Fyi, bit of useless trivia: the voice actor for Android 17 is also doing Tien. He does another character later calls Lord Chilled and let’s just say his vocal range is very impressive

In the original manga, Tien held Cell off for 4 hours giveing Vegeta and Trunks the time they needed to get strong enough to fight Cell. Its shows how much of a beast Tien really is.

Any of the human fighters could have accomplished the same thing if they knew the kikoho. It doesn't show how much of a beast Tien is, it shows how OP the kikoho is as a technique, and also why no one with enough power to matter actually uses it, because it would just end all fights immediately upon use.
Ok, it's been a long time since I read the manga, but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect? Tien held off Cell for a few moments, but nowhere close four hours. Still a really impressive performance, and an excellent showcase of the Kikoho.

Tenshinhan's third eye normally is not shown blinking because it's the eye of mind he opened when he reached a high spiritual enlightenment, It's based on a buddhist thing.
Some times it closes when he's unconscious or dead tho, but I believe early Dragon Ball showed it blinking too.
Episode 47 easily had some of the best one-liners. And Vegeta is still not humble lol

Funny thing, the fake 17 projection that Cell did was based on an early idea they had about what personality to give 17. They decided not to go with it for... obvious reasons.
DBZ had some _out there_ dialogue back in the day. Remember "mondo cool?"
@SnowyWolborg Oh my bad, I should have said it was based on an early idea **by Team Four Star** about what personality to give 17. "Pretty fly for a white guy" was one of the options they briefly considered. I don't think the dubbing cast considered this voice, they got most of their goofy stuff out in the Saiyan Saga and Namek (like mondo cool). Although "Cat loves food yeah yeah yeah yeah" does come from this season.
When TeamFourStar made these videos they were under the impression that the audience would have already watched/read the original. I remember searching for and watching these on their original website (it was a lot more niche back then), before they had to make the switch to youtube, where it got a lot more attention and traction.
That being said, once this series is done, I think that it may be a good idea for you to maybe start reacting to the original DBZ and maybe even DB, all the way back to the beginnings of the story.
I wish she rewatches these to see the references she missed the first time.

You have a remarkable ability to predict things. It's fun to watch, and I can't help but think "STEPH CAN SEE THE FU-TURE".
48 had one of Tien's finest moments. He really is one of the stronger non-Saiyan characters, and is one of the few opponents to beat Goku in a fair fight that wasn't to the death.
A lot of the mechanical sound effects for 16's fight against Cell are from Mecha anime, like Gundam (I even heard a beam rifle sound in there, along with a Gundam machine gun sound). As a fan of Mecha anime, particularly Gundam, I always have a big smile on my face for that battle.😁 And the Rocket Punch! Classic Mecha attack! I don't know how 18 wasn't impressed by that move! It's so useful, because sometimes, you just have to reach out and *punch* someone!🚀🤜 Also, I love how Imperfect Cell pushed 16's Goku button, causing that epic fight. Sadly, he got away with it.
Cell was spitting some seriously hot lines in episode 47, too. Piccolo: "How many people?!" Cell, smirking: "... *Enough.* 😈" Chills! Seriously! Taka has had some excellent lines, but that one is just *beautiful* for the delivery.
Takahata101is just excellent as Cell, but one of the best lines was a nod to Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. Cell saying "Because, *b!tch,* I *drink people."* Is a call to Alucard on the phone with Integra where, in a back and forth of instilts, he says (yells) *"B!tch, I eat people!"* TFS recycles lines every so often, but they make it work.
The next couple of episodes are going to be *fun.* Looking forward to your predictions.

The Kikoho, proportionate to its user's own power level, is legitimately probably one of the most powerful attacks in the franchise. If it were in the hands of someone like Vegeta or Goku, it'd probably be an easy planet-buster attack. But in Tien's hands, its capable of holding back and even hurting opponents hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of times stronger than him. Definitely worthy of being Tien's signature attack (or at least, his signature move that ISN'T stolen by other characters, like the Solar Flare).
But of course, the obvious downside to its absolutely overwhelming power is that it drains the user's life force to fuel it. When Tien used it against Nappa, it drained the last of his power and killed him. Heck, the only reason Tien survived it against Cell was because he entered the fight with a full tank, and then blasted Cell until he had a drop left.
'Planet buster' doesn't really carry much weight. At power level 18,000, Vegeta destroyed the planet Arlia without breaking a sweat (Anime only), and was prepared to destroy Earth with his Galick Gun (27,000). Freeza destroys Namek while ~60 million. Official power levels stop existing because they're kind of silly, but by the start of the Android saga, everyone should be in the millions. It's honestly surprising they don't accidentally destroy the planet while fighting, and explains why every time someone threatens to aim a beam downward, the cast fears the planet will be destroyed.
Still, you're not wrong about its potency. Although it directly harms the user, its output is insane, and it's not as if the cast avoids using self-damaging moves (Kaioken, looking at you), so it's surprising that the Tri-beam doesn't become ubiquitous like the Solar Flare.
I think the only techniques that even come close to it are Destructo Disc (which is deadlier, but less destructive), and one other we haven't yet seen in this reaction series, so I'll refrain from mentioning its name. Most people who know DBZ though probably know what I'm talking about. I would say Spirit Bomb as well, but the stipulations of that technique's power make its output a bit too circumstantial to label it as inherently one of the strongest.
Android 16 is BADASS. I love cell and Tien too.
I finally got the reference to "protection" and body armor.... never caught it before.
Cell is entirely "bio-mechanical" which if you think about it for more than a second doesn't really mean anything? lol but for all intents and purposes Cell is fleshy and biological inside and out hes like a super evolved bug/human/saiyan/ whoevers DNA makes up his person. So when he absorbs 17 who is part human/part machine he doesn't gain their mechanical parts just the power and the "trigger" to his semi perfect state. Think of it like Cell needing 17 and 18 to unlock his buffed stats; he theoretically could absorb anyone but Dr.Gero engineered him to "Evolve" by absorbing 17 and 18 respectively and unlocking his Perfect state that Gero couldn't create himself.
Theres no explained reason for why Gero made him like this aside for "plot" but theres a few head cannons
-Gero couldn't create Perfect Cell by normal means and in giving him the ability to absorb people; he had the potential to get stronger and considering 17 and 18 are the only biological humans with cybernetic enhancements that could give him even more strength.
-Gero perhaps made Cell as a way of neutralizing 17 and 18 incase they disobeyed his orders again, his finest work could grow even more amazing while also taking out 17 and 18 incase they would prove to hurt him.
-Gero could have not created Cell himself personally and left the job to his super computer who created Cell instead while he focused on other projects.
The manga's editor was a bitch to Toriyama when he was writing the android saga, complaining that each villain that would appear was not interesting or flawed in some way so all of this became a bit convoluted.
From what i recall there literally is no interaction between trunks and vegeta in the chamber in the show
The next two episodes are peak prince. Also I won't spoil Cell absorbing Yamcha to reach his final form.

Fun fact, while Androids 17 and 18 are actually cyborgs not androids, 16 IS an actual android, no biological parts at all, purely mechanical.

So, I think you have a couple of missconceptions about cell
He's an android already, he doesn't have infinite energy like 18 or 17, but he's still an android
He's specifically a biological android, he's made of cells (duh).
17 and 18 are cyborgs, they just call them androids, so they are mostly humans with machine upgrades.
Then there's 16, who's a real android, he wasn't a human before, he just looks like one.
Maybe you already understood all this, i'm just saying cause you kept saying that cell was half android after absorbing 17, which he already was
Eh no, Cell is completely biological, in no way is he an android except what he absorbs from 17 and 18

Some games call him "bio android" too, as he's organical.
He's not an android, none of them are androids except Android 16 as he pointed out in this episode. They're all cyborgs.

This was so weird for me, because in the german dub i watched back then in the original it was censored, not much by animation but by dialouge.
So this Detanator was a switch to turn them "off" and even my 16 year olf self thought.. "Huh? He still could absorbe them that way"... >_< So not always blame 4Kids for weird censorship ^^

I love steph's reaction to dragon ball z and she can do what she wants but i do wish she had watched the original series before abridged so she could understand the jokes and references what's the differences between facts and jokes cause sometimes there's confusion.
