Yes Candice is young and beautiful. And so is her mother!
SO gorgeous; both the clothing and the young woman!
The first dress is soooo beautiful, just like Candace
Candace can pull any outfit off. She is beautiful
Candace is a beauty. The dresses are all so nice. The white one w stretched neckline, when Candace folded neckline back on both sides near collar bone it looked like a good solution. A couple purely buttons sewn in at the point of fold right under collarbones under shoulder would make a lovely detail. From Gina
Absolutely beautiful dresses!!! I agree that the one is a dud. The fabric, while beautiful, is just too stuffy and "dowdy" for a girl her age. All the other dresses are winners! I agree with Candace's idea of getting rid of the ripple on the neckline of the white dress. Using a couple of pretty crystal rhinestone buttons or broaches to pull in the neckline straps would be an idea. It would give the dress just the right amount of sparkle. Match it up with some crystal stud earrings. Oh, I wish I had a body like that again!!!! 🥰💖 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm seeing this very late! Your daughter is stunning! She's a perfect model! You both are so lovely!✌🤗😘
Thank you merlin!😄
Yes look at her. Beautiful young women. Elegance and graceful Viv mom the dress with the red flowers would look lovely on you also.
1. First dress, wow, she looks great in that dress and the pockets are a must have for it. 2nd dress, now where as nice as the first.
#3. Her idea is perfect and also a new style feature in the latest styles.
Beautiful dresses on a beautiful girl! I liked all of them but I agree the bustling on the blue was not in the right place. Loved the first and last florals and the white rehearsal dress!!!
The first dress is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL on you. Wear it. Fit like a dream
Beautiful! My advice would be to sew some guipure lace on the neckline. It will add to the bridal look and cover the stretched ripple. I love buying 1 yard of expensive guipure lace from mood then I cut around the patterns and hand stitch them onto necklines💕🌸💕🌸
If you were to cinch the neckline/arm openings in on both sides you could put matching decorative brooches pinned over the stitching or hand sew pearls from the craft section at hobby lobby on the dress. It really looks amazing on Candace.
She looks lovely, what beautiful dresses! She's a lucky girl to have Viv mom sewing for her! Congratulations on your wedding day! 17:10
What a beautiful daughter you have. I think the pink floral and the red floral look so elegant on Candace. I also like the burda strappy dress. 💕💕
Just love to see you guys, you are not just mother and daughter, but friends and it's so much fun, I too like sewing for my girls and "granddaughters" But next time use lightweight interfacing and or staystich for that kind of lightweight "fabric" hope you get going on your dress, and try doing a fitting before you complete, this way you can make your "adjustments" before you do your "completion" they are all "beautiful" congratulations on your ''daughter'' wedding, may they have a ''long" and "wonderful' life together!💞🥂🍾
For the blue dress I would remove the sleeves and add ties to the shoulders and I think that would fix all of the issues with it xx the white dress with the roses is just gorgeous xx
All the dresses look lovely! Really liked the two white dresses. However, the first dress by far was the most flattering and looked to fit the best of all.
Hi Viv, I have a sewing business and do a lot of wedding alterations. With a ripple problem like this I hand sew a longer basting stitch on the inside quite close to the edge neck edge, (I usually start at one shoulder seam and baste down and around to the other shoulder) then I carefully pull the thread. This causes the neckline to kind of adhere to the body and will usually take care of ripples like this. I use either thread doubled or a heavier buttonhole thread so it won't break while she's wearing it. You won't have to pull up the thread very much to get this ripple to disappear. I have used this method many times and most of the time it works like a charm.
The way your daughter held her neck for the rehearsal dress was cute. I would see a couple of small pleats by hand wear she had her hands then I would put some beautiful glam buttons or brooches and place them over the place you mended. I think it would bring attention to her beautiful face. I would also loose the sash and get a belt to match the glam buttons. I'm just giving suggestions. That is just what I would do because it is a beautiful dress and it would make it look like a rehearsal dinner dress. Everything you make is beautiful.
Wow that first dress is gorgeous. Love the fabric. Oh. Dress 2 is also gorgeous. She is a great model!!! Oh wow. Dress 3 is beautiful- putting the ties by the shoulders would look nice
Viv , candace looks georgeous in every dress and design. Takes after mom ! Congrats on upcoming wedding. I agree with both suggestions to fix white dress neckline ripples. Aside from removing facing if it has one and easing in the stretched ripples i cant think of another solution. I know you will work it out you sew beautifully. Ive really enjoyed watching your sewing growth and the way you challenge yourself. Im 70yrs old have sewn since i was 13 sewing all my own clothes through out school and beyond , and never would sew a vogue pattern and hated sewing knits long story. Keep those videos and fashion shows coming . They determine what i will sew these days REALLY. You inspire me , your such a Blessing !
Beautiful dresses on a beautiful young lady
I have made New Look 6774 25 years ago. Back then I used a heavy weight poly print.
Lined the bodice, & received so many compliments from this dress.
The last dress S 8874 in that bold red/ white print is fabulous.
Your print placement is perfect. Congratulations on your daughters nuptials ! ❤️
The Simplicity midi print is a gorgeous fit for her; that square neckline and shoulders are just laying in and moving in place, none of the problems of that previous dress, and again, you are doing a knockout job with those print fabrics, just a beautiful, feminine, custom-looking fit just for her. She does NOT look "dowdy" in this one!
I think for the ripples on your white dress the first thing I would try which is simple and will not harm or change anything except to hopefully lay the neckline down is to with a needle, a nice small needle and a very light matching single thread stitch a little basting line on the facing right near the edge and just very slightly pull it. Not to gather but to just ease in the fullness.
This is the way bridal alterations are done to pull in the neckline to hug the body. Working on fixing a ready to wear faux wrap dress that also did not have any stabilizing on the bias seam. Try it before you gather the shoulder seams.
I like the above suggestion, you could also use elastic thread if a plain thread does not work. For elastic thread, do not take stitches, just go into the neckline between the face fabric and lining and once around anchor the other end.
I do like the red and white dress--fits so well, and I like Candace in color and red always shows so well in photography--all white?--not so much. Very fancy for a shower dress. I like what you did with the alterations --the pattern was dowdy, but the dress fabulous!
All are beautiful! Candace is more beautiful.. she will be a lovely bride.
Viv, your skills as a seamstress have become so professional. Your daughter is beautiful and charming, and the dresses look wonderful on her! (I am not sure which is my favorite.) The first one would make a wonderful going-away dress. It was so very kind of your daughter to model and share with us--Thank you!
Oh, heavens, you must have some very formal plans for he rehearsal dinner--I love all your dresses and Candace has a wonderful figure, so looked stunnin in them all. What a lucky daughter and mom!
I love that you placed the red rose in the middle of the chest, centering the pattern of the fabric. It’s just very pretty the Colors work on her, the red and white.🥰
I love all but the red and white takes the cake! No getting the white for rehearsal dinner trend. I never wear white. Guess I’m not careful enough to keep it clean. Love the pink one too! Great job Viv, and gorgeous model!
All are just lovely, Candace is a beautify model!
Hey---I think you might be able to fix the white dress by taking in some of the fullness at the top of the princess seams. Also, if you put bows on the neckline I think you should have a different belt----it would be just too many bows and would take away from the elegance of the dress. I really like the blue dress but it does look a little bit "grandma." I think if you shortened it to maybe just below the knees and ruched (sp?) the sleeves it would "young" it up. Also, think about the accessories you will be wearing with it---it definitely needs dark blue/cobalt blue shoes---that will bring out the fabric color so much! Love all the dresses!
Well done! I think adding a little gathering on the white dress and little ties would be perfect.
Thank you for so generously sharing your Family Event with us. Fabulous dresses. Beautiful Bride-to-Be.
The rehearsal dress reminds me of “Old Hollywood “!!! Have you thought of securing the tucks Candace demonstrated with beautiful rhinestone buttons? It would definitely fit the style of the dress!!! And sewing them on below the shoulder seam where Candace had placed her fingers would be perfect!! Very bridal looking!!! You both are gorgeous women!!! Blessings on both of you!!!!
All the dresses are so beautiful.
Fix the white dress by gathering them in and then covering them with rhinestone ribbon.
Congratulations
Georgous dresses!!! Vic you should have the queen of fit Joy look at the white dresses neckline….
If she can’t help I don’t know who else could!
Beautiful dresses
They all look amazing even the jaqaurd
I don't even mind it if sleeves were slightly slightly slimmer and maybe a different fabric and lengthen the bodice but it is too conservative
I wonder if the ripples are because of the slight stretch
The bridal shower dress is perfect 🥰 love it the square neckline
It is perfect on Candace fits perfectly
What about making that pattern or a new pattern in with the square neckline and the back square in white the neckline is sexy and suits her so well
The shower dress is perfect looks expensive and classy love the fabric
You are doing a beautiful job Viv
I can tell you are enjoying the process
You have done a amazing job
Happy sewing Can't wait to see more
Take care and God bless you both
I am sure that
Continuation comment, zipppers in pants. You sew beautifully Viv. I stopped watching videos for awhile so I have alot to catch up on
So happy it was so magical for you, and I'm sure your glad it's over with. Now give it a couple years and you'll be sewing for a grandchild and then the FUN begins.
Candice just lit up in the shower dress! It is stunning! The whit dress is beautiful. I think Candice's solution to the gaping is good. Maybe secure the gathers near the shoulders with strips of the belt fabric. Well done Vivmom!
Such beautiful dresses for such a beautiful young lady.
Love that floral dress on Vandace
Beautiful dresses, beautiful Daughter, beautiful Mom. All the best for the big day.
The last dress is gorgeous.
Beautiful dresses and Candice is the perforce to model.
I like Candice’s solution for the ripple best.
All of the dresses are beautiful. The "dud" dress I also very pretty but it did look matronly. I think if it was a sleeveless dress it would have a younger vibe. It's too bad the neckline stretched out on the white dress but as with some other suggestions you have received just adding a bar of fabric, pretty buttons or clips it will solve the problem easily and be a lovely design feature. Great job, beautiful model! !
Maybe you could use jewelry on the neckline issue. Two matching brooches to keep in line
All the dresses are just gorgeous! The white satin is perfect, the gathering of the straps would work, put 2 little brooches there, something sparkly, perhaps Swarovski crystals?
When your daughter is holding the fabric together and somewhat making small pleats along the neckline, it looks great. I can see it with two small gold bar pins holding the fabric. All the dresses look beautiful. Your daughter is very lucky to have a mom that sews so well. Good luck with your dress.
love this idea..gold and white so elegant together
Bows or ties would also be cute on the gathers.
I second matching brooches.
I like the bar idea also, but I think silver with diamonds would set it off
Viv, your daughter is adorable. Full of personality and so articulate! A mini YOU! You have raised a darling young woman. Your sewing for her is gorgeous! Can’t wait until you show us your wedding attire! I can hear and see your enthusiasm for this wedding. I have been the mother of the bride and I can tell you, the memories you will be making are so very special. Your viewers will need pictures please!!! Continued good luck on the showers, the rehearsal dinner and of course the wedding!👍
I like the idea your daughter has about fixing the neckline. Pinching the sides the way she shows really looks good . All the dresses you made look great, but I see what you mean about that blue one. The color washes her out and you are right , the style just doesn’t flatter her beautiful figure. Great video. Thank you 👏🏼
Love the all 3 but the 3rd one makes you look older. Someone in their 50's could pull it off.
I like the gathers/tucks and a band of fabric or as someone else suggested gold bars if you can find them. I’m not sure I would do bows with the waist bow that might be over the top. Beautiful dresses, beautiful daughter, & beautiful mom for being so generous with her time!
I have a few flamenco costumes that have the rippling gaping thing happen and how they fixed it was stitching ribbon on the inside of the neckline and the back so all the way around the top and then putting in a drawstring through and tie at the back with a cotton embroidery thread, that tucks in. it works great and solves my problem🥰
All the dresses are beautiful!!! The blue one is just not the right fabric or color for her. Gorgeous mother and daughter. What beautiful memories she will
always have…
As always, your video and sewing pieces are great. Love the first dress. I have the same pattern. Your daughter is beautiful just like you.
Your daughter is gorgeous! All the dresses look fabulous on her. She reminds me of Kiera Knightly!
Viv those dresses are beautiful. You did a super job. Your daughter is beautiful and all the dresses look great on her. I can't pick a favorite. She modeled them off perfect. I can't wait to see your dress fir mother of the bride.
Good job! Candace will make a beautiful bride. For the rehearsal dress, maybe some shirring or rouching where Candance was holding or a little below. Would flatten the neckline and open it up a little. A great 50's look.
Last dress was beautiful, your daughter has those beautiful model shoulders like you.
Aw shucks, thanks Bonnie!
I loved this dress soooo much I had to come and sneak another peek at how beautiful Candace looked in it and the beautiful fabric. IT WAS NO LESS THAN STUNNING!!!!!!
Awww!! Thanks so much!
Viv, Candace is beautiful (apple…tree, of course she is!). The chosen rehearsal dinner dress is gorgeous and I actually l o v e the idea of cinching it in with either a loop of same fabric or possibly a few rows of tiny pearls. The cinching would, imo, give the dress more a sense of custom made than it already has. You knocked it out of the park with every single make. The last dress, the one you referred to as a dud, actually is a lovely dress made of gorgeous fabric ( you have such an eye for fabrics, Viv) but it’s not for Candace. Dowdy on her, yes, but on someone else, it could be lovely. I would try a consignment store before donating it to Goodwill. The Consignment stores have very nice formal/evening wear sections that my be a nice fit for this dress. Lastly, I must comment on the square neckline, poppy print dress. It knocked my socks of in every way: Perfect fabric choice for a great pattern; sewn expertly for a perfect fit; the neckline is an A+ both in construction and the silhouette! Ladies…I can’t wait to see photos of these events! I hope Viv shares!
I enjoy your presentations the way you describe your likes and your details of how you felt the project went and critique you pattern choices. I am learning so much detail on do' s and don't
Hi Vivmom,
I love that you are publishing your wedding sewing journey. It's exactly what I hoped you would do this year.
Having sewn for weddings for many years (flower girls, mother of the bride, maids of honor, ring bearer), my advice regarding the beautiful white satin rehearsal dinner dress is to take the bodice apart, re-cut the front and sew it back together. I recommend using the utmost care to stabilize the v-neck by stay-stitching and adding a very thin underlining layer. Press ever so gently. Even if you do not have any additional white satin, I still highly encourage you to unpick and reshape the bodice of that stunning dress. You will be very pleased if you do.
Also, the armholes are gaping. Correcting that problem by taking in a tiny amount in the front shoulder seams, princess seams, and front underarm seams will help the front bodice lay flat.
Lastly, if you really do not want to deconstruct the bodice you might consider applying a subtle trim to smooth out and stabilize the v-neck.
This advice comes from many years of tackling such situations.
Very sincerely,
J
JM, I can tell by yr response you're NOT a seamstress but a HAUTE COUTURIER. 👗
@@victoriah.2083I wish that were true and I hope I didn't sound critical. I just love sewing and beautiful results are so rewarding 😊.
@@janematthews6579
Oh, no...I hope I didn't sound sarcastic or critical. I also sew a bit. Haven't in awhile but can wrangle a thimble or two. So I know an experienced "dressmaker" when I hear it.
I think your critique was spot on. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and guidance, and for responding. Like my Mother used to say, "Don't be sewing on that at NIGHT because you're going to rip it out tomorrow and start all over." She was right 9 times outta 8. Lol.♥️
I totally agree with u and was just going to suggest that but saw your post. She said the bodice was lined but I think it still needs some interfacing or some kind of stabilizer. I also wonder when she cut the neck deeper if it's not to wide and allowing that gap as Candice is a bit chesty. I think if she recuts that front bodice piece and narrow the V and stabilize it, it will be fine. I think the idea of darts or gathers as some have suggested would kill the look in my opinion.
@@sewforlife5728 Hi, thanks for your comment. I think the design is classic and elegant and fully deserves the best execution. (It definitely has a Marilyn Monroe vibe.)
J
Viv,,, OMG Candace is beautiful,,,, she looks alot like Brad,, but she has your eyes! In your words "oh to be young and beautiful again "
Viv, Candice is a great model! The white dress is prefect for the rehearsal dinner. Her idea of gathering the neckline would work beautifully. The dud was on point. She used the word dowdy and I think she was right. Don't know why the style and the fabric should have worked for her, but it just wasn't young enough looking on her. It should be beautiful on someone else. The last dress is wonderful on her. You are so fortunate to have her to make clothes for anytime. You both enjoy this special time together. Can't wait to see what you are wearing. Hugs
Gorgeous dinner rehearsal dress. Swisher, fabric great. And alternating the neckline, or even lovely PINS to decorate the pulling up that you are showing...
Candice great idea. And Viv you are beautiful. I would tack down the fabric and see if you can find something sparkle. Even antique shoe clips
Brides! How fun! Yes,to do the idea Candace had, AND elastic along the inside or sometimes steam with all that will help too. I can see bows holding it, then she gets the ribbons on the sleeves…..good luck!
Just beautiful dresses, especially the first and last. Beautifully made and modelled!
Greta job on all the dresses love the red oneit must be giving you so much pleasure to do this for her
Love the red floral shower dress!!! The white dress could be alteted by pulling the neckline gape to the shoulders, and securing with 2 small rhinestone barettes for hair....it would be elegant!
All the dresses are beautiful and Candace is gorgeous in them! On the neckline. Gather the area joy pinched back and buy those pretty rhinestone pins and put over the gathers. Like a narrow rectangular shape. Subtle but just a little bling bling. 😊❤️
Candace is a lovely girl, just like her momma. She will be a beautiful bride.
Dress #3, your idea of small bows above bust would go with that very nicely and would look like was made in the pattern.
Dress #4, don’t like the way it’s made and doesn’t fit her in general. Nope, not for her.
Last dress, beautiful! You did a great job, as usual. Hugs. Have a great time at your wedding.
Nice to finally see Candace, you talk about her all the time.
Such lovely dresses! Lucky Candace.
With a figure of both of you it’s easy to look good.I love all the dresses, when you do a V- neck dress or blouse,it is always the safest to run a stay stick around the neck,if it’s larger then you want, ease pull the tread slightly and iron it flat, that will help not to pucker.
ilove the dresses this is so sweet seeing her try on dresses her mom made for her
I like the idea of two fabric loops or ties up close to the shoulder. It looked cute when Candace pulled that together. My take
I saw a suggestion to fix the neckline. It is to use elastic next to the seam intern the dress and liner. If you are worried about it being seen through the white fabric, you could use elastic cord rather than a traditional elastic braid.
I like the first dress too. The dress with the ripple neckline, I think there should be a big bow in the back. Candance reminds me of Rachel mcAdams
My favorites are the first & last dresses. You are beautiful when you model your makes and your daughter is stunning. She is a novice version of you. Great DNA lol
That New Look jacquard dress is gorgeous material. Princess seams. Very flattering.. I love it, Viv.
Those 2 florals are fantastic
The third dress will be beautiful for the rehearsal. You may fix the gaping by doing a small hand stitch on the inside just next to the facing seam with a double thread and then pulling it ever so slightly to pull in the stretched neckline
what a beautiful girl. Anything would look nice on her.
I love seeing your creations! You might want to check with Joy Bernhardt-
she has mentioned a product that she recommends for keeping necklines, bra straps, etc. in place. I can’t remember the name of it … but I think it is a product for keeping compression socks in place.
I love love the white one, with the fuller skirt and the V neck. I agree with Candace // do the ties on the straps. That would just make it !!
ALLLL are beautiful, but that red and white dress is kick ass on candence. I have a new daughter-in-law and in a roundabout way she says she wants to learn how to sew this may be an undertaking for me that might be too much but I am thrilled and also she is or has presented me with a beautiful granddaughter so song for the granddaughter and maybe teaching the daughter-in-law so might be fun ask me a year or two it might be thrilling to be able to teach you to sew I had two boys and when they were little I sold outfits for them mainly pants shorts t-shirts but I never learned to put
Congrats Bonnie! Thanks for all your recent great messages!😄
I LOVE the first dress! It is beautiful and It looks absolutely fantastic on her! The blue dress that you will donate looks beautiful, but is rather matronly for your daughter. The last dress with the red flowers is really pretty, too. They all look great on her.
For the bridal rehearsal dinner could you add some bridal trim, you know like a delicate tulle with pearls or crystals around the neckline to disguise edge. Candice is as adorable as you are Viv 🥰
Good idea with the tulle, which is nearly weightless. And baste first by hand with long stitches, just in case it needs to come off...
Vic, rhinestones clips where Candace pulled it back👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
All of those dresses are gorgeous.
Love them all. I do think the dress you really like is the one. Candace had the perfect solution.
Hi both, exciting times, I loved the dresses 👏👏👏👏 the white one, I was thinking add appliques of lace and pearls or diamontes but delicate light weight ones or tule beaded strips again very lightweight but the excess of the neckline will be hidden underneath. Or just below the shoulder a loop of fabric pulling the the strap area together that should take the excess away 🤗🤗🤗 xx
All of the dresses are gorgeous. Beautiful job!!!
I guess I need to proofread my comments better, but you get the drift. I loved the first dress in particular; she looked so good in it, loved the style, and loved Cancace in that dress, as had color and looked so comfortable.
Nice wardrobe of dresses that you made for Candice I think she could ware any of the dresses to a party or a special occasion and not feel out of place
I absolutely love the first and last dress. The white dress, I do think the suggestion Candace made about maybe a tie around the top of the arm hole is a good idea. I thought all the dresses were gorgeous and Candace is going to be a beautiful bride 🥰❤
So adorable, that is getting to be a popular pattern. I think I would get rid of the belt and put small thin ties at the shoulders . She's so adorable, nice work momma
