    Personally my Top 5 baits have to be : 5 - dog mixers - 4kg for £2 perfect for surface fishing, you can also flavour and change the colour of them. 4 - chick peas - a lot of people don't use them anymore, perfect for using as loose feed and works well on the hair. 3 - sweetcorn - perfect for most species, brilliant for loose feed or on the hook when float fishing. 2 - peperami or spam - brilliant for carp and barbel, use on hair or for spam use straight on the hook. 1 - Bread! - my all time favourite carp bait, use when surface fishing or can use as a slow sinking bait. Caught my personal best at 26.4lb on free lined bread on the first warm day of the year (uk). Caught most of my carp this year on bread, it's cheap and so effective! Nice video guys! Keep up the good work!

    I was staying in Southwark the other night as in London on a course the day after. Took a rod as I'd fancied trying the Thames. Set up by Tate Modern after picking up bacon lardons & some king prawns. It was snaggy & I lost a couple of rigs, but caught an Eel so chuffed I didn't blank. Haven't done much with supermarket baits & should have watched this before going, not when I'd got home. I ate the prawns I didn't use & brought the left over lardons home to cook. Have you ever fished that bit of the Thames? If not, would you?

    It's an odd thing, I have rarely caught on sweetcorn , but Cheese was my go to bait when I lived on the Canal ,always had it on board and big Roach and carp scoffed it, maybe having confidence in your bait affects your catch rate ? Roach to 3 lb Carp to 27 lb but that was 20 yrs ago , rarely fish the Canal since I bought the house, but similar success on small rivers after chub, if the little spinners and plugs are not catching.

    I enjoy these information videos like this, thankyou both. Fish up where I am don't seem to want anything but worms or maggots haven't got a single bite on anything else apart from the deadly twitched spratt, and it's not through want of trying. Are all or some of these good in winter? Water's cold now and weed has gone so most of the fish on the broads are up the dykes and under the boats in the moorings away from energy sapping flow, where they all seem to be the best of friends till spring. The wind has been bitter cold this last week on the Bure and although I am desperate to try these Totally Awesome baits I may stick with what has worked for me for now. Thanks again.

    *i like using cheese for carp, i cut it into slices (or you can get the cut slices from supermarket) then i have a old bit of pipe, like a ring about the size of a 10p i cut small holes in the cheese, like a pastry shape cutte, and hook just thru one side so it sits flat on the bottom*
    *you can melt the cheese in microwave also in a plastic square tub ( Just don't over cook it ) and let it cool then you have a nice flat base to work from and it wont be crumbly if you're using extra extra mature cheese*
    Great channel by the way i watch all your videos :)

    If you add a can of sardines to the list, not only do you get the sardines to use, but a dab of sardine juices on the bread would go a long way and extend all baits.

      No problem matey! Very true about the eels, strong little buggers ain't they?! They always seem to be about the 18" size, somebody caught a salmon last season round here! I know otters aren't liked by all anglers, seen a few, in my mind it shows the rivers in a good healthy condition😊

    Hi Guys,
    I would love to see you use Crab Sticks. If you lay a hook along the red coloured side without hooking through at all and bind using bait elastic nice and gently it holds up brilliantly for ages. I cast it out on a running leger with 2oz weight and left it for 20 mins. Reeled in and held really well with big Crab on board. Def got potential. Ran out of time to test at high tide but for sure it will catch as flakes off very slowly in the sea with loads of scent.
    I reckon its got great potential and at £1 per large frozen pack its easy and cheap.
    Steve in Fife.

      Surimi sticks soaked in a jar of liquidised mussel and razorfish (a seafood smoothie... ) might just work here.

      @stevied8855 Před 7 lety

      Hi Mate,
      Thanks for message. Yes they hold up well if you just bind carefully with elastic. Lay the hook along the red side at the bottom end. Once they are in the water they fan out much like a Bow Tie look to them. Gonna work on it when i get a chance.
      Steve.
