@@beardedthriftmachine thanks buddy, love your stuff. Great score on the vintage clothes.
@rogue nation I'm def not a vintage clothes person but thought I did pretty good
@@beardedthriftmachine your a head of the game man, I'm just trying to catch up. Only been flipping for a few months. My channel is NOT a flipping channel, but we want to start one.
If that is a diamond, you might have scored big! Do not go to a pawn show, go to a jeweler. Make sure you post the results in a future video!
We definitely will - probably after new york we will go to a jeweler and see what they say.
@@beardedthriftmachine Diamonds are really not much right now. Most gold guys will pay you the gold weight of it, or take them out and give them back because they really have trouble selling them unless they are very special.
No pawn I worked in one seven years pm me I sell on e bay wringman will give you small course on jewelry selling
Diamonds 💎 have value. WHAT 😳 FINDS !!!
Wasn't that an awsome find :)
You found the yard sale of the century. Those clothes were a hit! Donna xoxo
Dude! You guys scored! Fun to watch.
Thank you! It was a cool sale
For the yellow staining make a paste of peroxide and baking soda and put it on the yellow stains and then when you wash it put a 1 cup of peroxide in the wash with your detergent
Thank you! 100% will that a try
Epic yard sale Julian and Kayla! We’re all watching and rooting for you both. It’s always best to get a reputable jeweller to appraise before selling especially if 14C gold. ♥️
Thank you!
@@beardedthriftmachine great video as always... if you look at your shadow at 3 mins in you look like darth vader walking up the drive way 😂😂
You're right, that was an epic yard sale. I say it about almost every video, I respect your commitment to studying and learning more about the resale business. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! We are going to go to a jeweler and get them looked at for the experience and see what they say
What an awesome yard sale great finds
Insane right! Esp chasing yard sale signs
Get the rings appraised. I’ve seen rings like many years ago sell on eBay with a copy of the appraisal getting close to or more than actually worth. If you go into a jeweler, they can give you a much lower price, if you are not in the know. Great stuff, guys!!!
thank you! we will def do that
Wow - Great haul at that yard sale. Those starter jackets were a killer find - couldn't believe that he basically charged you $5 for that clothing pile
He actually said free and I was like man I gotten pay ya something
Holy moses...id be shaking at the vintage
So much stuff
Yes, a very epic sale and pick ups! YeeHaw!!!🤠🐾🐾😘
Very cool sale to be apart of
What an epic yard sale indeed. Great finds. All the very best to you both.
Thank you! Esp for one with no sign lol
Take the Drury to the drawer and not a pawn shop
Fun fact for yall since I know yall love Clemson 😜 93 is when the Panthers were created but played first season in 95. All home games were at Clemson. 96 they started playing in Charlotte. Go tigers and go panthers. Yall keep rocking it!
The golf clubs got my immediate attention!
Mine too - some nice ones there
I think if you clean where they really shine poshmark or if you are going into jewelry and put kayla thing in an under glass nicer. resale shop you may do well with jewelry staging it
With small knickknacks to catch the eye or interest.
But get them to really shine and lighting you will do very well. Best of luck
Thank you - 💯 will clean them
Amazing finds in a sale you didn't even know was happening. Happy Thanksgiving!
I feel they are the best ones
Good for you!! I miss your what sold videos
I miss them too - we have our first on the other channel and did another one today 😀
Jewelry, and precious metals is one of my specialties. If you start getting larger amounts, it would be good to get with an actual smelter, because they will pay the best. However in small amounts, you are better off if you can find a local gold scrapper that pays fair prices and build a relationship with them. I just sold some 14k yesterday for $28 per gram. 10k was $18 per gram. I have a very established relationship with my guy, and I really only have small amounts at this point. Most jewelry is going to be best as scrap, even the diamonds are not worth more than the gold generally. If you find designer pieces, Tiffany, Cartier, etc, those can be worth selling individually, but still usually take time.
Excellent info thank you -we have a little box of scrap gold that we might also take in and see what we get.
Still, compare to eBay. You will get more then at the smelter.
@@anitahaviland3036 Sometimes you will, but when you factor in fees, it is usually about the same or less than the smelter. I mean, maybe if you did it as an auction and started it with the fees factored in so that you can't make less than smelter... but you still have the possibility of someone saying a piece wasn't gold and wanting a refund or a return. Generally with scrap it is just easier if you have a relationship with a smelter.
@@beardedthriftmachine I would take it to a few places and get quotes. Some gold buyers will really lowball you.
Get the rings appraised and sell online and make sure the jeweler knows he can't buy or he will try to buy to cheap once you know I worth you can weight options
Thank you :) will do
I keep all the gold and silver and diamond rings I find or necklaces or earrings. Because it's worth more cuz it's savings to us always good to have gold and silver on hand
Yes we do the same - these I'd like to see what they are worth for the experience- then if we need the money we will have it
Great yard sale. Pay to have the rings appraised by a reputable jeweler and not by a pawn shop. You will get a written document. Pawn shops or those who advertise “we buy gold” will typically offer you between 5-10% of the value. Seriously! With a written appraisal, you can sell on EBay or other places. Just realize that the appraisal value is usually based on replacing the exact item if it’s lost or stolen.
Excellent idea we will definitely take it to a jeweler
@@beardedthriftmachine Do not pay someone to have the rings appraised. You will never get anywhere near appraised value. Unless the piece is seriously special, I am talking Tifffany, Cartier, or other major designers, it is just going to be gold value. Find someone you can build a relationship with that will give you a fair price based on the gold value and move on. Looking at the three rings you have there, you probably have about 15-20 grams, so you should expect to get between $450 and $550 for what you have. (It is hard to be specific, because I can't tell how thick the bigger ring is.) Feel free to reach out, I have been doing jewelry and scrap for many years now. I would be glad to give you unbiased information.
@@beardedthriftmachine There’s a charge for a written estimate, so be sure to ask how much first. I hope you get a lot for the jewelry! So much fun watching you two.
Check with jeweler, looks like you have some big money. Live watching you two, your a great team! Carol from Edmonton, Alberta CANADA. WATCH YOU ALL THE TIME
Thank you!! We are going this week to see how much they are worth :)
Wow what an amazing haul, I appreciate you explaining and showing comps, I never go to sleep because thats how I learn. Thank you for putting out another great video. !!
100% the more research the better while yard saling
Awesome haul! That guy never met a team he didn’t like, did he? RE: Rings. I suggest that you find a friendly local, privately owned jewelry shop. Ask the jeweler/jewelry repair person if they would mind looking at some rings you have. When you bring in the rings, watch what the jeweler does and ask questions. This will hopefully get them to give you a mini course on how to inspect and value fine jewelry. They usually start by cleaning the rings. Then they slip them on a ring mandril and show you how to size them, i.e., how to determine what size finger the rings will fit. They will estimate the carat size of the stones, possibly by using a gauge or calipers, and identify the cut, or shape, of the stones and they may show you a chart of different cuts. Then they will look at each stone under a microscope and let you look through the microscope to show you what to look for regarding clarity, flaws, cracks, cut, sparkle, etc. They may put some of their own stones under the microscope to show you for comparison.
It may take some looking around at first to find the right jeweler, but when you do, it can be a great educational experience. Most jewelry shops are in the market for pre-owned, “estate” jewelry, so the jeweler will likely ask what you want for the rings. I would say that you aren’t sure you want to sell them and ask if they are worth having sized, i.e., made to fit you or Kayla. That may get the jeweler to give you an informal estimate of value.
When you have gotten your crash course in evaluating rings, you will be in better shape to compare your rings to other rings that are for sale on line and in local shops and better decide what you want to do with your rings.
If it turns out that the rings aren’t worth much-they are very worn and scratched, the stones aren’t good, the styles are out of fashion, etc.-you can have the stones removed and sell the gold by weight. You can also take the rings apart and have the gold and stones made into something new-new wedding and engagement rings, a gift for your mother, new jewelry for you to sell.
that is excellent info - i hope i find a jeweler that will do that. - might take some looking arounf but i bet there is one around here
The rings you could probably take to a jeweler to get an idea of how much they are worth. I wouldn't recommend a chain jeweler though. I would suggest a small business jeweler. I was almost taken for a ride with my great grandma's diamond ring.
Yea definitely a jeweler I think is the way to go.
That Huskies jacket is amazing!!!
I know right!!! I thought that was the best find of the day
Find a reputable jeweller and ask for an appraisal. I used a jewellers offer ( not appraisal) for a diamond bracelet as the starting bid for it on ebay. Did well I think but I don't know anything about jewelery either.
Yea jewelry is tough and something I want to learn more about
Wow u hit the mother load! God bless stay safe until the next video ❤️ 😍
thank you so much!
I love all of your finds today. I'd stay away from pawn shops.
100% - thinking we will go to a jeweler just to see
For the jewelry I would look at a reputable pawn shop
I had a pocket watch of my grandfather’s. I was told once it was worth nothing.
I took it to a local shop and got $1800 in cash
Very awesome!!!.$1800 is great
Pawn shop as last resort! ☺
Thanks for sharing this great sale! 💞✌
Thank you- seems jeweler is the way to go
What a great haul!!! They rings look like a great find as well, $5 each holy crap think your going to surprised at how much they are worth!! Let us know ❤❤
Can't wait! we will try to figure out this week and put it in a video before Ny
AWSOME video and great finds I really enjoy your content 🎉👍😃🇨🇦❤️
Thank you!!! Crazy yard sale for sure
I like it when you go over the golf clubs. I would never have thought to flip those on Ebay. I like knowing what brands, etc. to look for. Great info! Also, the small knitted framed pictures you picked up the other day. I was like "What is he doing even looking at those?!" Then you threw those sold comps up and I was amazed! Who knew? Now I do ;) Thanks much for the great info! I'm always learning from yours' and Kaya's videos.
Youre welcome - i know alot of people dont want to get into golf clubs
Also pretreat stains with dawn overnight then soak in a 5 gallon bucket of oxyclean for another night and it should clean up most of those stains. Not sure about the felt though. That works mainly for cotton and that wicking material for me. Does great getting fish blood out of clothes and old grease looking stains.
Pawn shop or jeweler is going to lowball you. You can go just for an idea but don’t let it go. Just search your sold comps like you do on the golf clubs and clothes. 14k mean you already have something no matter what the Diamond caret is. What size is the mans btw?
I'll have to check the size - I haven't yet but this week I think we are going to get them looked at just to get an idea
Julian, when my wife gets jewelry, she has a wonderful guy that buys gold, silver and some other jewelry and he always gives her a great deal. If you can find a person you trust in your area its a great thing to have.
Just wow!
I agree - I still remember this one
I have sold a few of the Irish rings. They sell well on ebay 200 to 300. People buy for the dedign, not the scrap weight. I listed with the size and gram weight.
Thank you so much that info!
Very special yard sale! You take some OxyClean powder and make a paste with water and treat those stains, then wash with more OxyClean and most will come out. I found a Coogi sweatshirt at the bins in Greenville SC last week that looked like someone dug a grave in red mud, and it came clean and it is white! Worth it if you can get $10-15 more for a cleaner vintage item. Awesome golf clubs!!
Thanks for the tips! I STILL havent found one of those
we go to a jeweler and get it appraised. They will offer you a price for it or you can mark it up on ebay
I was thinking a jeweler is the best option too
@@beardedthriftmachine There are actually some CZcams channels with some knowledgeable people that will also educate you on what to do in the future with jewelry finds. I've got a few I've recently started following
That was epic !! I know nothing about golf clubs but so happy you do ! Great haul ! Jackets and jerseys were awesome . Scored with the rings . Go to a good small town jeweler. They are happy to help. Good luck !! Be careful in New York . Be safe .
yea 100% be going to a jeweler just to see what they say
Also check a local jewelry store that buys jewelry as well as the pawn shops. If you're just selling for gold/silver look into a local area refinery, you will make more than a pawn shop will give you, just takes a bit more time. They usually have info on their website on refining process.
💯 will thank you
I sell my gold by the gram to a local coin shop that buys gold also. They pay me 92% of spot that day what gold is trading for per ounce so today spot is 1757.10 per ounce so that means your gold is worth 29.33 per gram today hopefully this will give you a starting price point if you choose to sale it on ebay. Great find!!
Thank you it does help
Nice sale, was looking for the Red Sox jerseys on your eBay store, too soon? Saw the Huskie jacket listed. My neighbor is a huge Sox fan.
I have just listed both and I'll give you a way better deal - they need a good cleaning
@@beardedthriftmachine thanks, I'll give a look
I have learned such. Thanks, but I am on golf overload!

Pretty interesting sale!
Very interesting

Thank you!
Pawnshop don’t give you hardly any money for rings in my experience but I live in indiana
Thank you- seems jeweler is the way to go
Do you know any other CZcams pickers? The Commonwealth Picker seems very knowledgeable on clothing. You should check him out.
You know when you have your finishing move at the end. Well I think Kayla needs to have one also. Think about it Julian.
I know Kevin- good guy. 👍
I want the jewelry info too. I have a large collection of 925 that I picked up all summer long and a few other things. Either I go to a jewelry shop or a pawn shop at this point but I'd like better info. I don't want to put them on ebay because I don't want someone to come back claiming it's fake :(
That is 💯 my fear - me selling it and they saying it's fake.
I’ve always done the best with coin shops!
Selling sterling on ebay is usually fine, just list the weight and take good pictures. Generally unless there is something that is very valuable by itself, I will just list everything in a lot with a total weight. People will generally pay close to or just over spot price. For nicer pieces, you can list individually, but it takes time to find the right buyer and in the end a lot of the time you will not get much more than you would have selling it quick for scrap prices. Signed/Designer pieces are different - like Tiffany, Cartier, etc., but the vast majority is really basic.
@@VinnyVidiVintage I sold a set of forks for 200. No problem. Jewelry though is just a different set. Most of what I have is worth more than scrap. I'm sure I'm just going to have to bite the expense and get them appraised. When I'm spending 1-5 on the because people don't check to see if they have 925,10k etc I can't complain too much.
The only office/gaming chair you should ever buy is a Herman Miller Aeron chair. Period. Trust me on this.
I just looked them up - wow - we are kinda cheap I got my chair at a goodwill and this one is pretty good :) but ill be on the lookout if I see one!
@@beardedthriftmachine set up a reminder on Cragislist to email you when they come up. A lot of office supply liquidation places sell them but they want $400. keep looking, I got mine for $150 and missed out on one about 2 months ago because I got to the house late.
Find a jeweler you trust and he/she should let you know what they are worth. They will also let you know how many carats you have in each ring. From the information they give you, you can price accordingly on a web sit. I think if you do some surfing there maybe a site that just sells jewelry. Hope this helps. I know I go talk to my favorite jeweler when I purchase from auctions.
Excellent idea - we are going to find a jeweler this week and see what they say
The clothes was like hit after hit
I know right!!! Insane
I am leery of selling gold jewelry on eBay due to scammers. I have sold some rings and a tennis bracelet to a jeweler. They told me what it retailed for new and offered me 1/3 of that amount. That left them room to sell it at a discount and still make money too.
Yea that makes sense - I'm a little worried about that too
The pawn shop won't give u much for the rings but u can at least get a quote to sell not pawn. Otherwise, see if u can get a value from a jeweler and try and post on ebay. I think u will need a way to authenticate and value to do that anyway. Some of them are what's called diamond chips and not bigger diamonds but if gold price is up you will get more at a pawn shop.
Thank you - I think we will go to a jeweler and see that they say for the knowledge
Good to shoot high... You can always come down if needed. I saw a very distressed shirt with a big hole in the neck, fading Etc. & was shocked it went for 80.00
HEART RING is an Irish Claddagh ring. The top one on eBay solds, I think it is, sold for a discount from $300. There is value in design and sentiment that is lost when you cash in the gold. The hot time for selling it is St. Patrick's Day.
Thank you so much for that info!!
I’d be cautious about pawnshops unless you know of one from someone you trust. I’d just clean the rings, maybe go to a jewlery store and look online for similar rings? No maker on them? Do you have a loupe?
No just stamped 14k on them - but ill definitely be taking them to a jeweler
Pretty much get diddly for the diamonds but the gold is worth taking to someone who buys scrap at a fair price...ask locally, everyone knows "the guy"...would love to know the story behind the sale...
We really never got the story - as time went on more people showed up and it get crazier.
Good haul 🔥
Thanks! The panther stuff sold the fastest
Binging on bearded thrift at 5 in the am!
Thank you!
a reputable jeweler whether local or nation wilde you should be able to get a reasonable prirce for your gold and diamond but check more than one!
100% will thank you- jeweler seems the way to go
Definitely take the rings to a reputable jeweler they can clean them up and give you the best price even if it’s just scrap.
I think we are taking them tomorrow
Red Sox is my team. Greetings from Boston
I sell jewelry on eBay. If you can figure out the price of gold and figure out the weight of what you have, look at comps. For the diamonds go to a jewelers and they can tell you how many carat's you have and grade the diamonds. I hope this helps. Don't take them to the pawn shop, they will rip you off!!!!!
It did help - we are going to the jeweler this week 😀
I learn so much from you guys! Great finds! - Koko

@@beardedthriftmachine of course! I watch and take notes from the ones that have the results! And it doesn’t hurt that you two are fun to watch and make a great team!!
Killer garage sale.
Insane right!!! No sign just rolled up on it
When the clothing is that cheap, personally I would try to make a deal on all of it, they really wanted it gone, and there is so much value there, some of my fastest selling clothing ever comes out of storage units where I just end up with it super cheap and I'm able to list good brands cheap, even with flaws stuff sells fast cheap
yea we dont really have the space - i use to do that alot then donate alot - but if i have the time ill just try and get the good stuff
Sweet
Not a bad yard sale at all
I'm interested the panther stuff... let me know. I'm out of Charlotte area.
Hey! We have listed all of it and about 50% has sold already
I only have one word…. DANG
I know right!!!!
You could have talked to him down on the first batch of golf clubs
Sometimes I don't if I know I'm going to buy more. But you're probably right
Great video
Thanks mom!
As far as the jewelry, research is key and I would go with selling them on eBay
yea - i dont know too much about so the carat size is hard
Have the rings appraised.
I would just take the rings to a jeweler and get them appraised and go from there.
i agree 100%
Keep the rings for a retirement fund! I've been metal detecting/yard saling for 25 years and never sold any gold or silver jewelry. A ring I would have gotten $50 for back then now is worth 5 X that amount. Compare that to what's happened to your dollars with inflation in the same time period.
That most likely what we will do but it would be cool to see what they are worth
when buying jewelry think gold and silver scrape price. that is a given. diamonds?
Yea - how much do diamonds go for?
I took jewelry to a jewelry store and designer. They only paid for the gold with no allowance for the diamonds and they would not take the time to remove the stones and return them to me.
Interesting- that's what I was worried about with the diamonds
Take the ring to a jeweler and have them appraised
I think that is a good idea - we will get it there and see what they say.
Nice looks like they were just wanting to get rid of stuff must of been estate or something or bought house auction but who really know or really cares as long as deals were good and you can make some$$$$👍
Yea I mean they were getting rid of everything
Man I just can’t make first anymore!!

Keep the rings. Take them to a jeweler who makes jewelry. Have a special ring made for that young lady.
I saw on a different channel that pawnshops simply weigh the ring then pay you below spot price of gold (after factoring in the purity 14k, 19k, etc). In other words, the style and stones mean nothing.
Get the rings appraised!!!! Please!!!! Then check against eBay. Please!!!
We were going to get them appraised :) this week
Shoot I'd keep that jewelry. After all it's gold and the price keeps going up
Yea we have a little box of scrap gold that we have been collecting I wanted to melt it all down and make a little bar lol
Could you check sold comps for the rings? Or get them appraised and cleaned?
We will probably take them to a jeweler and see what they say and then we will have the knowledge for listing
Awesome pickups! Found you via The Nurse Flipper lives and have only been following here about a month so I’m sure you’ve covered this in the past. Do you order boxes for shipping golf clubs and do you get different sizes for woods and irons, singles vs. sets? I’ve accumulated a number of clubs I’d like to list if I can figure out the boxes. Thanks for your insightful videos and for learning and teaching as you go!
Hey! I use 4x4x48 boxes - I get them from uline but you can get them to Amazon and I use the same boxes for everything
@@beardedthriftmachine Awesome! Thank you, sir!
I'm not really knowledgeable about god and diamonds but I have a small business jeweler near me who is happy to look at the jewelry I find and he has confirmed real jade ect. He doesn't always buy but shares his opinion for free. I'm willing to go out on a limb and say the diamond ring alone may pay for the day so don't give it away.
I agree- I think that is what I was thinking
Id look more into some of those clothes. Panthers jacket from 1993? They weren’t even a team until 95. looks like they are fake maybe
October 26th 1993.....
They didn’t play until 1995. I see that they were created in 1993. If they aren’t fake then they’re the first ever made panthers shirts made years before they ever played a game
I would take the rings to a good jeweler. A pawn shop won't give you a lot.
We took them to a jeweler and kinda got a rough estimate on how much they are worth
You may have $500.00 dollars in just gold and diamonds. Bring them to a shop that customizes they will remove the stones and make custom pieces for clients and are willing to pay more.
Starter gear is very sought after, they are out of business i believe
Take the rings to a reputable jeweler, don't let them take them out of sight though. Have them cleaned, which is free and inspected for broken prongs. Do not sell them to anyone who gives you an appraisal, they will low ball you. Try to get an estimated diamond weight and then weigh the gold to figure out the best price you want. eBay is good for selling fine jewelry.
I agree 💯 we will be going to a jeweler
Páint it blue and call it the “Blue Goose “.
