#GratefulDead #TouchOfGrey #PlayDead - Hudba
Davvy, life has assigned you as my Grateful Dead teacher and how groovy is that. I've been playing Touch Of Grey since the early 90's and it has been really fun to sing and play at parties, bar b ques, gatherings ect. ect. because people know the song. The only hitch is trying to remember that dang bridge in the middle of the song. Always that dreaded bridge. The most fun I've had singing Touch was at a bar in San Francisco during karaoke time when the whole bar went nuts during the song. (Amazing feeling!). Anyway thanks as always man. Your videos bring such joy.
best 21 minutes that this Thursday will provide... keep up the great work
That means a lot, homie!
The great thing about your videos is that you go into the past and history behind the song as well as laying out how to play it perfectly
Best guitar lessons on CZcams, hands down. The lighthearted attitude you bring to each one is priceless. Keep ‘em coming :)
Thanks...caught them live 5 times in the early 80's. Yeah...I'm old.
What an amazing lesson this is? Feel so grateful, Davvy!!!
This really is a beautiful song. Bertha on crack was a great analogy man 😂
Can I just say I'm pretty sure you're the coolest person I don't know. Love your lessons dude man. You make a lot of people happy.
Two people called in sick today so I'm doing everyone else's job too. Your intro with cuss words bleeped out made my day. The lesson was just gravvy, Davvy!
Awesome tutorial! Probably the best song tutorial I have come across!
Hell yes. Thanks davvy!!
Dude very entertaining video . Every one else seems to leave out the coolest part of the chorus thanks for including it
THANK YOU. As usual, another top notch lesson
Great lesson and teaching style
Love the improvised solo - favorite part is right before the 20 min mark. Like how you waited a second to let the chord come back around and had a smooth and bluesy phrase that fit perfectly. Thanks mang!!
Davvy, thanks! Your the best. D
Davvy, just wanted to let you know I appreciate your gracious demeanor, your inspirational motivation, and your wry, understated sense of humor. I came hear to find a note for note explanation of the solo to the song, and I didn't get that, but I did find a strange sense of enlightenment and encouragement, and for that I am eternally grateful sensei.
Thank you for this lesson Davvy
Ain’t no thang!
Always makes me smile hearing you sing out the chord changes 😁
Hey man..... Thank-you
Sup! Thank you!
This is Fun!!!
Thank you for the teaching ..
Ha! This is probably the funniest tutorial I've ever seen. A bit extra, but I like it😂
The best teacher
Love your channel...your lessons are great. And you are one talented dude that keeps us smiling. I just joined on Patreon. I know how much work it takes to put together all of the material you guys do. Please keep the happy luv coming!
edit: What part of the country are you guys in?
I had to switch accounts cause I was using my work one (duh). I was away for a week and come back to THIS! Awesome Davvy! Now the subscribers will roll in and you will soon be in a rocket to space because that's what billionaires do!
Thanks man, been half ass playing or trying to play all these songs for 30 years but i never figured out the little licks that you're showing us. Like that opening lick on candyman, fucking awesome. Love it, thanks and keep it up. I mean if you want to that is but i dig it and thanks for all your effort.
I like your style. I'm going to subscribe, plus give you a thumbs up. Have a blessed day!!!!
Legendary
It's probably not surprising that this is the first Dead song I ever learned to play, but it's kind of surprising as it never did much for me. But then when the Rhino version of Built To Last came out with the '82 studio rehearsal bonus track I LOVED that version and learned to play it. At the time it was also the only Dead song that sounded like something I could actually play, though it took me a while to get that bridge right. It's still the version I like to jam along to, and it's nice because Jerry shouts Bridge before the bridges so you can't miss it. Even if you don't need it, it's fun. Plus the guitars are easier to hear for me in that one.
Dude that lick at 19:43 is mcnasty, melodic soloing at its finest, jerry smiled when you hit that one
BROOOO YEASASSSSSSSS
Really cool lesson, thanks. One nit, in the bridge @ 13:40 should be C# major.
Guys, ***just like this guy did here****, drop your pride and just WATCH THE ACTUAL ARTIST PLAYING THE SONG. (sorry man if you never watched Jerry play it but even more props in that case......) I learned watching the live in Buffalo video. Thx for posting
fu&%ing cool, man. Thank you!
I used to play it at the nut using the B and F# etc but have found it much easier (being as I only play acoustic) capoed at the 2nd fret. But I do a modified lick for the chorus instead of the badass Jerry lick. I always wanted to get that under my fingers tho...(someday, lol). Thx for the lessons
Some touch of grey and robocop today, I’m doing the 80s all over again
Bringing out one of the big boys today!
You bet your well rounded ass!
Thank you for teaching us this good shi
No problem at all, bro!
hilarious intro :)
Love your lessons man. Do you think you could do not fade away
My first shows where in the eighties not because of this song just happened that I got my first bus and DL. But you still get labeled the touchhead.
Pretty effin rad dad
A humble request: Could you do a lesson on either Cosmic Charlie or St. Stephen? I and many others here would be much obliged!
Woooooooooooooo!!!!
Hell yeah!
I don't know Davey. To me it sounds like it's about the morning after a Coke binge.
Love u 😽
Too funny man. The extended bleep was an actual “LOL” situation. Arrested Development homage?
That fucking bear don’t know what hit his ass, I showed him the real meaning of “TouchHead” 🥊 🥊 🐻 💥!!!!
Thanks, Davvy!
Davy @ 17:00 “I gotta do a lesson on this one”
That's a big as fn mixer. This channel has some channels!
what is the mixer on your desk? oh and nice lesson
My mixer/interface is a presonus studiolive ar16 and my amp is a milkman the amp 100 that runs direct into it with a cab simulator.
8-30-70 Easy Wind!
Great Video.
Talking about going to the Ukraine to fight the (Russian) "Bear" became a prophetic statement three years later.....
I'm in the touch of grey video , under the red n white umbrella upfront, look close you'll see me n my homie blacked out because we were smoking opium with a pipe, the only faces in the audience shots blacked out
BRIDGE
Possibly my least favorite dead song, but I best learn it anyway. Davvy, fantastic as always, you get better at this with every video
I got a touch more of gray hair waiting for you to get done talking and start the lesson. Ha!
Dude your channel is funny as fuck
What about Hell in a bucket
A EEE, A EEE , B F#F# B Must be getting early......I was called a touch head when I hit the lot. I was like what does that mean? lol
Lmao. None of it matters
@@TobyDavvy Lol , It doesn't matter for sure, but it was confusing for a New B at the time.
Video oppertunity: Eleanor Rigby jam( in After Midnight)...no one has a video out there.
There is a quick walk down that Jerry plays into the F#
B string 5 4 3
G string 4 3
F#
ist der cool wahnsin

You have it backwards. Not every gray lining has a touch of silver but every silver lining has a touch of gray. It’s about things not going right as get older but you live through it anyway
Bro the bears was asking for it
I saw him staring saucy at your mistress
it was pretty Grizzley
Can you teach terrapin station cause every CZcams video on it blows
It would be helpful to do Bob Weir's guitar part because from available footage on YT, he doesn't play what you and I would recognise as regular chord shapes. I believe Bob has a reputation of playing unfashionable chord shapes way up the neck. Just the intro alone has had me scratching my head because from available footage Bob is playing some strange chord shapes from the 6th fret to the 11th fret.
Honestly, I’m more focused on teaching everyone the basic outline of the tune. Not always gunna teach the specific way they play chords unless it’s absolutely necessary. There’s a guy on CZcams that teaches just bob stuff, maybe check him out.
This one and fu€king Cassidy are the only 2 I could take or leave ,but playing touch really does bring a more positive feel to the song…Not Cassidy !!
Swheat, solo! Playa
Ouch on that solo bro 🤕. The rest was pretty accurate though. So nice job.
They can’t all be winners. Luckily I’m not here to impress anyone.
@@TobyDavvy you sound good though man. I would just work on the timing of you playing over your on part on that solo when your looped. It could be some delay from CZcams as well. You have a good ear I recognize that.
That video is also 2 years old. I’d say go watch my most recent live chill and jam stream or one of our gigs and see what you think.
