastelandmusic4774 Ebay has them for $17 shipped. Toyota part #G92DH-47010 - double check the part number for your exact vehicle.
@@miagi84 I just checked Amazon $30.00!!!!
Hi AMD, I'm OB from Mauritius. I must say you are the best in explaining under the bonnet issue. I've a Toyota Axio Hybrid 2016 model as per seat belt info tag. I'm a mechanic and it helped me to understand the technology. Respect to you. CHEERS. . .
Another great video! Can’t wait to see when you do that Prius prime video god bless 🙏🏼
Thanks for the tech tip about the filter swap! Did it the other day with a slight effort. The side sit piece needed a good yank up to remove and replace the hooked latch. Kind of pulled out the filter with a small screwdriver and hooked pick. Was simple enough to do!
Thank you VERY much! Ordered the part from Amazon, cleanded the area, and installed the new filter. Thank you for saving me $150+, that is what my local toyota dealership wanted to chaege me.
You are awesome car nut! Your quick video saved my bacon - my vent was very clogged with dust and dog hair. I'm a newby prius owner and want to do good O&M, and even my local toyota dealer failed to clean the vent on a recent inspection, even when asked to. WIthin 5 minutes of watching your video, my vent was cleaned. Thank you!
Thank you sir! Didn’t even know my 2011 Prius had a battery filter. I’ll have to check it out soon. Thanks again.
It doesnt, they started installing them in late 2012. Add the clip on one. It is a good idea to clean the ductwork and fan. It will add many, many miles to the life of the battery as I understand it.
Great advice! I got lucky when my son knocked off the fan cover about 50k into my prius C s life. I cleaned the clogged filter and was careful not to block.
Such needed video.Thank you for your time.
Love your videos!
Thank you!! Love the trick to get to the filter
Love your videos….thank you for sharing your experience
You just saved me $356 dollars the dealership was quoting me get this unclogged. THANK YOU! You’re a real MVP.
Thank you! I came here after watching a long video that involved taking the back seat out. So happy to avoid that.
Hybrid battery filter on my 2014 Prius needs to be replaced. Dealership is too expensive. So I did search and found you! Thank you!!!! You got a new subscriber.
I learnt something new from you today.
Great skills. You saved the life
This filter replacement trick is great. Thank-you!
Outstanding! Thank you, Car Swami. 😉
Just upgraded the filter on my 2014 Prius. To remove to old one, it helps a lot to loosen the bottom trim bolt a few turns (not all the way out) before trying to lift. Easy to reach with a 12mm socket and extension. Thanks for all the good information.
Thanks for the EASY filter alternative advise - definitely seems like a better solution. Thank You.!!!
Thank you for all the detail on how to pop off that piece! Very helpful
Soooo helpful thank you
just got prius your`re amazing love to hear scripture
Thank you. We have had our 2013 Prius from new and I was not aware of the battery filter. I have ordered your recommended filter as suggested. We currently have 78k miles on the car and hope to keep it for a long time to come. We have followed the Toyota maintenance schedules religiously and have had only minor issues.
I, too, want to install the external filter but I'm unable to find a source. Please share the address of the vendor of the filters recommend by AMD.
That trick is awesome
I Love you man 👍🏻
Amazing this is really nice to know thank you so much for your advice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! You saved me lots of time. I was going to take the seat out. I just pulled the cover up and leaned it over as you suggested. I did not take the original filter out. The hose to my regular vacuum was to big to fit in. I rigid a narrow wand of about 1 inch X 1/2 inch X 10 inches long. As with all such projects, duct tape may come in handy. I vacuumed it clean and snapped the cover back. I can do this in less than 10 minutes in the future. I love all your videos.
Dude, your videos are fantastic, thanks very much.
I followed your advice and replaced the OEM filter (it was filthy & 90% clogged) and cleaned the fan.
Thank you for what you do.
Thanks, I gave you a thumbs up, as I have been doing for your other ones that I have watched.
Love your channel thanks much
Very useful to know that! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Appreciate it.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching my videos!

Thanks very much for this video! When driving home just now, I got a message saying the battery cooling performance was low. I pulled out this filter, to find it was quite thoroughly clogged. After changing it, the message has not cleared. I am going to take it for one or two more drives, to see if it eventually goes away on its own. I even tried using the method for clearing the maintenance messages, which had worked before when I got a message about the hybrid system (after the engine air filter compartment was not closed properly) , and it worked then.
Having viewed your excellent video I ordered the external filter. My car is a 2013 Plug-in Prius ( UK Spec) the car is low mileage 30k miles. Removal of trim was dead easy following your instructions. Surprise, surprise there was no filter in position. The plenum duct was exceedingly clean, spotless, the rear seats have never been used ,I assume the fans must be relatively clean too. So easily replaced trim and snapped in new filter. The whole exercise took less than 5 minutes. - Many thanks for your videos. !
Simply awesome - thank you! ❤
Just cleaned my battery cooler fan, and saw your video. I had no filter on my vent at all, so I ordered the one you recommended, to put on the outside.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you. This solved all of my car problems.
Fantastic video!
Dear AMD: you are such a fantastic CZcamsr because you really take the time to answer everybody's comment. Wished I had a neighbor like you.
Thank you Dominic!
For 2015 Prius V reach under rear passenger side seat with a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuum any debris from screen. Your done. Don't let things accumulate under the seat that might block fan intake. I discovered this after following the directions from another video that instructed the screen be removed and cleaned. That was much more difficult than was necessary.
Great videos!! Thank you
Thank you for a helpful video .*****
Man you're the best
Incredibly beautiful video very nice explanation
Great video. Thank you for sharing the video..
Thank you for your video, your tip literally saved me by the hours, and so much thanks for the additional tip on outer add-on filter. Thank you so very much!!
That was an easy DIY , thank you!
Just bought the external one for my 2015 Prius, on line from a local Toyota dealer. they had a nice discount from recommended price that knocked it down from 14 to 10. Cheaper than I saw it for on eBay. Thanks for the info. I have no idea if mine has a filter but I guess I'll find out when I get around to checking out the fan. Car has 100k, but I nor previous owner had any pets. We'll see. Edit: No real surprise but the factor filter was filthy!
Straight from a Toyota tech. Thanks.
Thank you very much. God bless you also. 🙏
Thank you. I did not know anything about this filter. The 2010 Prius has NO filter. I now have one on order.
Thank you soooooo much!
Wow!!! Bless You!!!
Found the part number. Thank you.
Great content! Thanks
Thank you for watching Shane. Hope you’re doing well.
Bro I’ve been trying to find this video!
Thank you so much... im now gonna buy Toyota hybrids.
Thanks for your expert opinion and trick which was must needed. it will make changing battery filter a simple process. Also I enjoyed your recommendation on new filter.
Thank you for watching Vinnie
Very nice video.
Thank you brother you saved me some money
Thank You!
Thank you sir! I just picked mine up today for my 2010. It couldn't have been any easier to install. Be well!
How much @ the stealership 😂

Thank you sir.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. God Bless!
Thank you 🙏
thanks a million.
WOW!!!! What a labor saver! My wife is a dog lover, particularly German Shepherds. I didn't even know about the intake filter until I saw your earlier video, and (being okay with a short cut) I used a wooden skewer to pick the dog hair loose (of course there was a mat of dog hair!) and a shop vac at the grill to vacuum it out.
I will order or buy a G92DH-47010 today and vacuum it when I clean the car - a 2014.
Thanks a million! Unfortunately, we can only click on the thumb up once....
You’re very welcome! Thank you for watching!
German Shepherd (X2) here too and this is saving me!
great information! i want to buy that G92DH-40710 filter but the Toyota Dealership only has the offical replacement filter. I even asked for a filter for a 2009 Prius, and they said Toyota doesn't make filters for that model year or prior
where can i find that filter? thanks!
Awsome you are really great, I am a New subscriber because of your really good videos on toyota prius you really explain everything, may the lord bless you all days thank you for your great videos
Thank you
OMG, thank you so much!! I am embarrassed by how filthy my filter was!
Wow great video and Information. I love my 2011 Prius 130K miles. Man i wish that I knew this earlier. Should I access and clean the fan itself, just to be safe. Saw that on Chrises video. Glad that I discovered you. I will Subscribe!
Thank you for watching my video! I think it’s a good idea to clean the fan as well. You won’t need to clean it again after installing a filter as it will catch everything from that point on
Thank you 😎🇺🇸👍
I have a 2015 Prius. It took some effort to pull that filter housing up and away...but I vacuumed it out with my brush attachment. I will be ordering that part online as the dealers closeby did not have that on hand. Thanks
There is a bolt holding it down. That’s why you only pull it slightly out and not out all the way just enough to remove the filter. You can pull the seat bottom out then remove the bolt if you want to completely remove it
Do enjoy the Car Care Nut Channel.with a very good Instructor Tech. One wonders why Toyota did't include the external
Thank you for those great videos! Sadly I couldn't find how to check or clean 2017 Prius+ (7seat) hybrid battery filter.
PTL! thank you brother. I don't have time to order and install a new filter as we're leaving on a trip in the morning. However I was able to reach the older filter (which was really dirty) and vac it clean. Hoping this is ok until we get back in a few days.
You’re good to go if you vacuumed it! Have a safe trip
Thanks for this. Greets from Canada. This video saved me can$ 159 the dealership wanted, likely for the old way you mentioned.
Dealership also wanted can$79 to change two license plate bulbs. WTF ? Make all the light bulb jokes on that.
Thanks
Yes I agree, the external model is a better pet hair screen.
First, thank you for your excellent content! I am now a new subscriber having just purchased a used 2015 Prius 2, and I am looking forward to watching more of your videos.
I plan to check this filter very soon and will be getting the outside clip-on as you recommended. I also plan on visually inspecting the fan motor for cleanliness. My question is once I have gone to the trouble of getting to and possibly removing the fan, would it be wise to just replace the fan? Doesn't fan performance degrade over time? The car is now 7 years old with 90,000 miles. How reliable are the fans and would this be a smart thing to do or would I just be wasting money?
Thanks so much for teaching me about caring for my 2013 Prius. I bought it last NYE and have had no problems, but I had no idea it was so important to clean those filters. Being a 76 year old widow, it means a lot to have someone to turn to that won't steer me wrong.(no pun intended). I'm going to get your recommended filter today if possible. Could you please give me your opinion on the little device being advertised as a trouble-shooter that's called FIXD?
Thank you for watching my video! I don’t have personal experience with FIXD buy a code reader is always a good tool to have on hand.
oh wow, after doing a google search I found Toyota did make a filter for Gen 2 Prius as well
Good grief, it's that easy?! We have two Priuses and I've had these things sitting in the house for months putting off installing them because I thought I had to take it all apart to get that in behind it! Ha! Oh well. Glad I found your video! Thank you, sir!
thank you very much, this video is very informative I went to take out the filter that was supposed to be in the car when I removed the paneling that filter was not there should I be worried? nonetheless I replaced it with the filter that goes outside of the vent and it was a piece of cake to put on once again thank you very much for your video
Hi, I would like to see some content on the 2016 Axio. Like basic maintenance tips and what oils and fluids you recommend to use.
Can you show us how to replace hybrid battery fan filter for 2016 Prius, please? Love your channel, liked and subscribed.
