I like how you explain both the pros and cons of your sewing projects. I'm with you on all the different 'variations' of fabrics there are out there, many of which we know about verses those we sometimes challenge our skills against. I like that you made lemon-aid from a lemon, so to speak. I think that helps sewer expectations so much when we're honest about experiences as a way to encourage beginners and advance alike not to give up when they come to a bump in the road. Everything made here is lovely!
Learn so much when you share problems that you have when sewing. Thank you. I enjoy your reviews.
Thank you so much for sharing your mistakes with us! For people like me who are new to garment sewing it demonstrates how we can recover from a wrong turn.
This is wonderful!!!!! Awww……. You made a great shell out of your skirt that didn’t work!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!! See …we all learn so much from your experience! Really wish I was a fly on the wall for that one! From a hot air balloon skirt, to serging off fabric, to a blouse with gathered sleeves, to a beautiful shell you can smile about!!! Glad you were able to rescue the serger!!! 💕. Ok, now I must quit watching you and get something accomplished!
You make my day because you are sew authentic!!! And, you make me look forward to sewing. Thank you.
Thanks Linda!😃
Love all your makes and your cheerful and happy mood. Makes me want to get up and sew something. You make any simple pattern special because you appreciate everything you do, I can see that because I have the same attitude for work but when it comes to sewing, I am kind of critical of my myself. I just need to relax and enjoy every small project I am able to finish. Thank you for making me reflect on my approach to sewing. I always enjoy your videos.
Hello friend. I'm so thankful for you! You make me smile. I pray you are well and I love all your creations. Blessings on you.
Aww thank you Melissa! How are you? You are so disciplined with your diet - that is fantastic. I’m feeling well and staying active “motion is lotion” and it’s true! The days I am in the most pain are the days I don’t MOVE.
That Simplicity T-shirt dress has been my go for a few years. I love it with the border. Great sewing month👏👏👏
Oh, I love your videos! I have been literally binge watching! You verbalize all of the sewing mishaps we experience with such grace and humor. I SO wish you were my neighbor, it would be a lot of fun! I appreciate all your reviews.
Love the shell top! What a rescue for that beautiful fabric. Short set was v cute, honestly, I liked everything. July was a good month!
Hello, how are you doing my friend
I love the 8595 border print dress. I go crazy for your color blocking and border print blouses and dresses. Just beautiful. I agree that the wide straps/shoulder really make the dress. It is a timeless classic detail that sets it apart.
You are fun to listen to and watch…Oh how I love your honesty 🤣..love it
My husband made me a clapper out of some scrap maple. I love it!
Hi Lynda
I always love it when you do your makes videos. Thank you for sharing your sewing life with us!
Oh Viv, you thrilled me with all of your beautiful makes and then made me laugh out loud with your very humourous tale of "putting down" your glamorous gathered skirt. I'm glad there was, ultimately, enough material left of that fabulous fabric to make the little shell blouse. The shorts you made for Colin are so cool and most definitely do look like a pair of expensive designer made shorts. Kudos! Loved this video, such a magnificent array of gorgeous garments and such a fun, entertaining time. Thank you for sharing your talent, time, and amusing adorable personality!
The blue shorts and green top. Perfect for these summer hot 🌞 days!! Thanks for showing your makes.
Hello Sonya
As always I enjoyed this video. All lovely makes. I like how you combine certain fabrics together and they turn out nicely. Thanks for the laugh with your party skirt. You had me in tears. But I love that you didn’t give up and turned it into a shell. Thanks again!🥰
A tip for tying a bow that goes straight across rather than crooked: it’s all in the first crossover. Tie your bow (or shoelaces) and notice which way you make the first crossover. Then finish the way you normally would. If the bow ends up crooked, that’s a granny knot, and it will come untied quite easily. Now untie it, and do the first crossover the other way. And finish the way you would normally. It’s a little awkward to get used to it at first, but the bow should come out straight across the shoes or dress. That’s an Ian knot, and actually stays tied! I learned that at 50 years old!
I love your tee shirt dress, I am glad you linked the construction video. Love 🥰 the lavender tie dress. The sleeveless border print dress is so pretty, love the material and I like the wide straps too. So nice for the summer. It is elegant and comfortable looking.
The peasant top dress is gorgeous! You do have such a vision as to what to make with different materials. I would never have thought that the material you used would look so good for your dress. I love your choices when you show us your materials, such beautiful and some fun, bold patterns, and I always look forward to seeing what you will make with them. I am a huge fan, and love your monthly makes videos. 😊💗💕
Hilarious description of getting your fabric caught in your serger. I'm glad I'm not the only one with sewing mishaps.
Here is one of the many reasons I just love you - I have B4812 and have wanted to make it forever. Now I see how cute it is! I also have S8595 and want to make it for just evenings in the house. Again, I get to see it done and I think it's my favorite of the lot. Those Kwik Sew shorts fit you like a dream. It was clearly a good month, brocade bungles not withstanding -
Aw Jen, thanks a mil! I think back to your messages to me looong ago and how much I always loved reading them. You spurred me on to keep at it! Many thanks!! Congrats on your wildly successful channel, too!👏👏
I think that heavy metallic fabric was telling you “I want to be a shell!” It turned out great, too.
Oh, Viv, the skirt story!! If only you had videoed the steps...what a great comedy!! I'm belly laughing!
Great save on the skirt! The shell looks elegant, and we live and learn.
Hello Rhoda
I love you so much because you are honest about your sewing journey. I know people that will show you and tell you of their successes, but not their challenges. You did well. You used your knowledge to use a favorite fabric in a very flattering way. Congratulations! Your top is lovely on you. As usual your other makes are beautiful! Hugs
LOVE! I think my favorite is the flowy dress with the panel at the bottom....so summery and pretty!!
You are just so amazing and love to see you. God Bless you and glad your kitty is doing better. Thank you. I always look to see when you are on.
I absolutely love all the garments this month. The fabrics are fabulous. Interesting learning experience with the stiff fabric and good save!!
I laughed so hard at your skirt/pirate blouse (Seinfeld reference) debacle. Oh could I relate. I just love your makes videos. I love to see what a finished garment looks like on a real person, and you are so real. Keep on doing you.
All those skirt mistakes on the last outfit were very serendipitous, at least to me, because I LOVE it as a sleeveless top with those wonderful culottes! Also, I really liked both other tops a lot!
Hello Linda
All your makes are my favorite! You are awesome VivMom. I love the way you explain your vision for the fabrics and garments…and your straight shooting on the outcome. 💕
Awesome shell. I love how you can turn it around. Live and learn. I learn so much from from you.
Watching your videos over the past several months has inspired me to get some fabric and sew some clothes, which I haven't done in over 40 yrs or so.Looking forward to getting back into sewing. Thank you for your inspiration and I love your shell top!
Yay Lisette!👏👏 I hope you fall in love with sewing all over again.
Love the black floral top with white pin stripe pants but then you showed that red and black dress. 😍
You are so much fun to watch in this video! Your honesty with fails and regrouping or do-overs is fitting for so many viewers but we don’t like to admit it😆 I’ve thrown away a couple of things because I just couldn’t imagine anything else to do with the “mistake”! Thanks for sharing and as always your efforts are appreciated! 💐
Love your metallic top/rescue in your last make. Beautiful simple use of that gorgeous fabric! I also think my other favorite is your sleeveless border print dress. I love how you used the contrast border part for the binding. You look so cute in all of your makes, however. Thanks Viv! 😍👍👍
Omg Viv. I so love you. Gorgeous and beautiful. Love all your makes. So enjoyable to watch. 🌺🌸🌺🌸
Loved the black dress with red border. Men’s shorts, so awesome. It’s so nice to see you.
The shell looks great! 🙂
Hi Nancy
I love the Vogue dress...stunning! I agree with your neckline choice.
Thanks! I enjoyed your show. I'm working on a top for going out tomorrow. I like watching sewing shows while I am sewing. You have a nice day too. Later.
Love you, Viv! Thank you so much for your generosity in making these videos, and your honesty in sharing both the triumphs and the make-it-work-anyway-triumphs. Beautiful work, and so inspiring, as always. I especially liked the first dress and the peasant dress on you, very pretty!
Fun fact, the green dress on the envelope of S8595 is in my daughter's closet - the exact dress that was used for that photo shoot. We always got to shop the samples that Simplicity was selling after their fashion shows at Sew Expo in Puyallup, WA. She loves that dress, it's a great pattern.
Thanks again for the gift of a wonderful makes video. You're such a blessing!
What a cool story, Sherry!! Shopping the samples! I have often wondered what happens to them. And who are the seamstresses toiling away to finish production in time for the photo shoots and pattern rollouts? I would love to interview some of the insiders @ Simplicity as I find it all fascinating.😃
Viv,...Wow I Truly admire your patience with your last make. patience and perseverance! I'm glad you were able to make a shell/top you truly enjoy. I'm not too good with plans going awry. But sewing teaches us that doesn't it? I have a top that is still sitting in my sewing room a month later. Seemed easy enough pattern, Beautiful stretch knit fabric.....and that's where my story went south. it was a bit TOO stretchy and the darn fabric did NOT want to even sew in a strait line! So frustrated my next few makes were cotton...NO STRETCH!! I'd still LOVE to use that fabric though.
Love all your makes ! I am so glad you could salvage some of that beautiful brocade! Yes a sheath dress would have been lovely from it. Oh well. Live and learn😊 My favorite was the black and white border print dress. And the peasant top lengthened to a dress is lovely! Great fabric choice for that one! So enjoy seeing your fabric buys come to life in garments!
Hi Vivmom on one of your videos you showed a blue and white striped dress. I been sending your videos to my daughter. Please keep them coming. I hope your sewing projects goes good for you. It’s a joy to see the men in your life supporting you in all you do 😊loral
Another fun video with my morning tea.
I get inspiration from your fabric selections and pairings. I will look for stretch rayon. 🤔
This afternoon I am having a friend's daughter, 18 yrs old, come over to sew. She has never used a sewing machine. YIKES! This should be interesting. I hope she comes away with an appreciation and maybe an interest in sewing more.
Thanks again for the video. SueB.
Oh my gosh!!! You out did yourself Vivmom!!!! I like everything!!! The fabrics are just beautiful! Tell me...
You must get tons of compliments when you wear your makes! Just beautiful! I even like Colin's shorts! You are right....very Gucci.
Aww thanks Jo Marie! You are so generous!
You are so beautiful and sweet! And very talented! Thank you for letting me learn sewing from you!
Hi Viv, thanks for sharing your fab makes. Particularly loved the elegant black, floral dress which had to be sewn-up by 3 inches at the front. It is so special on you.
Girl you are killing it in that Vogue dress! I totally agree about the neckline...all makes look good and thanks for the cool video❤️
Everything is lovely I think the shell looks great and the sandals are awesome I like watching your videos
Thank you. I love everything about the Butterick tie front with slits!!
The black and red floral is STUNNING on you!!!
I love the last she'll you modeled. Very classy.
Love your makes ; your description of the party skirt so funny 😆🤣🤣🤣
I love all the makes. I look forward to your videoes. You are so special.
All your creations are beautiful; especially love the shorts and summer top ensemble.
Love the white pants and the black and white top looks fantastic 😀
Haven’t sewed for years and was never great at it but I really enjoy seeing your projects. I am inspired to get out the machine and try my had at making some linen tunics with wide leg flown pants. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Great fashion show❣️ Each and every look was a hit. Thanks for sharing.
Love all your makes this month, and am LOL about your adventure with the jacquard or whatever. When you discussed it and planning a skirt, it sounded like a heavy taffeta to me. That kind of thing can work in a box pleated skirt, as I've seen. But knew it would never work in gathers. You had a good laugh I'm sure, at some point over it. The after skirt top looks great. Love the fabric on Colin's shorts. I think I recall you said the other day that the fabric was only $3 or so, so it was a fun experiment. A great Makes Show n Tell. Thanks for sharing.
This video was so fun and your July makes were wonderful... even your brocade shell. Your fabric is so beautiful and your clothing fits you so well. I really like Colin's shorts too, very cool.
I loved all your outfits. You make sewing fun. The first dress material is very cute on you
beautiful!Im glad you were able to save that beautiful fabric!
Hello Jeanne
Hi Viv I love that jacquard shell and Capri outfit And those unique shorts for your son, those are cool. Love the fabric!
WOW! Great save with the shell! You look marvelous! Rock on.
Love all your makes! You get an A+ for reinventing your skirt challenge! Have a Blessed day❤
Great save on the brocade tank. Luv those colors. Also loved the new look red and black leaf print dress on you.
Oh I love what you make and today you made my day. Crying laughing at the skirt/top fiasco. Bloody hilarious.
I love people who laugh!!!👏👏Thank you, Amanda!
Thank you thank you vivmom for the fashion show love this type of format. All of your makes wasssss just lovely.
Thanks for sharing. I have loads of fabric in bins to be used. Thanks for sharing.
I love your show and tell.
Great makes. I love your fabric choices. Thanks. Keep well 😊
Wonderful makes! Love your style and that you share your makes. Thank you!
I am on a 2 week motorcycle trip with my husband and 5 others from Ky to Glacier in MT, through Utah, CO and back home this next Saturday. Thank have been waiting patiently for this video and it did not disappoint. I busted out laughing when you got to the last skirt/now shell. Viv, you are a hoot! I can’t wait to get back home and sew! Collins shirts are so cool!!! Very designer like.👍🏻
Some lovely fabrics (esp love the border print with texture) and patterns. I'm finding out the simple pull over dresses are so cool for Summer. Cute short sets. I may just be cold natured but I think jacket for the gorgeous outfit wud be great when you go into restaurants and other places where they really crank up the AC. Cudnt help but get tickled about that skirt! That fabric just way too heavy.🎈 LoL. Both those patterns wud need lot of drape. Ooh prbly do well for pencil skirt -- it is really pretty fabric. All in all I wud say you had a very productive month. Much more than me!
I love your story of the party skirt serger journey. I laughed outloud. Love your videos.
Thanks Suzanne!😄
Very enjoyable, loved your makes. Please consider in the future to take a few shots modeling your fails along the way to getting to the final garment.
It would have been helpful and perhaps entertaining to see your gathered skirt and blouse with puffy gathered sleeves in your party fabric!! Your final top is beautiful, I’m sure you will enjoy wearing it to dressier events.
Thanks, Viv! Another fabulous fashion show!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I absolutely love when you model your clothes that you sew. You are beautiful and you make your outfits so beautiful. I hope to see more of these in the future. You are an absolute inspiration to me to keep on sewing and creating outfits. God bless

Lovely makes from you again. Thanks so much for sharing 🤗❤️💐
The salvaged top from skirt is a win. Loved all you makes this month. FYI jacarde is a one sided design. Brocades generally are reversables....
I absolutely love the shell made from the skirt!! Paired with the black pants, a million dollar look!!!!!
Hello, how are you doing my friend?
My favorite has to be the border print sleeveless dress. The fabric is so beautiful. But all your makes are lovely. Thanks for sharing!
