  • To no surprise several of the items that were useful for Bards and Clerics also prove useful for Druids. That being said, the limitation of no metal armor and a few specific items allow for more variability in this list. What do you think? Did I miss anything that you think is a critical magic item for druids?

    My druid just recently got a reskinned Staff of the Woodlands from a hill giant druid, called a Staff of the Hills and Valleys. It's the same staff, except it turns into a 30' tall menhir when it transforms, the menhir is practically indestructible, and it's about 15' wide so we can climb up it and camp on top. It was made by the giant as a memorial stone to her husband, so it's covered in Giant glyphs telling the husband's life story. My character had the magic transferred into a smaller staff, but it still transforms into the same menhir.
    The GM even ruled I could make my Leomund's Tiny Hut (We don't have a wizard, so I took Ritual Caster) slightly smaller so it perfectly caps the top of the stone. We love it.

    How in the world is staff of woodlands only rare? It sounds legendary. Awaken with no component, pass without trace at will, +2 attacks and spell attacks, it sounds even better than very rare.

    I can't believe you missed the best part about having a staff of the woodlands: TRANSPORT VIA PLANTS! This lets you teleport from anywhere as long as there is some sort of ground to plant the staff in. Plant it in a dungeon, go back to your group's HQ to rest/restock on supplies, then come back and turn it back into a staff.

    Metal armor is flavor text for druid and is based on lore, there is ways to have an exception to this such as having the goddess Meilikki who clergy is druids and rangers and are the rare druids who use medium metal armor and by using the wizards of the costs lore you can get around this if the DM agrees to allow you to be part of the Meiliki druids. There is not a detriment applied for having metal and is rp specific.

    Chest of Preserving from
    Waterdeep Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Common magic item that prevents food and meat from aging or rotting while it's inside the chest. Many Druids that have been designated healers will use the rest of their spell slots right before a long rest to create Goodberries, it's a good strategy. The one issue is that Goodberies do not keep their magical effects past 24 hours so if you get a consistent lull in activity or just a couple days of downtime where you don't need those Goodberries you just have a pocket of fruit. The Chest of Preserving prevents that as the description specifically says the contents of it don't age, meaning you can stuff a days worth of Goodberries in there and basically have a short or even long rest of healing eventually without ever stopping your treks. You can even live off them to save money for other magic items or supplies that would otherwise go to rations.

    with candle of invocation lit for one minute ( which you can do 240 times) outside of combat and druid can cast goodberry 10 times creating 100 berries and if you have one level in life cleric you now have 400 point of out of combat healing to distribute. This makes the nerf to healing spirit look silly.

      @ErasMcras Před 4 lety +1

      These berries also last 24 hours so you have 100 berries for an entire day that each heal for 4 meaning you pretty much have the party covered and can just monch berries not to mention in higher levels you can just spend an additional minute of the candle and have 800 points of healing instead.

    Frankly, I agree with Roy from OotS: the Bag of Tricks can summon any animal, as long as it's completely useless in combat. The image of him pulling a fuzzball out of a Bag and tossing it towards an ogre, only to have the monster immediately swallow the summoned creature, will remain with me until I'm old and gray.
    Insignia of Claws only works if you have a *VERY* understanding DM who allows you to continue wearing it when you're wild shaped. Otherwise, it's only useful for monks.
    Necklace of Adaptation is absolute garbage as you present it. Whyinthehell would *ANYONE* want to transform into a creature with a five-or-ten-foot land movement speed? The only ( *THE. ONLY* ) use I can see for this item is using it in an underwater adventure when you want to wild shape into a terrestrial creature underwater, and by the time you're doing that, you should both have and be casting Water Breathing on your entire party, every day.
    The candle of invocation sounds like a cr@p item unless you're surrounded by characters of the exact same alignment as you ... something I've found to be ridiculously rare in any adventuring party.

Hell, just stick it onto yourself, your skin or something. Make it a part of your skin perhaps, almost like a tatto. It its not as if you will ever not want it.... Unless you like me consider the option of turning into a poison bug so you can bite and nock out the child of someone you want to manipulate allowing you to kidnap the child easily..
