- Does your bicycle engine rev really high all by it's self..😒🤷♂️ Here is a few ways to find out why it's doing that ..!!! Usually it's an air leak ,so you have to be able to find where it's coming from in order to repair it..

When I start my bike I can get it to run fine if I immediately drop the clutch and give it least %50 throttle. As long as I do that and pedal right up to speed and keep it under load it sings. However, if I disengage the clutch immediately after I bump start and wind up the rpms, when I start to engage the clutch it bogs unless I give it WOT and pedal it to assist it up to cruising speed...sometimes I'll set it to half choke while that going on and it helps. Once the engine is warmed up I get great throttle response. But from there on out EVERY TIME I disengage the clutch the engine revs out of control and I have to feather the clutch to keep rpms down or hit the kill switch if I'm gonna be sitting at an intersection waiting for the light to turn green. Then I just bump start it and blast off. I was four stroking into the higher rpms, I filed down the woodruff key for the magneto just a little bit to retard the ignition a few degrees. Seemed to help a bit, but I'm still 4 stroking at WOT under little to no load. I guess that's pretty normal, though. I checked the throttle grip, cable and housing, carb slide/spring/needle arrangement and that's straight and snapping back nice smooth and crisp like it's supposed to. I'm definitely going to run this test and see what happens. Thank you so much for sharing this info, I haven't seen any other video or read any other advice on any of the motorized bike channels/forums that suggested anything like this. Excellent info regarding the different products that a person might decide to use, people don't think about inherent dangers of flammable substances or chemical properties of various cleaners that will ruin your gear. Cheers!
I've ran into these various problems that you have mentioned throughout the years, from crank shaft seals leaking air to poor machine work on the engines case not letting it seal properly, even poor casting on the cylinder jug it's self-sucking air through the pours of the metal.. So I feel your frustration... 🤬🤬 My friendly advice to you is if it's a new engine you just purchased send it back & get a new one, if not you're going to have to disassemble the entire engine & spend a lot of time figuring out where they did a poor job on the manufactures end.. If you have already checked the normal stuff like making sure the Carb. is all the way on the intake & there are no air leaks & the intake is firmly snug on the cylinder & you've checked all the nuts & bolts to make sure there wasn't anything left loose from the factory, I would definitely look into exchanging it, you shouldn't have to pay for it & repair it too.. These engines aren't the best quality in the world anyway, but at the very least you should get one that works properly right out of the box.. I hope you get this straightened out so you can enjoy it rather than being stressed out about it not working as it should..

Thanks for watching..👍🚴♂️
How did this man know exactly how I’m feeling about this
If you build enough of these bikes were all going to run into the same problems some day..😥
Don't even need to watch the video to know an air leak is why it's reving by itself
Thanks for the info
Also I love brake clean it's awesome for anything. Im wondering if ppl are getting high on starter though having said there's ether lol
I've had the seals pop out behind the magneto before. thanks for the tips.
Yeah I've had them leak on brand new engines..😡
Cheers boss
Got one going CRAZY high Rev on its own. Ran for about 5 min then set to idle and warm up to operating temps, while setting untouched it began to rev EXTREMELY HIGH and almost wouldn't shut off when I held the shutoff switch. Any ideas?
I don't know if your engine is new or has been riding awhile, It really doesn't matter 🤷♂️It's usually an air leak somewhere, if you have tried the methods in the video also take off the side covers & check the seals..
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes ended up being a NASTY leak at the back of the carb. Put a healthy layer of Teflon tap on the manifold end and between the carb and retaining band. Did the trick right up!
i took the engine apart and then changed the crankshaft and when i putted it back together then it started to rev high even though i had the carburetor with right tuning.
Usually if an engine runs away with high revs it 99% of the time means there is an air leak somewhere.. 🤷♂It could be the crankshaft seals or the case gasket or even where the cylinder meets the case. This method should help you find where it is coming from. when the spray finds the air leak the engine will change sounds or even run a little different when it sucks in the carb or brake cleaner at the leak.. I hope you find it so you can repair it & get back to riding.. 🚴♂🚴♂
Great video. Can’t wait to see what my issue was with the idle going crazy high
Hopefully this video helps you find the problem..👍
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes it ended up being a vacuum leak at the carb. Totally tricked me thought! After a new carb, cdi, throttle cable and it was a stupid air leak lol. Thanks for the video it helped me get there
@@andrewsapp856 I'm glad you found the problem so you can now get out & enjoy your bike..🚴♂️
So lets get started-

Sometimes you have to throw a disclaimer in there..😎

I have a 4 stroke friction motor lock n load how do I check the carb on it for leaks?
I'm sorry I thought you were talking about one of the 2 stroke engines.. 4-stroke engines won't do the air leak rev, that's the beauty of the 4-stroke engines. I would check the throttle cable & see if it's pulling on the throttle blade & making it rev when you turn the handlebars or something like that.. It sounds to me that something is pulling the cable & making the engine rev like the throttle is being applied. Also if the throttle cable is being pulled to tight to reach the engine can some times do this, it may just need you to set the idle down with a simple adjustment at the carb.
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes Oh ok see I thought the same thing but I removed the throttle cable completely and it still revs, the tire spins when I pull the pull start it's not supposed to do that because it's a friction motor kit so it will kill the engine or pop the tire all together that's where I'm lost at lol
can u use crisco to grease magneto? and chain
No need to grease the magneto but if you grease the chain with Crisco it will smell like fried chicken. 😁😁
So when I'm riding at high revs sometimes but not all the time when I pull in the clutch my engine goes nuts and revs out of control if I let the clutch out and slow it down its ok but could this still be an air leak it doesn't do it other than that it seems to idle just fine
I would first check & make sure the slide in the carb. is sliding freely & if that seems fine I would definitely check for air leaks. I would also check the carb. at the intake to make sure it's slid all the way on the intake a lot of people find they have a small air leak behind the clamp that holds the carb on right where those slits are, I use a tiny paperclip to see if I can poke it through there if I think it may not be on tight against the intake tube, if the paper clip slides in the hole I know the carb isn't slid up tight against intake tube.
If you do find you can't get the carb slid up enough to close those holes you can get an O -Ring at the parts store to help seal it, just tell them you need a neoprene O-Ring because they are gas friendly & won't dissolve through time.. 👍👍
could i hace over tightend my head and caused a leak? will black rtb help
I don't believe so, unless one of the bolts striped when you were doing it & now it's not tightening down & letting air leak in although I would think you would have noticed the nut stripping out when you were tightening it.. No gasket maker will help with this so no need to waste time or money on it..
that fuel filter is on bbakwards
I'm well aware of that & thanks for noticing. To make a long story short I did that to show some one that the bike would still run just fine if they put the fuel filter on backwards.
Could this be caused by a faulty Cdi and Magnito?
No, because the magneto just makes the electricity & the CDI distributes it..🚴♀️ Check for air leaks..👍
Mine was running fine I was riding about 30 miles a day. Till the chain came off. I put the chain back on and now every time I start it it just starts reving extremely high. I pop the clutch and it doesn't go anywhere just screams at me till I shut it off🤷♂️
From what you have said I would say the seal around the engine drive sprocket for the chain has been damaged when the chain came off & it's sucking in outside air & running lean, that could be the reason the engine revs way up as soon as it starts.. Take a look at that seal, you might have to remove that little sprocket to get a good look at that seal..That's where I would start
I have an issew, my pocket bike that is a 49cc 2 stroke, when i start it up After a while it starts to rev towards 4k or 5k revs and if you accelerate enough it chokes. I do not know what's going on I put new gaskets from the carburetor to the engine and it went well for 15 minutes but then the same problems occurred again. Please help ❤
I feel your pain.. 😥😥If you have already done the spray test when it was running around every gasket area, even where the engine case comes together in the middle and still no obvious air leak. The first thing you should do is check all the nuts & bolts that hold your engine together, you can't trust that the factory got everything tight. After that if still no change you're going to have to take the entire engine apart & put a full gasket kit & crankshaft seal in the engine, while doing that check for any burrs on all the surfaces, it doesn't take but a small burr to make a gasket leak & suck air.. ( The sucking of outside air other than through the carburetor is what makes a 2-stroke rev all by it's self..) If your kit was just purchased, I would contact the seller & exchange it.. If not you're going to have to put in the work to find where the air leak is coming from.. 😥😥It sounds like whatever air leak you may have only shows it's self when the engine gets up to operating temperature & the engine or parts expand so that tells me it might just be some loose bolts like cylinder to engine bolts or even some loose case bolts. I would definitely start there.
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes ill do that, thank you for your great quick response my friend, u best
Can the filter case cause a vacuum leak
No, it's only job is to keep dirt & debris from getting into your engine.
Could it be a carb bowl leak? Because my carburetor bowl I don’t think is on there secure
The bowl is mainly just a gas reservoir, usually if it revs erratic it's usually an air leak somewhere🤷♂️.
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes would the previous owner using a sock as an air filter make that difference?
@@masonlutzenberger3211 Probably not, at least they put something over the carb. intake so tiny rocks & other road debris didn't go in the engine..I don't believe just using sock material as an air filter caused any damage.
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes ok cuz I thought air filters restricted some air flow creating a better vacuum vs a sock which wouldn’t do as much
Vacuum is created in they cylinder which needs air through the air filter to breath, it is best if you have a regular foam type of air filter or a good breathing paper style.
That float in my carburettor is sticking up and wont go down what do i do
You'll have to remove the float bowel & pull out the needle valve by hand. It's just something that happens sometimes from sitting for a while & sometimes it has even happened to new carbs right out of the box. If you need to clean it use brake cleaner & NOT carb. cleaner, carb. cleaner is not friendly to rubber parts or gaskets. If for some reason it keeps sticking shut on you after that I'd just replace the carb, once in a great while you'll get a carb with a bad needle & seat valve.
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikesI replaced the carb and is still hitting high revs
@@michaeldavis748 In your last question you stated that your float was sticking, float level won't make the bike engine Rev Hi.. 😥😥It sounds like to me that what you meant to explain is that the slide barrel in your carb, the part the throttle cable hooks to & moves up & down when you twist the throttle is what you're having issues with.. Is this the part you're talking about..??
