    I use to carry a regular gas can in the bed of the RZR, but after seeing multiple videos on CZcams of rigs catching fire I won't any more. I will be doing something like you did. Thanks

      Indeed.

      you could always get a metal nato jerry can

    I don't have those mounts on my 2014 1000. I'll have to make something work. I never thought of having extra fuel but, you make valid points.

  • @douggalt
    @douggalt Před 9 lety +1

    These are a great way to carry extra fuel. I have the four gallon tank and found it to be very easy to refuel my quad. The company has excellent customer service! Remember, you can ride or drive in one hour, farther than you can walk in a day.

    I would rather have something and not need it than need it and not have it. Great video.

      Yes indeed - that is exactly my point!

    Thanks again! I went with your exact setup!

    A follow up question for you, if I decide to go with two 2-Gallon cans, will they be so thick they may interfere with a Ryfab cargo box or the soft luggage option you mentioned in the video? I just don't want it to stick out too far into the bed, but I'd like to have that much extra now that I think about it as my buddies I ride with bring nothing.

    I love your videos, and just purchased a 2015 RZR 900 trail. I will install two 1 gallon cans, and two RotopaX Pack Mount's, is that all the hardware I need or do I also need to buy two RotopaX Pack Mount Backing Plates as well?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety +1

    todngo. If you're only mounting two packs that's all you need as the mounts come with that backing plate.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      ATVTVtodngo The 2 gallon packs are too big to mount without raising the mounting plates and then they really block your rearward vision.

    • @todngo
      @todngo Před 9 lety

      ATVTV Thanks for the info, I got the 1 gallons on order, if I need more I'll double stack 'em. I appreciate your input!

    If you mount the fuel packs to the bottom of the bed, right over the exhaust, what happens if your rotopax springs a leak? Your sweet 900 trail may go up in flames. I think having them mounted to the cage where you have them is a much safer placement than in the bed.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      The new 900's don't seem to be melting the beds like the older 800s did, plus I've yet to see a Rotopax pack leak....... But as you say it's better safe than sorry - very sorry ;-) We're going to be showing a quick and simple fire extinguisher mount soon....

    good video doug,if you have any idea"s on mounting rotopax"s to a yamaha wolverine r-spec,please post it.....thanks

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      +dds1130 I have not personally touched a Wolverine so can't really say what I'd do.... The L brackets that Rotopax sells can be bolted to any surface strong enough to hold it.

    how would these do on a jetski ya think? im gonna be putting a rack on the back on mine in the back.. and always nervous bout running outta gas.. not like ya can just walk to the local store for gas on the water... thoughts? i just dont want one thats gonna leak.. or expand in the hott heat of the sun and have issues with it bouncing all ove the place... thoughts here??

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      suncruiser00 They should work just great! I have not seen any of them leak - and that is one of the best things about the Rotopax over the Chinese imitations - these have better threads and better seals.

    LOVE YOU VIDEOS BTW. VERY INFORMATIVE. CAN YOU COMMENT ON HOW YOU HAVE THE SPOT LIGHT WIRED IN?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety +1

      mslezak100 I always install a battery tender and they have that plug on the end for the charger. I typically put that same end on anything I need to plug in and that way it plugs straight in to the battery.

    I was wondering when are you going to make some more videos on the rzr 900 I am really interested in more info on well you like in on trails.

      James rubicon More are coming. High Lifter 2" lift. The SLP clutching with EBS and one-way bearing. Snorkel maybe for the dust. A couple different tire setups. Shocks maybe. All coming but had been waiting on better weather to put in some miles.

    those very neat fuel cans and mounts I'm going to have to buy some for my RZR 900 trail its just like yours. that's a great place to mount them. what's the biggest size tank do you think you could get away with mounting back there. it would be nice if I could mount two 3 gal can on the back. but that might be to big.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety +1

      I think you could mount bigger packs if you offset the mounts. The problem I didn't like was that they blocked too much of my rearward vision.

    Well made and thought out,I haven't found a better system. I'm not in love with the price though.

    Hi Doug! Do they make specific ubolts so you can mount them to the roll cage? Thanks!

      Yes. Check out their website. They should be there.

    Do you feel the gas tanks are sealed sufficiently to mount these packs inside a SUV? Thanks for the great review!

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      +P701 I have not had one of these Rotopax fuel or water packs ever leak a drop! I think the biggest issue is to make sure it is fastened in solid.

    • @IWNTYU

      good question, i think you can still smell the fumes

    • @ATVTVCOM

      And I have 'never' smiled any fumes!

    • @IWNTYU
      @IWNTYU Před 7 lety

      P701 I take that back, I bought 2 tanks of 4 gallons each no fumes come out unless you spill when filling up.

  • @LaklandBadcat
    @LaklandBadcat Před 9 lety +1

    I was just wondering if how those fuel packs vent? Do you smell gas with the packs stored that close to your head? Thanks much

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      LaklandBadcat They are sealed and do not vent so there's no leaking or smell.

    • @LaklandBadcat
      @LaklandBadcat Před 9 lety

      ATVTV perfect thanks!

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      LaklandBadcat That's the great thing about the Rotopax as compared to the 'made overseas brands'. They leak!

    • @LaklandBadcat
      @LaklandBadcat Před 9 lety

      ATVTV would help if they published the dimensions of all the packs. Maybe there is a master list on the site but I didn't see one. I am planning a build like yours but with tool kits and first aid implemented. thanks for the great videos.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      LaklandBadcat No problem. The sizes are there but you have to click on the individual pack to see the dimensions.

    Soooo!When do you actually test the machine it's self?Have been watching for years and now starting to wonder why!

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 9 lety

      Not real sure of your exact question. I assume you mean this particular machine? In this case we did the initial test and then started all our modifications we are doing over the winter months. It will see some action on film when we do the SLP clutching and the tire reviews.

    Great product but like ALL ATV accessories way overpriced. I will be packing my B&S 2 gallon gas cans from Walmart that I paid less than $15 each. You are right, bring something. Another thing that I am packing is a simple fuel siphon pump that you can get for under $5.

  • @conradsenior5843

    These are too small for any extra range.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety

      +Conrad Senior Well, I guess it depends on where you plan to ride. For most rides these are big enough to give you a little emergency range to make it back if you had to modify your route or enough to make it to a gas station on a long multi day ride on the Paiute Trail (the longest trails I've been on). I suppose if you were to go on a really long ride you would want to carry more but where would that be? I suppose there are some more remote places to ride than the Paiute Trail - and wouldn't that be fun!
