    📖 GLOSSARY: 📖
► False Vocal Folds: False vocal folds, also called ventricular folds are a pair of thick folds of mucous membrane that are located above the larynx. They close when swallowing to protect the lungs.
► Thin Vocal Folds: When the folds thin out when you go higher in the range. Also known as head voice.
► Falsetto: When the vocal folds are stiff and let out air.
► Thick Vocal Folds = When you are in your chest register (so lower than an A above middle C ish) the true vocal folds are thick, and therefore we call this thick vocal folds.
► True Vocal folds = Vocal cords. They aren't cords at all but folds of tissue and ligament, so we stay clear of you thinking they are like two ropes in your larynx.
► Larynx: the place in the throat where the Vocal Folds / Vocal Cords live.

Fun fact: this song features 4 languages - the intro was in Czech, the chorus was in Ukrainian, the rap was in Bulgarian and the rest was in English. I find is beautiful how they managed to incorporate so many languages into one song!

The song's lyrics are about the historic and present "sisterhood" between Slavic nations. When they talk about "my sister's crown", they're referring to Ukraine having autonomy over themselves and this autonomy being under threat from another nation (i.e. Russia) trying to steal the crown away. The lyrics are in multiple Slavic languages including Ukrainian and the message is about being united as nations and as peoples against people trying to take others' autonomy away.

Have waited for this reaction for quite some time!
The message, while having feminist meaning, has also pro-Ukrainian/pan-slavic meaning. The sister being Ukraine, and other sisters (other Slavic nations) trying or not wanting to get her crown down - ie, while showing that we are all siblings, showing that we are all sovereign, with all of our sovereign borders, and all.
The song was also spoken in four languages: Czech, English, Bulgarian (because the girl is Bulgarian, and Bulgaria didn't have the budget to enter Eurovision, so they get represented this way) and Ukrainian (because of the war).

My 5 year old absolutely loves Vesna! We're Italian so she has no idea what they're saying but according to her "Rapunzel is real and she has sisters!"
She asked to have her hair braided and got upset that it wasn't growing long like the Rapunzels!" I explained that she's only 5 and they're grown ups.
But yeah awesome song and I'm glad they were in the top 10!

Overall there were some performances that were more professional and polished but the one that blew my mind this year was Serbia. I loved how they played with the lighting and how they worked with the props to make it feel like a virtual reality. The vocals were a bit weak (or maybe that was just a mic issue because many people had that) but you should still check it out if you are interested. As for my favourite moment... I don't want to spoil anything haha

This song's main point is to counter Russian propaganda narrative that is trying to undermine Ukraine as a concept. The propaganda aspect is more clearly realized in the music video where russian sister is fed with red soup and where weird stuff like people with tv heads zombie walking. Lyrics are really quite impressive as there is hardly even one word within the lyrics that would not have strong meaning. Crown stands for independence. The sister she's talking about is Ukraine and the main chorus in Ukrainian to strengthen the position. In Slavic languages where all words have associated femineity or masculinity - nations are feminine thus sisterhood makes a lot sense. It includes more Slavic languages (Bulgarian and Czech) to signal Slavic unity gainst the Moscow's oppression. It's also juxtaposition against concept of "brotherhood" that Russia tries to use to erase ethnic differences between the two countries in Vesna's song instead "she is her own queen" stresses the fact of independence.

  • @Relevart9169

The meaning of the song is more about how the slavic countries need to stick together (hence there being so many languages) but u could interpret it like its about women empowerment too

I love your reaction and explanation of music pro but I have to add something. This song is really about support for Ukraine. I recommened videos explaining this stuff and also original video for this song with subtitles. Subtitles are always there because this song is in four languages - Czech, English, Bulgarian and Ukrainian. In Czechia we can understand Czech and (mostly) English but definitely not the other ones.

Yeah, the worst vocals in the entire NF season, along with some first rounders in San Marino. She's not gonna react to it, she doesn't wanna bother her viewers with outright bad performances either, I guess. Why do people like you deliberately suggest awful performances? Is it so that she's shocked while hearing it? As a sort of prank? Grow up and get a grip.
