Scalding kids when they're having fun is just part of parents' responsibility. Trick is to figure out how to get the scalding as short as possible i.e. 'operation: chill the scalding parent'. Think of it as a bonus stage, cos the quicker you get your parents out of there, the more time can be spent playing and scoring points. The best way I found was a) to be cool. Be careful not to come across as not caring. b) For mum was to give her a hug, and with dad was to give him food. Experiment

you only get fireworks if you end the level and the time ends on 1, 3, or 5 i think. so if the time ended at 101, you get 1 firework, 103 would give you 3, and 105 would give you 5.
