    Here's what I got out of it.
    V845:
    • Has a deeper, more bassy sound.
    • Sounds more "round".
    V847A:
    • Sharper sound with a lot of treble.
    • Some bass seems to be cut off.
    So, in the end, it comes down to this:
    If you want a rounder more bassy sound go for the V845.
    If you want a sharper sound that works a bit better with OD/Disortion/Fuzz, get the V847A.
    If you want a wah that sounds like shit, get a Crybaby.

      arlen TGames To me personally, if you mod a crybaby it can sound good. A crybaby was sadly my only option at the time of getting it so I modified it.
      Personally crybaby’s just sound awful to me. The highs are really harsh and it’s terrible with distortion.
      Voxs are better in my opinion because they have a more original vintage type tone. And they work better with distortion imo.

      Like most wahs out there, you can adjust the relative position of the rack and pinion to orient the range towards more treble or more bass. It's quite possible that these two pedals are set slightly different from each other in that respect.

    This is what I prefer:
    1:38 1:46 - V845
    1:52 1:56 - V845
    2:00 2:10 - V845
    2:21 2:32 - V847A
    2:41 2:57 - V847A
    3:14 3:54 - V847A
    Conclusion: I think I prefer the V847A slightly more, but wouldn't mind buying either one.

    On a circuitry level, it's literally a matter of two components, the 845 is missing q3 and c6 on the circuitry, add the right values to an 845 and you got an 847, likewise, remove those two on an 847 and you got an 845. c6 -104J capacitor and q3 -2N5089L TJ6 transistor

  • @richhagan5151
    @richhagan5151 Před 9 měsíci +1

    The best way to use a Wah pedal is to loosen the tension spring under the pedal so that it flops to the full treble position - that acts as a great resonant treble boost. When you want a wah, put your toe on the pedal's heel to work the pedal - that makes a great reverse wah sound - far better than the usual wah sound. You can also get a great resonant mid-range sound by turning the pedal on and putting a matchbook under the toe to back it off of the treble a bit.

    I like your style of playing and I prefer the 745 sound, it's not harsh sounding at all but sometimes if you were more of a lead player than rhythm then I think the other one would cut through better for that scenario so I can see why this exists.

    Thanks for this. I have a Morely Power Wah, but it's just not doing it for me, probably because it's trying to be two birds at once. I've been looking at both of these. It's funny: I liked the signal alone with the V847A, but for all the actual playing, the V845 delivered a more pleasing sound, less harsh and brittle than the V847A. The difference is subtle, but it's there.

    Now that i've heard this comparison, I like the sweep to brightness of the V845 better.. I bought the V847 but never use it cause i don't really like it's tone. And it also drops the volume-level when kicked in. They should add a adjustable 'Boost' function to it as some other brand models have..

  • @RasvetDushi
    @RasvetDushi Před 10 měsíci

    At the circuit level, it's literally a matter of two components, the 845 circuit lacks q3 and c6, add the correct values to 845 and you get 847, similarly, remove these two to 847 and you get 845. I did not solder the parts, but installed pin connectors so that I could plug in and take out radio components as needed. These are the names of the parts : film capacitor c6 -104J(100v) and q3 transistor 2N5089 (analogs MPSA18). On the 845 and 847, you can still improve the wah-wah sound by replacing the film capacitor c5 (103 J) with a capacitor 153J. Video how to do it here czcams.com/video/Hx7CL29qDPA/video.html

    I found the 845 pretty good with a standard telecaster with less top
    It worked well and the bleed when off .rounded the the single coil highs .
    Enabled all amp eq on 10
    And tone / vol full up
    On guitar...old school style. Horses for courses...
    And £ 23 cheaper than the 847.

      True bypass does not effect your signal chain in anyway when not in use ie bypasses the pedal

    • @gabopalacios2028
      @gabopalacios2028 Před 2 lety

      It means your guitar signal goes through the pedal without it being tonally "affected" by the circuit. While, the buffered pedals take your signal and, considering the signal degrades while passing through the circuit, it buffers it on its way out in order to keep its tonal integrity (but sometimes it means it's going to color your signal). Some people like buffered pedals better, so this shouldn't stop you from buying a buffered pedal.

      Same pedal, just a different sweep. The 845 has a shorter sweep, more dynamic. Great for rhythm playing where you are just trying to get that “wahcachicka” sound. The 847 is in my opinion better for lead playing. It has a longer sweep, less treble loss. Great for Kirk Hammett style leads. Neither is bad or better. Just different flavors.
