Flipping 700+ pages to get to THE singular female character was an amazing visual gag
After three seconds it clicked and I laughed so hard 😂😂😂
I think I am stupid why is This funny 😅
I had thought they were going to say "oh, she doesn't have any dialogue she's a mute from planet seventies"
@@edwardlane1255 She's sexy, hot and all, so I think your assumption wouldn't be too far off, she would have very few lines 😂
So funny!!
There’s so much to enjoy here…the lighting, the crisp white shirt, the regional accent discrimination, and the fact that the female character doesn’t appear until page 705. Love it! (Side note: can’t believe there isn’t a Eurovision sketch in your back catalogue…too soon?!)
I share your bemusement at the lack of FAH Eurovision content.
You can't make comedy out of comedy...
@@foilarmsandhog and here I was thinking you just know you could never top Father Ted's take.
@@foilarmsandhog If anyone can, FAH* can, but we'll accept that for now! 👍

Had me laughing out loud at the female character part but "Latino" really was the cherry on top.

The only mistake of the sketch, it should have been "Latina".
@@GeomancerHT to me, them getting that wrong added to the joke.
@@tyrant-den884 I just thanked they didn't went with latinx :D

As a linguistics major, I feel like there's a thesis to be written on this sketch. Also, the *cackle* I let out when they were looking for the female character, well done lads. ❤
As a fellow linguist I've given presentations on this very topic 😂
They absolutely nailed it!😂
I’d like to contribute to this thesis.
As another linguist, I would like to be the "et al." in such a paper. I can contribute an accent that is underused, but will either evoke hints of depraved royalty or trigger "say 'Hasta a vista, baby'" -- Austrian. XD
@@Nebufelis I do love the story about how Schwarzenegger wasn't allowed to dub his own lines for the German dub of the Terminator films, bc to an German audience, the Austrian accent would make him sound like a farmer 😂
This is just an excuse for you guys to show off your fabulous accent skills 😂
And we’re loving it! 😆
Soooo much 🤣

I loved the "Northern English" accent. Went through at least three in the course of that single sentence.
Yeah, its a broad spectrum, best to keep it vague
@@foilarmsandhogperfect for a US film depiction of N English accent: is it Lancashire, is it Yorkshire, is it Geordie, is it Cumbria, is it Mancunian, is it Scouse, is it the N, E, S, W subsets of those accents? The mystery is part of the genius.

The rings of power writers are a particularly strong example of "mud-pies = irish"
Lol 😂 that popped up in my mind too
Agreed! Love the show, but the accent choices suck at times.
That's what you get with really bad fanfics (they do not even have the rights to the material on the second age). Although fanfic would be stretching it, any fanfic put together of during the second age could be 100% more accurate with even a little research. The Harfoot hobbits did not exist yet, and that's just one of a plethora of contrivances concocted by the RoP writers.
@@andrewspears8891 while I don't particularly love the show, it made sense to change the chronological order of things. In the official storyline, most things happened many years apart. It would make for a boring show to only focus on one people/event.
@TinySpyro They crunched thousands of years into a few days... From an elvish perspective, that might as well be in the blink of an eye. Honestly, it would be vastly better (with show runners that could actually follow Tolkien's work accurately) to have things happening on the original timeline and done from the perspective of longer lived people. I think they also rushed the plot and raced to get to Sauron, the rings (which they aren't doing in the right order), and Morder rather than a slower multiple season build-up. Ultimately, I personally think that with what they could possibly have done a better job, or at least not getting far less backlash by doing something somewhere where Tolkien didn't flesh out in great detail, such as the far East.
The fact you guys made the arms dealer South African is so funny as a South African 😂😂
Good job FAH !!
It's funny cause it's true.
Executive Outcomes 😂
I love that you're showing solidarity with the writers on strike in the US by your use of blank 'scripts'. Sends a powerful message.
Saves paper as well.
Also a great control against script leaks. Don't want people knowing about that female character too soon.
@@KevinWebb yes! A script you can only read whilst wearing some special glasses. Takes it a step beyond the bright red scripts the big productions use now.
Gorgeous lighting. I love the end of the day feel. It's very impressive to make "three writers sit in an office space" look so attractive, and a testament to your production standards that you bothered to do so.
If you want to eliminate that reflection of the monitor over Arms' shoulder, do you have any yellow/amber gels knocking around? You'll need to hinge it so you can still set up the shot 😉 But once you're happy with lighting etc, put the gel on and that should dull the reflection a bit whilst letting you keep an eye on the composition.
(Or just nudge it to the left slightly so it's blocked by Arms. Also an option.)
Hah just foil having fun!
"What's he done to the hyperspace drive" to the Northern Irish accent, had to pause and collect myself after that one🤣

As a German, I laughed hard at the (presumably) last joke and the one that followed after. Also: flipping through the pages for the female role was comedy gold.
@@clotshot9459 i've reread this multiple times, and it seems as though you've left some key word out of your sentence, which would have both clarified your meaning and made your sentence grammatically correct. what were you trying to say?
“The elderly?” “Yiddish.” I died. 😂 And so will my Jewish dad with Yiddish grandparents when I show him. 😂
The South African Arms dealer 😂😂😂
“This little baby is all you need to blow your enemy’s fokkin’ head clean off!”
For arms dealers, you have two options, South African or Ex Soviet Bloc/Russian.
The female cast, the baddie switching from German to Middle Eastern.. Just ❤
I was surprised they didn't get into asian or Indian. But maybe that's because their representation is so low in western sci Fi movies that their absence in the sketch alone was the statement on that.

Lads, you rule! Again a subtle critique to today's Holywood blockbusters - one female character on page 705 😂😂😂
I speak english only as a foreign language, but I have to say that on my recent trip to Ireland one of the highlights was when two elderly ladies (>70) from Killarney boarded the train one train station before Cork, and started talking to each other. I enjoyed listening to them, I felt like I was in some movie. 😍 Later I saw them again sitting on a bench in a park, so I casually strolled by them few times just to hear them speak a bit more 😂

This is brilliant, incisive and hella funny. The space biker accent was hit that 'vague European, maybe to the East?' feel just right.
I think the best/worst bit is that we (or just I) have been so conditioned to associate these accents with these archetypes, it legitimately felt wrong to hear a Yorkshire posh King or an Italian space captain.

I don't know what kind of stuff YOU watch, but from the top of my head, I can't remember a single movie or tv show where the female lead has a gay best friend, and even if I am missing a couple, it still wouldn't be enough to classify as a common stereotype in writing.
